1.
i just want to say thanks very much for letting put a link to my ebay auction up on here. someone asked me how much it weighs and to be honest i really dont know. i want to avoid taking it out and playing around with it as much as possible in case i damage it. if anyone has any questions about it let me know.
Sorry but if you want to have any credibility as a seller on here you'll get it out and stick it on the bathroom scales. Saying things like that suggests you don't actually have the bass, you just lidfted the images from some other ebay auction and you are going to rip someone off. So What does it weight, mate?
 2. Knows enough to give the info that suggests it's a real one but prices it low enough to trap the unwary ... sniff sniff fish
 3. Ten years ago they would probably be selling that for £2k and we'd all be going "ooooh, too much" and in 10 years time it will be £20k and we'll still all be going "ooooh, too much" Meanwhile the £3k ISA I bought 10 years ago is now worth £2.5k... So, if you have the money and can just store it in a case with the right preservatives it represents a reasonable use of your investment money. I'd need to win the lottery to actually play that on stage though.
 4. I think you'd get a different answer on basscollectorschat.com

 6.
Thanks very much for this guys! I do appreciate a lot of what is being said here and while I've done pretty well with "originals" bands for my relative youth, I realise I am entering a field where I know precious little, but I am aware it will need good promotion which costs! Agreed as well on that we are going with mainstream (no insult detected ) material but we are trying to play around with arrangements where applicable. Whether this is what we use as a selling point or not, this is where my lack of knowledge could be an issue Will get reading on the above though, many thanks again guys!
+1 on don't under price yourself. Minimum fee is £100 per person plus £100 for the band coffers, plus expenses. Make sure you are polished and ready before gigging though... Your Unique Selling Points points will have little to do with the arrangements of the material you are playing, or the material itself if it's mainstream (nod's to Teej). There will be at least 2 million other function bands within driving distance of every gig you get an enquiry for who will be playing more or less the same stuff, give or take a tune or two. Check their websites for set lists. That's what works at weddings. What sells function bands is outstanding professionalism portrayed through your marketing material and a big handful of other people saying how fantastic you are, in person and as testimonials on your marketing material. That and actually being great entertainers for audiences consisting of toddlers, disaffected tanagers, 20-60 ravers and grannies...
 7. Pick the funk out this Dance Floor fillers thread
 8. +1 on the above. You have to treat it totally differently to gigs in pubs, clubs etc. Here's the "tips for paying weddings" thread. Well worth reading it all the way through http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...amp;#entry56924 and here's my "how to do a function band website" thread. PM me for more info http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...6&#entry936
 9. Any pics of the actual bass? Those press shots always look like "artists impressions" to me.
 10.
I'm free so I'll come. It'll be my first ever Bash (of the bass kind, that is.) [*]Bailey Jett Pork Pie Hat
I have a Bailey pork pie too but was planning to wear my Jaxon Newsboy cap
 11. In general for a bass to balance well the strap peg has to be more or less over the 12th fret. So .. Sticky strap is one option or wear it very, very low. The latter seems to be the way most players do it. As Michael has suggested, relocating the strap button may work as it does seem to work for T-birds. http://www.lysator.liu.se/~wizkid/music/thunderbird_mod/ Other than that the main cure for a dippy neck on this shape of bass is to sell it and get a different shaped bass.
 12. More chance of selling these things if you do individual listings with the type of bass, or whatever in the title and pictures of the actual instrument or amp rather than generic images . I've linked to this from the Cardiff Bass Bash listing for sale section
http://cgi.ebay.com/EPIPHONE-BY-GIBSON-BAS...=item2303cdd7e0
A little OT but.. fair, I'd say. He just read the headstock. I imagine he knows nothing about basses and I don't know if epiphone made a p bass bodied, explorer necked bass. After seeing the Gibson Jimi Hendrix strat recently it seems possible.

 16.
unsure of the specifics. The 'baskets' i.e. The gob cover bit are £15, so anything other part than that is bound to be even crazier...
Yup, £76 from Thomann http://www.thomann.de/gb/shure_r59_sm_58_kapsel.htm I'll jut buy a newish used SM57/58 and swap the capsule I guess... I'm happy with the relic body and the mashed up basket on mine. It looks like Otway has used it for a few years .. Natural relicing too I wonder if Bravewood do mics

 25. You end up miming on a Telecaster gu1t@r A very young Steve Forbert.
