I quite like that. Don't forget the body top has contours though on Lodestones, I suspect that limits the scratchplate shape, but those pictures don't really show up those contours.
Yeah. It has contours, so why fit a plate at all?
He should also be aware that insurance aint worth a f*** if the instrument aint in a case, this is true with most couriers.
Not so. In a bass transport cardboard box, the type they get shipped in, is genarally OK.
The Saints won...??? Pino with The Who seems such a waste
Session man... I suspect his band manager disagrees with you. Loved the cymbals I believe Roger's scream on "Won't get fooled again" was not him or maybe him sampled from the orginal mixed with a bit of something ... Whomever got them that gig and the theme tunes for the CSI TV programmes is doing a mighty fine job. At least Springsteen (last years act) is American and has current albums etc. I suspect questions were asked about that ....

Lodestone have a new bass. The "Primal Instinct" Doesn't seem to have made it to their website yet, however £900 gets you this "modern take on an old favourite" What is it with their designer. If you can't see that the scratch plate shape absolutely destroys the elegance of this bass you need to go back to graphic design school. The headstock has already been discussed (and thoroughly dissed) on here but it's not been improved .... IMHO, of course.
It was great except for Pete, he looked like a drunk old man at a barn dance. Where was Si last night?
Fender now do a 5 string P bass and they've done it correctly - simply add a string.
Well almost correctly .... The pickup's upside down -

I'd try to weave "vintage" into nn ad for a P bass too . Get more looks, though possibly not more bids .. Meanwhile: "I love all the old classic music. Bands like Take That, that my mum used to listen to." Pixie Lott quoted in the weekend Guardian ... I'm not sure which is worse that she thinks Take That are old and classic or that she considers them a band ... Kids these days eh?
I've just watched this on Youtube. What does it take to get some praise out of you lot?? It looked pretty damn good to me, warts and all!!
+1 Great for a couple of pensioners and their team of young carers It's a general audience, not 100% fans as at a Who concert. They have to play a greatest hits medley, especially the TV theme jobs (biggest roars from teh audience) .. and anyway they haven't actually done much for 30 years .... The lights around the stage were great Van Morrison? Nah ..
Rave on, matey! And thanks for the gig report on the new bass. Sounds a good 'un.
Getting your custom bass delivered is a bit like meeting your pen pal for the first time in the flesh after a year or so's correspondence. You know a lot about it but it's not until you spend serious time together that you can equalise all aspects of the relationship. It may not take my customary year to get used to this one but it will take a while and a few gigs before it feels as natural as my other basses. After all I've had a P bass of some sort since 1973 and one feels very much like another. This is different.

Oh and it's certainly a "diffferent" shape Bow tie and no hat .. What was I thinking?

Gigged the Ergon last night. A few pick up height tweaks as I went along and it is great. On the P pickup it sounds like an Alder P bass which is basically what it is under the curvy skin A nice warm thickish P bass sound with good mid punch and great articulation, fast response and good sustain.. A little J pickup adds a little bark. Full J pickup on a noodle over the Walk on the Wild Side riddim had Dai our Guitar/Keys/Banjo/Madolin player, who also plays bass of course, leaping out from behind his keys to stare at the bass to see how I was making the Jaco tone . He'd not noticed the J pickup. I'd been inspired by the Jaco documentary on the radio on the way to the gig. That gave I a laff .... A few muscles ache today, as the playing position is a tad different, and I missed the B string. I've been playing the P5 in this band since I got it 4 years ago so that's understandable. At home I thought the lack of forearm chamfer would be a problem but live it was fine. Oh and the gig was fabulous.

"plate number" would be one from 1960, according to guitar dater .. Avoid..
