1. Santa bought me a digitech bass multi chorus :-D
2. Played a hometown gig on Saturday. Turn out wasn't as good as I was hoping. Still good but not rammed like usual. This was the first gig with my new pedal set up so was a good test to see how it worked like... Good news is its fantastic. Only real problem with the gig was the stage lighting... Couldn't see sh*t. Our manager was there to film us and you just can't make the band out. Shame cause the sound was pretty good
3. Gavin Harrison Craig Blundell Mike Portnoy I might have a slight thing for Prog drummers
4. I used it at practice and it's working fine. Gig tomorrow so that's the true test
5. Thank you. I'm really happy with how the art work turned out and I always forget how good our album sounds lol
6. We've just uploaded our new music video to YouTube. The guy that did our EP artwork and the last video wanted to do more artwork and a video so we tied the two together. Hope you enjoy it... It's a bit heavier than our last song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=849fTQTxIQ0
7. Went for the £28 one lefrash recommended. Don't want to run the risk of online ordering this close to the gig
8. Found this on the Maplin site. Would need a mains adapter to make it work but looks like the right thing http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/12v-universal-dc-power-supply-3a-with-6-power-tips-a92jh
9. Slight emergency. I have a gig on the 21st December and my power supply cable has a nice big slice in it and it no longer works. Where is the best/cheapest/quickest place to get a new supply? Thanks in advance Mike
10. Few pics of my new tattoo and a pic of me wearing a shirt from my bands new sponsor
11. I hope he plans on paying for the repairs. Just common decency. I have a simple rule on gear lending. If you use my sh*t you stick around. And I only lend gear to people who I know and trust.
12. I have my old Laney R3 for sale. It's not in the best condition. Been gigged with quite a bit. The middle of the speaker was damaged when I first bought it. It makes an odd farting sound when ANY distortion is put thru it and when you turn it on it is very quiet and then makes a loud pop once warmed up. For obvious reasons collection only. You are more than welcome to come have a look before hand. Offers welcome and pics are available if necessary Mike
13. We use a practice studio and the drums are next to the amps (like in a live scenario) and the PA is at the other end of the room facing the back line. I try not to stay near my amp as our drummer hits like a beast and I always loose the guitarist. So I tend to walk around as far as my leads will allow
14. Buy a Fuzz pedal, find the nastiest, filthy tone you can handle. Take it to practice and see if she notices the "extra groove"
15. I always try and make a point of asking the other bands/organisers what gear I need to bring. And even after the gear is sorted I double check with the bassist that it's cool. I have had a few bass players just walk upto my gear without asking ANYONE if it was ok to use (at which time I take my head off stage and watch the panic happen). I unplug my head from which ever cab is there and from the mains.
16. Tried putting the muff after the zoom and wow that's nasty. Think I'll have a play with the fx loop
17. So I borrowed a Big Muff from a friend of mine as she no longer needs it and so far it's sounding pretty good. I am running my signal chain Bass>Muff>Zoom>Amp. Would it be worth while running the pedal thru the effect loop on the zoom or is it better just before/after the zoom?
18. The big bass muff is not much more and I've been watching a few video reviews and it seems like a front runner. Gonna have a play before I spend any cash
19. I'm as happy with the drive sound as I think I'll ever be from a multi effect unit.
20.
BTW, you can use your Zoom along with individual pedals. You're probably wisest to ge the dirt pedal first as multi units usually don't have anywhere as good a dirt as the boxes they emulate. So you could put a Muff/XBD between your bass & the Zoom & as you get more pedals use the Zoom with the other pedals just for the FX that you rarely use.
I was considering doing this. I like the chorus sounds I can get from the zoom but the drive chanel isn't enough
21. I have been looking at digitech xbd pedal as that seems to have a blend. Any opinions on that? I'm going to borrow a mates big muff pedal. Hopefully I'll get a nice tone from that
22. Yeah I have a clean blend with the OD chanel. I think it's modelled on the OD2 pedal but not totally sure without looking. Are there any shops in the Birmingham area with a good set of bass pedals for me to go play around with?
