I am selling an Ashdown CL-610 bass cab with a Roqsolid padded cover. Here is the info from Ashdown's website: "Handmade in the UK from the finest Birch Ply Ashdown's Classic Series bass cabinets feature custom drivers, dual Speakon/jack connectors, horn control switch, heavy duty vinyl covering and vintage red grilles. The CL 610 delivers huge bottom end with real definition and is the ideal solution when an 8x10 is overkill and a 4x10 just isn't enough. Rated at 1200W / 4 Ohms, the CL-610 Large features 6 x 10" custom Eminence drivers. The tilt-back cabinet also includes bar handles, castors, kick plates and slide rails." However, there seems to be no horn switch (and I don't remember seeing a horn when I took the grille off) and it has 900W written on the back plate. This is a great sounding cab and is also fairly light for the size. There are a few scrapes around the handles and a couple of scuffs in the tolex but no tears. The custom grille in the pictures will be removed and replaced with the original red grille.
Do you have the Fender 610 ?
Sadly not. It's an Ashdown CL. Great cab but just a bit too big for what I need right now.

I've been looking at the 4x10 version of these too. Thinking of getting rid of my 6x10 for one but am yet to hear one.

Getting a re-wind wouldn't necessarily make them sound the same as they once did though. The wire gauge, number of winds and wind pattern will all have an effect. Although, depending on the problem they may be fixable. -
There's a reason promoters keep offering pay-to-play gigs... Because bands keep accepting them. If bands stop going for it it'll stop happening and we might get back to a point where we actually get paid for playing gigs. Plus I'm fairly sure selling tickets comes under the umbrella of promotion. Which is usually done by promoters.

I had one of these years ago, when I started playing. As all Peavey stuff, it's a decent sounding amp and pretty good for the money too. Fairly loud from what I remember. Also, as with all Peavey stuff it's built like a tank, will run forever and weighs a ton!

I haven't used the ABM but I've been using an Ashdown CL610 for a few months and it's a great sounding cab. One of the plus points for me was the size. I'd had enough of hauling an Ampeg 810 around and 410s have always seemed a bit too small to be able to hear properly. Although that might just be me. Plus it has Neo speakers do it's pretty light too.

There really isn't a great deal in the city centre. Although 'between the hotel and train station' actually covers most of the city centre in this case. There's Musicroom in the Victoria Centre which is ok but generally a bit overpriced. There's the Drum & Guitar Centre which is sort of near the station, if you take a small detour. Music Inn is in the opposite direction to the station but only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. There's Millennium Music too, which was once Academy Of Sound, near the Drum Centre but it's pretty pants these days. HotRox is good but it's the furthest out of the way from where you'll be. There's also a brass/woodwind shop called Windblowers near the hotel too, if you're into that sort of thing?

I had a 450H for 7 or 8 years and never had a problem with it. Sounds great, looks great and won't break your back.

I've got some flats lying around. Maybe I'll give those a try. Thanks for the idea.

I reckon I need to change the strings on my acoustic bass. Is there any reason I couldn't put electric strings on it?

My friend works for a company in upstate NY that make custom drum heads and amp grilles. They just made a drum head for The Bacon Brothers which features Kevin Bacon. And his brothers.

Brian Cox played keys in D:Ream before he was known for being a physicist.

A few wrestlers I can think of... Chris Jericho sings in Fozzy. Lita sang in a band called The Luchagors for a few years. She also sung on my band's album. Jeff Hardy had a band that were terrible. Not sure if it's the same band but he did his current entrance music. Also terrible. The Rock plays guitar, I believe, and once did a song with Wyclef Jean. John Cena released a hip-hop album a while ago.
Aren't the brothers from 30 seconds to Mars actors?
Jared Leto is. In fact, the band started before he made it as an actor then got back together when he was a big star. Not sure about his brother though. Gary Holton, who played Wayne in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, was the singer in Heavy Metal Kids. When they reformed a few years ago the guy that played Nick Cotton in EastEnders was their singer. Then he was replaced by Phil Lewis of LA Guns. I suppose everyone that's ever been in Neighbours should be on this list. Didn't Christopher Lee do a metal album a couple of years ago?
Michael Cera, actor of divot pilgrim, does actually play bass in some band, I heard they are ok. Him who was lead in Mice of Men and CSI:NY plays bass too.
On Scott Pilgrim, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who played Ramona Flowers, recently started a band called Got A Girl who have just released a record. And that guy is Gary Sinise. He plays bass in Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band. He also once played in an episode of CSI:NY.

Juliette Lewis had a band called Juliette & The Licks who were a really solid rock n roll band. Dave Grohl even played drums on their third album. Neil Buchanan (off of Art Attack) was in a metal band called Marseille back in the '70s. They reformed a few years ago and I heard that they're not the greatest band but he's apparently a really good guitarist. Zooey Deschanel has played in a duo called She & Him for years. She thinks she only got the role in Elf because she could sing. Johnny Depp has been in and out of bands for years. He played some guitar on an Oasis album and has played the odd song live with Alice Cooper, Marilyn Manson, Aerosmith... These are a few of those that I can think of that are genuine musos and really have in interest in making music. On sure there are plenty that do it solely as publicity stunts too.

I don't see why you would get criticism for wanting to sound good and look good. I could understand it if you took a 6ft high drum riser and pyros to a pub gig but a PA and lights... That's just regular gig gear.

Recommend, yes. Free, sadly not. Our guitarist is a great designer/illustrator. I mean, really really great! You can find him at http://www.bingercreative.co.uk/

I had no idea that was him in the video. Small world. I like his bass!

My good friend has a pickup company called Crash Magnetic Transducers. This week they introduced their first bass pickups for Precision and Jazz and they sound really REALLY good! Everything is 100% handmade in an old lace factory in Nottingham. Even down to the coil winding machine thing. Take a look at http://www.crashpickups.com if you want more info than I'm capable of giving.

Check out Danko Jones. He's brilliant!
