1/4" patchbay that can take speaker output?
ahpook replied to 0175westwood29's topic in Accessories and Misc
I built my own 2-way selector with a large Hammond box and a mains toggle switch. A 3-way would obviously need a switch like the unit @Doctor J has but other than needing the appropriate drill bits it was very straightforward. And a good excuse to break out the soldering iron, as always -
These folks ? https://www.geminipickups.co.uk/ Very good - I've used both their guitar and bass pickups and I've been very pleased. I've a set of Dawn Lightnings in one of my jazz basses - a lovely, slightly mellower sound than your usual jazz units. I think they're great. Their Degenerate SB 'EMG'-style (with one of the coils hotter than the other) is a really nice passive pickup with a more focused sound than your usual humbucker - iirc correctly they accentuated the difference in windings for me to allow them to be coil-tapped for a jazz pickup tone. Huge improvement over the EMG-HZs I was replacing. I've also fitted a couple of my friends' guitars with their mini humbuckers and it was smiles all round. Nice folks to deal with too. HTH

Assuming the effects power supply is happy to pass the current needed for the Ant - a couple of amps by the looks of things - you should be fine. I strongly suspect it would. The Cioks manual isn't too clear about this though, perhaps an email to them might be in order just to dispell any doubt. It would certainly make for a nice compact set-up.

Stupid question - why do some basses have two batteries?

This, bang on. -
Yes, me too. I'm too old to synergise.

Your post might possibly put off others loaning them money for 3 1/2 years at 0% interest. They strike me as a bunch of shysters, given what you've shared in this thread. I'm really chuffed you got your dosh back. Hopefully this thread will serve as an education for other prospective creditors, sorry....customers.

On the left, the infamous mudbucker. On the right...

An adenoidbucker ? All rather nasal, I'd imagine -

I've converted my Spector basses to run at 18v rather than the stock 9v. Any excuse to switch on the soldering iron -
Version 2. It's black. 'Nuff said.

Robert Robinson voice on/ "Would that it were, would that it were.."

Sadly, that's very likely to cause grounding issues.

I'd not say it was an uncommon problem. Unless you can check out the schematic of the pedal you're trying to use it can be a bit of a crap shoot as to whether the phase is preserved or inverted. I have an LPB-1 in my effects box which I've had to use a few times over the years to correct phase issues in my LS-2 loop with noise pedals. Most recent one that springs to mind is the 'boutique' version of the Blueberry Bass Overdive which inverts phase. YMMV, of course.

Hey, nice work ! Well played that Clarky !

There was a band called Rothko who had three bassists.
-
Indeed. No great music was ever made without cross-pollination.

If I liked a couple of the bands mentioned, I'd get in touch. It's an advert, not a manifesto.

As has even said above, you're probrably hearing some 'studio magic' on the bass so emulating it exactly could be tough. If it were me, I'd try and get something similar to get the vibe, but not sweat copying it exactly. Some kind of blended distortion would suffice IMHO. At an audition I'd be focusing on my playing (and showing the charming, erudite and stunningly good looking chap I am )...not so much on getting the exact tone. Good luck - hope it goes well ! Do let us know how it goes.

I might like the look of a bass, but unless it pleases me ergonomically I'm not interested. Any neck dive is usually a complete no-no to me, as is a nut wider than about 40mm. Pretty basses are pretty basses, but if I find it hard to play, I really see no point in them.

It seems everybody got mixed feelings about the function and the form.

I'd advise getting onto Gumtree, JoinMyBand, Facebook groups and so on. such places often get short shrift on this forum but I've had success finding people to play with through them. In fact one band I found through Gumtree was exactly the 'Mum & Dad' set-up the OP mentioned ! Good luck @How1, keep at it and something will come along...you may need to kiss a few frogs along the way, but such is #basslife

It uses a a transformer, old school The three position switch changes what impedance the pickup feeds into - tapping the transformer at different places on the coil gives three different sounds. HTH

My solvent of choice also.
