That's what baffled me, he was a regular driver for my address, and he would know that I usually leave the porch door unlocked if I was expecting a delivery or collection, why he didn't bother walking down the steps to the door after actually driving down my driveway to my house, still mystifies me. 🤔

Having just read mcnach's post about his displeasure with DPD, I thought I would share my experiences with them. A couple of year's ago I ordered some expensive hi-fi separates, I received an email from DPD stating that my goods were delivered safely and successfully, so I went to my front door and was horrified to find nothing, it turned out that the driver had delivered my goods to a completely different address about half a mile away from where I live. Luckily for me, the person who received my goods was honest enough to bring them round to my address, but he did say that all the boxes were left on his doorstep in full view of the general public, and had discovered them when he got home from work. Fast forward to a couple of month's ago, I had a bass that needed returning to GuitarGuitar which was scheduled to be collected by DPD. Despite the fact that I'm retired and would be home on the day of the scheduled collection, I had a bad feeling about this collection because of my previous experience with DPD, so I decided to set up my video camera in the front room looking out of the window, and I was so glad I did. I was sitting in the back room when I received a notification stating that their driver had attempted to collect the bass, but reported that there was nothing to collect, there was no ring of the doorbell, or a knock on the front door, so I checked the video and what I saw was shocking, even by "dodgy courier" standards. The video clearly shows the driver get out of his van, walk to the top of the steps that lead down to my front door, then stop, turn around and get back into his van and drive off. I had left the bass in my front porch ready for collection, so if he had bothered to walk down the steps, he would have seen the bass sitting there because the porch has clear windows. Obviously I reported this to DPD, and sent the video to them, but there was no apology, or offer of compensation, all they said was that they will attempt delivery the next day. From now on, if I order anything online, I call the store first to ask which courier they use, and if they tell me it's DPD, then I won't order from them. DPD.mp4

I think they are done by lots of different session musicians and bands because I use them to upload bass covers to YouTube, and some of them get taken down because of copyright issues.

Just wondering how many of you are put off buying a bass if the fingerboard is either Laurel, or Pau Ferro. I have to admit that I am, it's the paler colour I don't like, especially as I love a really dark rosewood board. In a blind test, I'm sure most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference in sound, or playability. Am I the only one?

That might be too much for some people who post on JMB. This is quite typical of some of the ads I've seen recently on JMB: "Wanting to start a band" no other information included. 🤔

There have been times when our band is looking to recruit someone, and we've paid for a month's subscription on Bandmix because it's the only way you can message people, because it's not free. Over the past couple of years we have sent out 102 messages to people on there, just FIVE people bothered to reply. At least with JMB you don't have to pay to contact the "time-wasters" that seem to be in abundance on both sites.

I'm not normally a fan of Christmas songs and when it was suggested we play this at a Christmas gig a few years ago, I thought, oh no! But to my surprise, when I started learning it, I actually fell in love the bass line and learnt it note for note, fortunately, the rest of the band had learn't their parts properly as well and it was as tight as duck's whatsit in rehearsal, and I couldn't wait to play it live, but on the morning of the gig, a couple of feet of snow fell and the gig was cancelled. Up until this day, I never did get to play it live, but I always run through it a few times leading up to Christmas, just in case.

I've decided to return the harness.

The two wires from the pickup go into the slots so nothing should be touching. The volume only works if I turn the tone on a little bit, it would be ok when playing at home, but if I was playing live and I inadvertently turned the tone off completely, then I would effectively be turning the volume off as well, which isn't ideal in a live situation.

I've just purchased a Alegree Solderless Precision Bass Wiring Harness. The harness is made up with quality components including - CTS solid shaft shaft potentiometers - Orange drop capacitor - Switchcraft jack socket It's a neat piece of kit but the volume only works if the tone pot is slightly on, if I turn the tone completely off, the volume control does not work. Is this normal, or is there a fault?

Mick has just purchased my Lakland 44-51 Custom P Bass, he came to my home to try it out first, and we had a great chat about music and football for a couple of hours. Mick is a great guy and very trustworthy, the whole transaction was smooth and pleasant.

Just sold a lovely American Pro Jazz neck to Dave, the transaction was very smooth with great communication. Great guy to deal with. Cheers Brian
