1. Sold subject to the usual... Thanks Matthew!
 2. Me and Mrs OldGit have a set of parameters we have agreed, many years ago. Me and my main band have another set of rules re frequency of gigging and rehearsing due to work and family commitments and other band involvments.. For example we don't take bookings in August. That's the band's "Marraige Maintenance Month" when do family holidays and stay in on Saturday nights to try to redress some of the damage playing in a band does to family relationships. The guys in the band that play in multiple other bands work the first in the diary system, unless something extraordinary comes up. Then we may get a dep. Both sets of rules get bent for interesting gigs such as big money/big stage/family friendly or just different. All other gigs are deps booked on a one-off basis and although I play regularly with one band I'm not a member as such. When, BC*, I used to play in three bands it was first in the diary and "who can play without me?" situation. I had a bunch of deps who I could call on if I was already booked ana second band gig came in for teh same date. The bands were cool with that.
 3.
Body is made and the base coat of polyester is on it.
That's a short and "pithy" message
 4.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I prefer to keep it cabled...!
Wireless from bass to the start of your effects then a second wireless at the end of your signal to your amp .. Nice and clean. A brace of fairly med-top end wirelelss units will keep your tone and shouldn't set you back much more than a grand
 5. Just tell them and give them notice, say a month, and offer to help them get a new person up to speed. If you have gigs booked you should honor them but then just move on. They will find their way without you...
 6. I think these claims to fame should be authenticated with pictures ... Seems everyone wants to be associated with the great womble bottom ender Even Chris Spedding claims he was a Womble ....
 7.
They're not lacquer cracks - they're smile lines. That's a beautiful looking bass.
ha ha yeah laughter lines ..
 8.
Unfortunately Im going to have to extend my apologies. I was looking forward but I'll be in north wales doing some live TV. Could be worse i suppose Have a good one chaps Col www.Lowrievans.co.uk
and you'd rather do that than be with us?? Have a nice one
 9.
Well it's got to be Tomastik innit? Edit, OG was first, OK.
Great Minds, Howard
 10.
I'll see if I can find out what strings etc. Tomsk used.
I always assumed Tom's'k Infeld were signature strings
 11.
Simple tredders _ you sell me you 62 and you buy OG's JV!
Works for me .. You know you just need a picture of your US work of art and you can play this one without the museum archive gloves
 12. Sold Big Italian bass bill coming soon, (hopefully!) and a reality check means this bass is not going to be my jam bass 1982 Fender Japan JV series Precision bass This is not a Squier JV Series. It's got a Spiral bridge, reverse "rivet" tuners, cloth wire, green cap, US pickups. Alder (?) body, light weight, great neck, good frets.... and Spectacular lacquer cracks. These were the Japan domestic market basses built at the same time as the "Big Fender/Little Squier" logo export bases from US parts and is teh series that really upset Fender USA who were having QC problems at the time. Supposed to be budget line they allegedly blew the US versions into the weeds... I've played and owned a lot of P basses and this is my second favourite of all of them. The best was my real 1962. However I am a pragmatist and this isn't going to get played once my Wood and Tronics arrives. So off it goes.. I'm looking for £875. Plus shipping. Not trades, thanks, unless you have a Shure 520DX harmonica mic and/or a suitable 5 watt valve amp for harpin' such as a Peavey Royal 8. It comes with a "dustcover" Fender gig bag There's a ton of info about JV's in general, including these basses, on here: http://www.21frets.com/ I'll let the pictures do the talking:
 13. This is a really generoud thing you are doing, Paul. Those pup surrounds remind me of teh ramps people have.. How about putting another matching piece of wood between the pups? Put it on springs or foam as with a pup so it can be raised and lowered...
 14.
gary, i know exactly how you´re feeling but don´t sell the yamaha or the wal for a gas attack. you´ll probably regret it one day. if you don´ want to spend so much money on a vintage fender than you should consider looking for a jv or sq squier. i own 4 old fenders (´74 p, ´75 p and ´76 p and a ´75 j) and 2 squiers (´82 p and a ´84 j). i love them all. most of the gigs are done with the squiers. the are as good and as beautiful as the fenders. they also have nice mojo and are a little bit lighter than my fenders. they just have that sound that we all know and sound just right in the band. regards, sandmann
His circumstances have changed ... but I still offered my Fender JV P bass Light and fab it is for sure ..
 15.
Indeed you did. Unfortunately, not this thread - I subscribed to the thread for this very reason, and then found they went on sale on the 29th and had all gone shortly afterwards. Just look for a closed thread, that's the one...
Hummmmm
 16. Errrr.. Did I miss them again? Where do I have to watch to get warned of them going up on the ecom site?
 17.
in this vid go to 4:50, it will be clips of me, showin my entertaining side, you guys are more than welcome to take a few moves or ideas =)
Cracking stuff!
 18.
+1 there re the Hamsters. The 'don't have to do drugs, just get up out of the chair quickly' gag has been in the last 3 or 4 times. And that walking round during the encore with the wireless kit after swapping instruments has become just too tiresome. 10 years ago I thought they were the mutts but these days seem a little pedestrian, sadly.
I saw them for the first time this year and I thought they were great. I also recommended them to a few people. That's what this is about - a show to build a following, bring in audiences. The Hamsters thing just reinforces the message .. be aware that your audience wants to see some variation, especially the regulars. We need to move the show on in the same way that we move the setlist on. Workout a number of transitions between the sections and make sure you don't do the same one every time.
 19.
Spot on, it was Cutting Crew. ( in a quiet voice) I actually quite like that song. I'll get me coat.
Me too, now if anyone would sing that at a jam .... I'll trade you 10 Hey Joe's for one Died on my @rse tonight ...
 20.
Gimme a break, it was only the two Kings of Leon numbers this gig. I'm nearly 60. They're a bunch of school kids compared to my age. Nailed Manhatten and the Robben Ford stuff though but only because I have all the albums and love that stuff anyway. Got round the Yodelice number as it seems to have been on the radio here a lot. All the rest was old dross really but still fun to play with different musos each time.
Oh I'm just envious that you get some warning. I just get some kid start playing something and I have to guess what it is and where it's going, without be ing able to hear teh chords or vocals clearly .. Die on my @rs3 some times ...

 22.
I do have an advantage in so much as there is a website and people tend to contact me or the drummer via e-mail a couple of days before if they want to do something not too mainstream (for here) which was the case with the two KoL numbers and an 80's ballad thingy so if I'm lucky, I'll get a chance to have a listen on You Tube.
awwwww That's cheating
 23. I go to jams regularly and sometimes get to stay up to play bass for the other jammers... Challenging for sure .. Some stuff I know well and other stuff (Blink 192 seems to be popular) I've never heard of and the jammers give no clues, not even a name or key sometimes .. It's fine if i can hear myself AND the person singing/playing lead .... however at a few of the jams I go to the person running the sound doesn't understand that .. Then it's tricky... I do like it though, the challenge is exciting
 24.
ok cheers guys ...where'r my hex keys again?
You may not need the voodoo tools .. put the strings on and leave it a few days to see how it settles ..
 25. A normal bass neck will stay as it was unless you are changing to a different make or guage of strings, or different tunings.
