Had a lot of interest and am still waiting to hear back regarding a couple of possibilities. Information about this era Spector can be found here - http://www.spectorbass.com/about/spector_years_2.html
Hi, I have a lovely rare Japanese Fender aerodyne jazz in burgendy no scratchplate and smoked chrome hardware. Never seen another like it. has p/j pickups. was originally bought in Japan, they never sold this configuration in europe or us.
Sorry not a fan of these basses thanks anyway
When you say EMG, do you mean the EMG designed/Spector branded ones, or pucker EMGs?
These are certainly proper EMGs - the logos are still there but faded.
  4. Cheap bump!
  5. I have two JVs an '82 Precision - just after the transition to the Squier logo - and an '83 Precision. The '82 has the most incredible neck, as good as any US vintage Fender or reissue that I have ever owned or played. I've never held onto a US Fender or any Fender bass for that matter for very long but my '82 is a keeper. Yes these are worth the money and will increase in value as surely as a stack knob Jazz!
How much?
I'm not looking at a cash price presently I would ideally want a trade down plus cash obviously dependent on what is on offer.
I played this bass on Sunday, and take my word for it, it's fabulous. I would definitely be having it myself if I had the cash.
Thanks Russ yes I could sense you were rather taken with it! Short scale bump!

A G&L ASAT bass could also tempt me!
  12. Got this with a view to using the body for a project but its actually a nice bass in its own right. I was told it was made by a luthier but it looks like a parts bass to me put together by a luthier. Its solidly made and the body is quite heavy suggesting decent woods. Its shielded and has active pickups with a disconnected tone circuit ( possibly an easy fix). The neck feels nice rather more Precision bass than Jazz but fretting is good. It would make a nice cheap standby bass or something to modify. There is no back coverplate and there's a bit of gaffa over it at the moment. It has a really punchy sound.

  15. I had my Kasuga taken off yesterday, never had it on before, no references to the R brand and whilst reading the 'trademark infringement' message from eBay up popped a picture of a Retrovibe in the main eBay ad ....... funny old world
  16. Some of those names are in my blocked list too!
  17. Another great trade with Russ, very pleased and hope you enjoy the Fender, a pleasure to meet up again and chin wag all things bass! Take it easy mate. Ash
  18. Now price dropped for a quick sale!
  19. Pics would be nice I'm interested!
  20. Thanks chaps, yes one of those rare ebay bargains - it's got a slightly deeper neck compared to my JVs but much lighter in weight - its a classy bass and I would've happily paid more, these 90s MIJs are well worth scouting for.
  21.
the bridge saddles are different to my tokai. Looks older if anything and i think mines an '86
In the original ad he says that the saddles have been changed, also it would be an earlier model.
  22. I think that honor should go to Mr deanovw but I'd be happy to deputise if necessary!
  23.
I'd say the neck at least is Tokai judging by the machines 50 year old Fender machines look like this
Agreed as soon as I saw the heads I thought Tokai Jazz Sound. Tokai also rather cheekily used an L prefix on their early MIJ serial numbers. Approach with caution.
