Took Bilbo up on his very kind offer. There really are some brilliant people on Basschat!
The 'hot' wire from the p/up goes to the jack tip. The other wire goes to the jack sleeve (earth...). Repeat for other p/up; job done.
Yes, this. There are no volume or tone controls on Jerry's basses.
-
If you want to do it like Jerry's then just wire them both to the jack. The price depends on what pickups you want, I guess. Jerry's sound is all high mids and almost nothing else. I don't know which pickups will get you near that sound though. Sorry.

I'm thinking of hanging a couple of basses on the wall and I was wondering what experience people have had with these? Which hangers are the sturdiest? Which should I avoid? etc. Cheers.

New Fender Adam Clayton and Dee Dee Ramone Signatures

I dare say that the Ramones influenced far more bands than U2. And Dee Dee Ramone was a songwriting genius. -

Fender have finally announced the Dee Dee bass as coming soon. No spec or anything, just a couple of pics. -
Turns out its a problem with the auto biasing system. Should be an easy fix. I seem to remember someone on here saying that they had the same problem and its a common fault with these amps.

Just noticed that Sam Ash and another US retailer have the Dee Dee bass listed. No stock though. -

I wonder what happened to the Dee Dee sig? Haven't heard a single thing about it. -
Preamp tubes perhaps? Do you sit the amp directly on top of a big cab?
Possibly, but all of the valves look fine as far as I can see plus the amp has valve error lights, all of which read ok. The amp is currently on top of a 4x10.
Check how the electrical power is, where you are playing. Is it possible you may have power fluctuations where you play? the Super Bassman may be draining power on it's own.
Again, it's possible but I've been rehearsing there for a while and never had a problem with any other amp.
I had this happen on my Matamp and the fault was the input jack. I had a similar thing on an SVT and it was a pre-amp valve. What I'm saying is get it looked at by a pro. Is it still under warranty?
It should be under warranty seeing as I've only had it since the summer. I'm in two minds whether to get it looked at or just ask for a replacement. I'll see what GAK suggest.

I bought a Fender Super Bassman this summer and it has a problem... It regularly loses volume. It'll either drop really quiet or keep going between normal and quiet. Has anybody had this problem with an all valve amp before? The valves all look fine and I think I've figured out that it only happens when it's been on for a couple of hours and got pretty warm. The fan is working fine too. At first I thought it was the bass but I took it to bits and it seems fine. It appears to be ok through a different amp too. Thanks for any input.

Last time I saw Anti-Flag their bass player was using some kind of Mesa Boogie head (not sure which) with a Mesa 2x15 and an ESP Vintage 4. It sounded incredible! HUGE lows and top end that cut through too. There are a lot of different sounds on their records but that live sound was so good! Haven't tried to copy it. I wouldn't come close with my rig.

I ordered two sets of strings at around 3pm yesterday. As soon as the order had gone through I realised that my account still had my old address on it. I called them up to see if I could change it but as I'd literally just placed the order it hasn't arrived on their system yet so the guy took down my address and said he'd change it when it came through. 10:30 the next morning and they're here! That's how you get repeat customers.
I have heard the line 6 is a great piece of kit but was wondering, is it worth going for the G 50 or is the G30 good enough?
I have a G30 and our old guitarist had a G50. Construction-wise the 50 is maybe a bit sturdier but sound-wise I couldn't hear any difference.

Why didn't I think of that?! Thanks.

I bought a Fender Neo 410 a few days ago. The cab comes with castors which are not yet fitted. I was wondering what people's opinions/experiences with castors on bass cabs are. I'm aware that fitting them will, in theory, give the cab less audible low end but, in practice, is it really that noticeable? That said, I can't help think that there must be a reason not many bass cabs come with castors. I like that the cab will be easier to move about but don't want to sacrifice tone. There's a little note with them that says to remove them when the cab is in use but I'm not sure how em easy that is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
This. Many times. I went for the -15db acs custom mould jobbies http://acscustom.com/uk/product/acs-pro-15/ (Boots audiologist can do the mould easily and cheaply enough). I started with the 25s but they were too occlusive. So it's now loud enough, but no ringing in ears post-gig. It does take a while to attune to them, but it's worth it in the end.
This. Word-for-word.

Nice! Hope you're having as much fun as I'm am with mine!

I am selling an Ashdown CL-610 bass cab with a Roqsolid padded cover. Here is the info from Ashdown's website: "Handmade in the UK from the finest Birch Ply Ashdown's Classic Series bass cabinets feature custom drivers, dual Speakon/jack connectors, horn control switch, heavy duty vinyl covering and vintage red grilles. The CL 610 delivers huge bottom end with real definition and is the ideal solution when an 8x10 is overkill and a 4x10 just isn't enough. Rated at 1200W / 4 Ohms, the CL-610 Large features 6 x 10" custom Eminence drivers. The tilt-back cabinet also includes bar handles, castors, kick plates and slide rails." However, there seems to be no horn switch (and I don't remember seeing a horn when I took the grille off) and it has 900W written on the back plate. This is a great sounding cab and is also fairly light for the size. There are a few scrapes around the handles and a couple of scuffs in the tolex but no tears. The custom grille in the pictures will be removed and replaced with the original red grille.
Do you have the Fender 610 ?
Sadly not. It's an Ashdown CL. Great cab but just a bit too big for what I need right now.
