    Bit less than i paid for it plus i've just had the mute switch replaced and basic service completed 3 weeks ago. I like to know all is ok before i sell something. Saving for a Mesa Subway rig so all unused gear needs to go. Dave

    The guy that was giving me lessons was a guitarist right enough so probably a lot easier on a guitar. I could never manage it properly altho i still try every now and again just for fun.

    Oddly enough someone else was looking for the combo but at this stage i would prefer to sell the rig as a unit. Also the distance will be an issue as i'm not prepared to post. I don't have the original boxes and i don't trust courier services. Sorry Dave

    I took lessons for 12-18mths if i remember right. The hardest part for me was first finger first fret 2nd finger 2nd fret thing. I was only 16 and just found the stretch difficult at top of the neck. Time-keeping was something i worked at to make sure i could hold the beat even if drummer was not great and at that tender age most musicians i knew were more or less beginners like me. Then taking basic songs (my first was Little Old Wine Drinker Me) and adapting what i learned to try and play Deep Purple songs Dave

    At the moment i would prefer to keep as a matched pair as i believe the single cab would be difficult to shift on its own. The combo def sounds better with the ext cab tho. Its not the volume just the "stage presence" you get whether that's because the combo speaker is closer to my ears or its simply pushing more air but it def makes a difference when using both. Dave

    Ideal practice rig with the well known Trace Elliot 150W amp head. Bought this to use in a small rehearsal room with previous band who's bass player was selling before moving to NZ. The head has a few scuffs on the covering but works fine. Just had the mute switch replaced and amp serviced at GSE in Glasgow. The 210 cab was originally a 410 that the guy had found with no speakers so he cut down to a 210 and fitted a couple of spare Trace speakers. He was a TE geek and had numerous TE gear. He's done a reasonable job and it looks ok to me for what i needed at the time. Its a 4 ohms cab and would be ideal at home for practicing or maybe for smaller venues. Cab has a few scuffs as well but considering their age not too bad hence the lower price tag for them. COLLECTION ONLY or happy to meet if within a reasonable distance

    Ampeg SVT4 Pro amp has a tube pre-amp with a STEREO Mosfet power stage. Great condition all round. Just had the built in compressor repaired and full service at GSE in Glasgow. Amp was originally a US amp with exyernal 110V transformer. I had it converted at GSE in Glasgow to 230V few yrs ago. Was fitted with recommended tubes from Watford Valves last year and hasn't been used much since. GSE do all my amp servicing and repairs. Amp has the standard Ampeg EQ along with the switchable Graphic EQ. Has a nice warm tube sound and a massive stage presence. Very adaptable head can be used in full stereo or mono-bridged. I will supply the specially made "bridged" cable which i had custom made by OBBM. Has standard jacks or speakon connectors altho Bridged output is only Speakon. You can do to many variations on the back of this amp to list. Manual is available on-line or i will provide with the amp. COLLECTION ONLY or happy to meet if within a reasonable distance. I can supply a new 3U rack case that i have spare with the amp if required.

    Bought this rig new from Bass Direct approx 3-4yrs ago. Its been used on 2 gigs and a couple of rehearsals with different style bands. Rig is in "As New" condition. Extremely lightweight and verstaile rig. I've never had a bad sound from this rig and have had nice comments when used from both audience and sound guys on those rare occasions. It comes with custom padded covers made by HOTCOVERS. Markbass gear is reliable, well built and simply great tone no matter what style you play. Amp is 350W at 8 ohms and 500W at 4ohms. I've never had this amp at more than 9-10 o'clock on the master Volume. These are loud amps / rigs. I've found they work very well in large band situations especially with keys as they seem to cut thru the mix better than any other rig i've used over the years.     Most decent venues over here have their own PA and Sound guy and if really lucky he knows what he's doing but he doesn't get paid from your money altho some venues you hire the hall and take the door money. Sound guy is usually just like any other member of staff on the night. So different from how you guys have to operate. No wonder bands are dying off in US Everyone wants a piece of the action over there and it'l get to a point it won't be worthwhile. Dave

    I did it for yrs in various originals power trios and sets back then were either two 45min sets or a full 90min set. That was the standard times back then. These days i would expect to see an originals band do a full set list if i'm paying money to see them and i do regularly. If the band is good and can entertain then it shouldn't be a problem I've done power trios, rock and Prog rock originals bands over the years and we always aimed for a 2 hr set list. People don't want to pay money for a short 30-45min set unless there are more bands on the same night. Dave

    9 songs in an originals power trio doesn't seem enough to gig with. You need to be looking at 2hrs worth of material to gig unless its a support act or a shared gig with other bands. I normally allow 6mths to get a start up band gigging. I'll wait a year if the band are excellent and i'm enjoying it enough but if no sign of arranging gigs or preparing for it you have to ask yourself if its what you really want from a band. My current band is about 8mths into rehearsing altho its been a very inconsistent rehearsal regime due to other band comitments from them. That was made clear at start of the year that they had bookings with other bands and we would need to work around that until bookings are clear and slowed down a bit. You simply need to sit and think about what you want from a band and base your decision on that. Hopefully it works out for you. Dave
