1.
Oh God - I'm an idiot. Where's the delete thread button?
Not to worry, if someone finds this thread instead of the other one then it's done it's job.
 2. As a young, fresh faced youth I was told by a 'seasoned' bass player "It ain't the notes you play, it's the one's you leave out that matter." One of the best pieces of musical advice I've ever been given. He's long gone now, and I increasingly find myself taking his place. Not that any of you b*gg*rs are young, fresh faced youths...
 3. It's still there. It had just 'sunk' to the bottom of the listings. I've given it a 'bump' so you'll be able to find it again.
 4.
Any way to update the Price Or Trade Value box when we decide on a price drop?
Nope, it's a fixed 'stamp' that not even the mods can change. The best way of advertising a price drop is to put it in the header - that way it'll get the message across without people even having to click your ad.
 5. As far as I can see, the SR885 and SR886 share the same electronics. This should do the trick...
 6.
You are going to come to a sticky end.
I think I need brain bleach... and quite possibly a double...
 7.
Yes , short skirt makes nice coffee......
8.
Any time I find something to make a bit of fun of on here, you 2 beat me to it!
Don't worry mate. It's just premature joke elation...
 9.
It has nothing to do with the site?
No Myke, Our hosting provider, a company that hosts thousands of websites, has been targeted by a bunch of social misfits who like disrupting things. No work has been done on BC for several days now. If we are working on the site and need to take it down, you will get the 'BassChat Down For Maintenance' screen.
 10.
The site is becoming very unreliable. What will it be next?
Here we go again...
 11.
It's farcical really. A testing subdomain e,g, staging.basschat.co.uk is the way to go.
It has nothing to do with testing so test environments are obviously irrelevant in this case.
 12. CloudFlare are actually our web hosters. They have been under DDOS attack on and off for several days now. It is not development work on BassChat's part.
 13.
I once spent a good while tracking down a tick from a guitar at what seemed like 1 second intervals. I should have realised it earlier but it was my quartz battery watch with a seconds hand. You could watch the hand move and hear the tick simultaneously !
Now that's one that I have encountered in the past. Another one was those green LED calculators - go anywhere near an amp with one of those and all hell lets loose.
 14. I'm still trying to work out how to send 240V to an IP address...
 15.
Only one sock, actually.
16.
He usually uses his spare pair of socks for that!.............allegedly
I would say 'thank you' for that particular image, but I suspect it might not sound sincere...
 17.
Eh? Didn't you tell me all that..?
I was trying to big you up but now you've gone and blown it...
 18.
I'm not sure what the charges at eBay are currently - how much would you need to sell before incurring £20 costs??
AFAIK they charge 10%, so £200 worth. There are also some insertion fees that are charged as well.
The point about there being 25,000 BCers is a bit misleading - as we know people come and go, it would be interesting to know how many are actually "active" members (have a look at the bottom of the Home page!!)
It's not really the number of users BC has, it's the number of people who make use of the Marketplace as sellers. I've been here since 2010 and have yet to place my first advert!
 19.
The header of the abandoned advert, before it is automatically deleted, will trigger a notification. That's why some 'for sale' items don't appear and generate an error message when you click on them. It's a bug in the system.
You techie you...
 20.
I don't mind paying for ads, but posts shouldn't "just disappear". There should be a notification that a deletion has occurred. An automatic deletion could easily put out an automatic reason.
I think there's some confusion here. If someone starts to post an advert and then decides not to fill in the payment screen when prompted, the advert isn't accepted by the system - that shouldn't really be a big surprise to anyone. Under certain circumstances, it is possible that the header of the abandoned advert will appear on the forum for a short time. This does not mean that it has been accepted without payment - the poster should not be surprised when it disappears, because disappear it will. If someone goes to Amazon, orders a pile of books and then decides not to fill in the payment screen, they don't get the books and they don't get a mail telling them that they're not going to get them. Same thing here - it's a universal standard. If an advert is 'removed' by a mod then they will always send a PM explaining what they have done and why. It should perhaps be noted here that Mods cannot actually 'repair' adverts that have been 'removed' or discarded, it's not Mods being 'awkward', it just isn't doable. The advertiser will need to start their advertisement again and ensure they avoid the error that led to the removal of their advert the first time round. In my experience, once the errors are pointed out to most advertisers they have a quick "Oh crikey, what was I thinking" moment, repost their advert correctly, we have a bit of a laugh about it and everyone's happy. If anyone isn't sure of where they've gone wrong, then just let the Mod know - we are always happy to provide guidance if needed. HTH
 21.
So I had an ad that was placed BEFORE the charges came in removed, yet other people still have theirs up? Favouritism from the mods? Seems f***ing shady to me
Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the rules, they apply to everyone equally. I have already sent you a PM regarding this and you therefore know exactly why it was removed.
 22.
I had no access for 4 days
LMAO
 23.
Personally if I was in charge of this forum and Mr Hall had come to me with his various demands regarding copyright infringement, I'd have told him that since on an internet forum it is impossible to verify the authenticity of any Rickenbacker-shaped instrument, in order to comply we would be removing all references to Rickenbacker from the site permanently. After all you can't even discuss the brand without referencing some well-known users, many of whom played copies rather than the real thing, and safest way to avoid any trouble would simply be not to allow any mention of the brand at all.
Good luck with that policy.
