1. I bought this lovely Jazz off here last week, its a fantastic bass absolutely superb to play and in excellent condition but I confess I'm more of a Precision man these days. Originally this was for a trade but now its for sale as I have found a nice P bass however I am still interested in a maple neck MIJ or USA. The bass is through body strung a nice light/medium weight with good balance. It's also very red and has a 'parchment' scratchplate, all original and includes strap locks & gigbag. There are a few light marks and dings but nothing nasty or unsightly. Action is super low and the neck is really fast albeit too slim for my tastes. The serial dates it to 2000/2001. It is the pre S1 switching model. This is now for sale for what I paid for it and it really is a bargain at £500 .
2. Mike to edit it go to your initial post press the 'edit' tab at the bottom of the post then select 'full editor' you can alter the heading from there. Bass plays great restrung and set up. All the best!
3. By the way great bass and Mike is a real gent to deal with!
4. Shaftesbury's have quite a chunky neck - slim nut width but fatter than a say an Ibanez.or Aria.
5. Nice! Never seen a black Shaftesbury could be a CMI or if it has the original TR cover it's either a very rare one or a refinish. Great find that.
6. Bump
7. I got this recently but I need to make room for another project. Its really light and plays OK, the truss rod turns and everything works as it should but it could do with a set up. The truss rod cover is broken and there are a few dings to the body but nothing structural. It balances nicely and could be a great little bass with a bit of work. I replaced two of the machineheads, turned the nut round and put the strap button on the right horn - as it was strung left handed. £70 picked up posted for an extra £20 in the UK. It's Korean made probably 15 years old and is nicely put together.

What's the weight of it please?
10. I'm a real fan of adobe audition - you can get a demo version of it and the earlier version is called Cooledit Pro which I think is available for free as it is no longer supported. Both are great for track editing and as a multitrack and very easy to use.
11.
A bit more - it would be worth seeing a photograph of the rear - this looks like an earlier Ripper, the later version had a tray/retainer inset into the back of the body rather than simple holes for through-body stringing. I favour the earlier version.
Yes my early Grabber has this simple hole arrangement and I think it works better than the later multiple string 'tray' retainer, a view of the back would be good!
12. This is one of my Road Worn Jazz basses, I initially thought the roadworn concept a bit naff but having played them they really are superb instruments, anyway I have my eye on something else so one of my basses has to go and this is it! It's been gigged once but mainly used as a backup for my other Jazz so it is 'mint' - well mint for a Road Worn anyway! It comes with gigbag and original tags and price tag (these retail at a hefty amount of ££££). It's light and well balanced and sounds fantastic.I'm looking for £695 picked up but am willing to post at buyer's cost in the UK. It plays really well and is newly strung with GHS Boomers. I'm not looking for offers or trades I will try and post better pics over the weekend.
13. I got this for a multi-media player and on the move recorder - its not in the league of an ipad but is ok for basic online tasks and running youtube/Basschat etc over wi-fi. It also has a basic recorder built in to get ideas down quickly. Its running the Android 2-2 OS I think. Its boxed with charger and USB lead plus instructions. I'm looking for £70 posted within the UK. 14. That's a decent price and it looks original I'm more of a Grabber man - these are 'posher' and more versatile as used by Greg Lake amongst others. Someone will love this!
15. http://manchesterbasslounge.com/ Here we go he's a decent chap bought a bass off me last year.
But since you aren't, you left it alone? Fretless bass punk, hmm.
Ha yes perhaps he had heard Punk Jazz and taken it literally! Dunno what he was trying to do to the poor thing, it had been truly butchered I have a load of pics of the rebuild I may post someday.
16. Sometimes the heart rules the head I know - just a thought why not ask Drew at the bass lounge to keep an eye out for you I think they offer a bass finding service - they will take the risk out of it for you?

18. This is my 70s one, the machinheads are pitted and the pickup pole pieces but the chrome is pretty good given the fact it was sprayed snot green, hacked to death and had the frets pulled out by some Cumbrian punks in the late 70s! Despite all this and the replacement scratchplate and TR cover the pickups and hardware are working and original and the trussrods are fine, it's a great player following a refret & quite few pounds worth of work by my local luthier! I was lucky with this one as I picked it up locally and spent nothing like what you are potentially going to on your lefty. Believe me bargains turn up in the daftest places. I'd hang on for one especially in this financial climate!
19. Post them up if you can it would be good to see them.
20. Unfortunately its a righty - I'd also be cautious about his offer to lower its declared value although it may save your charges it means it won't be fully insured and it's illegal. I'm not knocking the seller as I have had no personal dealings with him but he does seem a tad keen to shift this on.
21. I wouldn't spend that much to import an unseen/unplayed bass - especially since you are liable to be paying unpredictable import charges. Most I've paid was £400 for a G&L several years ago and it cost me around £125 VAT, sales tax and import duty on top from the US and that's after shipping! Why not buy my lovely green 4001 and have it professionally refinished and converted - to you sir 650 quid! It may be my overly cautious nature but It's a hefty investment and remember you could get John Carling at John Birch or any number of UK luthiers to make you a lefty to your own spec for £1700. Not that I'm encouraging infringement of any copyright or anything of course.
