Heh heh. Good for Doug. So he's back to wearing his flat cap and smoking Woodbines is he?
Keep it. Risk being a little posh.
I daren't - I'm fearful that my grubby northen hands will tarnish the sparkle of the gold plating and my lack of public schooling will prevent me from fully understanding the intricacies of the sophisticated active circuitry.
Hot rod P bass? How about a USA made Thru neck BC RIch ST bass (basically a PJ bass with thru neck, pointy headstock and no scratchplate)
Sorry not a fan of the pointy look :-(

To clarify basses of interest to me are ; Rickenbackers, Fenders Precisions with maple fingerboards especially and Hotrod P basses, JV Squiers, Marcus Miller Jazz, Gibson Grabbers, Epiphone Rivolis. Musicman Sabres, G&L ASAT. I also like slightly off the wall English stuff like John Birch or Shergold ( anybody out there got a Shergold 6 string Bass or a Fender Bass 6 !?!). I'm not interested in 5 string basses.

Had a lot of interest and am still waiting to hear back regarding a couple of possibilities. Information about this era Spector can be found here - http://www.spectorbass.com/about/spector_years_2.html
When you say EMG, do you mean the EMG designed/Spector branded ones, or pucker EMGs?
These are certainly proper EMGs - the logos are still there but faded.
  14. Cheap bump!
  15. I have two JVs an '82 Precision - just after the transition to the Squier logo - and an '83 Precision. The '82 has the most incredible neck, as good as any US vintage Fender or reissue that I have ever owned or played. I've never held onto a US Fender or any Fender bass for that matter for very long but my '82 is a keeper. Yes these are worth the money and will increase in value as surely as a stack knob Jazz!
How much?
I'm not looking at a cash price presently I would ideally want a trade down plus cash obviously dependent on what is on offer.
I played this bass on Sunday, and take my word for it, it's fabulous. I would definitely be having it myself if I had the cash.
Thanks Russ yes I could sense you were rather taken with it! Short scale bump!

A G&L ASAT bass could also tempt me!
  22. Got this with a view to using the body for a project but its actually a nice bass in its own right. I was told it was made by a luthier but it looks like a parts bass to me put together by a luthier. Its solidly made and the body is quite heavy suggesting decent woods. Its shielded and has active pickups with a disconnected tone circuit ( possibly an easy fix). The neck feels nice rather more Precision bass than Jazz but fretting is good. It would make a nice cheap standby bass or something to modify. There is no back coverplate and there's a bit of gaffa over it at the moment. It has a really punchy sound.
