  4. I've been using DeMixor for a couple of years now, I buy ten songs at a time and it works out around £1.07 per song. https://demixor.com
  5. Here you go https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B075L7CR1F/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  6. Thanks Aidan, the "cheapo" set should arrive on Monday so I will see how I get on with them first, if I struggle with them then I might take you up on your kind offer. Cheers.
  7. Totally agree! I went to the Birmingham store around six months ago, I spent about ten minutes at the bass section, which as you say, is boring, expensive, and uninspiring, none of the staff could be bothered to ask if I needed any help, even though I was the only customer in the whole store at the time. I went there with money in my pocket to spend, but came away very disappointed.
  8. So would these two different ways of wiring a P bass give tonal variations, or would they sound the same providing the same value cap was used in both?
  9. I've wired quite a number of P basses over the years by following the instructions included with the pickups, or by searching online for wiring diagrams. I'm practically minded and can turn my hand at a lot of things, but I'm not technically minded, so my question is: Why are there so many variations when wiring a P bass? There are only two wires coming from the pickup, and only two pots, and yet there seems to be a variety of ways to do it. Here's an example of what I mean where the cap and wires are going to different lugs on the pots, etc.
  10. 👍 Cheers, I've just ordered some from Amazon for £3.99
  11. I don't want to spend between £75 and £100 for a set of specialist nut files to only use them once, so is there anything else I could use to slot a nut? Although I guess that to do the job properly, then I would need the proper nut slotting files. Alternatively, any idea how much it would cost to get a luthier to do the job for me? Thanks in advance.
  12. Steve's friend has just bought my Fender P bass, he might not be a member of BassChat, but he is a very genuine and honest person. He came and collected the bass and we spent a couple of hours chatting all things bass, and a few other things too. Deal with confidence. 👍

  14. Is this still for sale? I've PM'd you a couple of times this past week.
  15. That's what baffled me, he was a regular driver for my address, and he would know that I usually leave the porch door unlocked if I was expecting a delivery or collection, why he didn't bother walking down the steps to the door after actually driving down my driveway to my house, still mystifies me. 🤔
  16. Having just read mcnach's post about his displeasure with DPD, I thought I would share my experiences with them. A couple of year's ago I ordered some expensive hi-fi separates, I received an email from DPD stating that my goods were delivered safely and successfully, so I went to my front door and was horrified to find nothing, it turned out that the driver had delivered my goods to a completely different address about half a mile away from where I live. Luckily for me, the person who received my goods was honest enough to bring them round to my address, but he did say that all the boxes were left on his doorstep in full view of the general public, and had discovered them when he got home from work. Fast forward to a couple of month's ago, I had a bass that needed returning to GuitarGuitar which was scheduled to be collected by DPD. Despite the fact that I'm retired and would be home on the day of the scheduled collection, I had a bad feeling about this collection because of my previous experience with DPD, so I decided to set up my video camera in the front room looking out of the window, and I was so glad I did. I was sitting in the back room when I received a notification stating that their driver had attempted to collect the bass, but reported that there was nothing to collect, there was no ring of the doorbell, or a knock on the front door, so I checked the video and what I saw was shocking, even by "dodgy courier" standards. The video clearly shows the driver get out of his van, walk to the top of the steps that lead down to my front door, then stop, turn around and get back into his van and drive off. I had left the bass in my front porch ready for collection, so if he had bothered to walk down the steps, he would have seen the bass sitting there because the porch has clear windows. Obviously I reported this to DPD, and sent the video to them, but there was no apology, or offer of compensation, all they said was that they will attempt delivery the next day. From now on, if I order anything online, I call the store first to ask which courier they use, and if they tell me it's DPD, then I won't order from them. DPD.mp4
  17. Thanks for your kind words Marc, I will certainly carry on playing at home, and I think if a vacancy came up with a local band then I would probably consider it, but the thought of long trips to rehearsals and gigs just doesn’t appeal to me anymore. Btw, I think the bass is practically sold now, just waiting for confirmation.
  18. The 2013 - 2016 American Standards are the best Fender basses of the lot, in my opinion.
  19. I totally agree Gabriel, that's why I have an Am Std Precision and Am Std Jazz, but sadly, time has caught up with my body, so they both have to go. 😥
  20. At the age of 71 with ongoing arthritis and other health issues, I have decided to call it a day and sell all my gear, so up for sale is my: Fender American Standard Jazz (2016) in Black with a Rosewood Board. It’s all original, plays and sounds just like a J Bass should. It’s in good condition but it does have a few marks here and there, there are also a couple of small chips at the bottom which I have highlighted in a photo. It comes with the original Fender hard-shell case, and extra Black Pickguard. Weight: 8lb 12oz You are welcome to try it out at my home in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. The serial number dates it as September 2016, so this would have been one of the last of the "American Standards" to roll off the production line. Collection preferred, but I might consider delivering up to 100 miles for fuel costs. Courier is possible at buyer’s expense.

  22. I think they are done by lots of different session musicians and bands because I use them to upload bass covers to YouTube, and some of them get taken down because of copyright issues.
