Seems to be a bit Marmite for some people I like it though ... Mark Graham and I were arranging a get together to compare our new W&T basses and Mark Stickley at Bass Direct offered to open on a Sunday afternoon for a mini bass bash .. It's not limited to Wood & tronics basses but if you fancy a go on mine come along .. Thread is here

 6. Sat jamming to BB King's various youtubes of The Thrill is Gone yesterday I was suddenly struck with the thought that the W&T is a mighty fine bass. It was a nice emotional moment..
 7.
Very very limited? Ten thousand?
+1 Just how many Iceman Bass customers are there?
 8.
I went through a lot of basses to find one I couldn't fault then I found this Shuker. TBH, I wasn't sure at first whether I liked it or not - it's a joy to play and a beautiful and solidly made instrument but it just didn't sound right. I spoke to Jon Shuker about it and soon after changed the pups - Nordstrand Dual Coils for some custom made Wizards and now I have the bass that'll see my playing days out. It astounds me every time I play it. With the Nordstrands...
Awwwwwwww I'm currently GAS free for basses and I think I have the three that I'll be keeping for ever. Shuker P5 Wood & Tronics Ergon and my Japanese 62 RI P bass.
 9.
Having just listened to David Hood on Stevie's post, and rated Son of A Preacher Man in the "basslines that surprise you" thread, I thought this guy needs more exposure on here -
Oh, Where's that? I can't find it... love the bassline on Son of a Preacher man
 10.
Too right mate. They should all go in the skip.
I'll get one for just outside my house. Just drop them in..
 11. Darken rosewood? You've oiled it? SIMS are the people who can add LED's and who refinish basses (and build them) Have a look here http://www.simscustom.com/html/home.htm
 12.
I'm getting more reports of 121mm from elsewhere. Trawling the statistics I think I see a pattern forming here. I have done what I need to do now so thanks everyone for your assistance. Keep 'em coming though let's see if we can turn up a rouge model.
Fiesta Rouge? Should be pretty easy .....
 13.
I can't stand the P-bass, I love the vintage legacy en all but the sound is woolly, clanky at times and I just hear my finger squeaking and beating on the strings. Has a really boxey sound and it doesn't stand out whatsoever. I prefer something with a hell of a lot more drive - to my tastes bass should be as loud as guitar. I loathe being called the quiet one, if I played one of these I would never get noticed. The neck doesn't feel too bad, but it decreasing speed of playing massively! I also prefer resting my thumb on the edge of a soapbar on a four, as an anchor, instead of a screw. I dont like the look either unless its sunburst, tort and rosewood (has to be rosewood!! or it sounds too thin) with ashtrays. I'd buy a 62 RI cos of the look when its slung low, but i'd end up selling it due to the weak sound. The PJ configuration sounds a lil better but again too wooly. Overrated massively, can get that sound on many a bass. - Worried of Carlisle/Cardiff
Dear Worried of Carlisle/Cardiff, Firstly: It is perfectly normal to dislike Precision basses. Your feelings of guilt and inadequacy are also understandable and nothing to worry about. No, really! I suggest you avoid contact with Precisions at all costs , especially ones with non-Fender pickups, as the risk of your trying one you actually like is very high. You should also avoid seeing any bands with a Precision bass in them. This includes live, on TV or video. You can get a list of monasteries here

 15.
Any point in me carrying on with this now OG and Mark at Bass Direct have stepped in?
Sorry John. I didn't mean to spoil your fine offer to arrange this. Just wanted to try to keep it "in the family" as it were and I knew Mark did a deal for BC members.

 17.
I don't need the other hassle, and I don't have to collect the money.
Drunk Groom: Thankssssh guyssss.. Here's your money .. Me: This is only half of the amount we agreed ..... (thinks: and all bl00d7 £50 notes - very bl00d7 useful ) DG: eeeerrrrr aaahhherrrr whaaaaaaaa? Had to wait for them to get back from their honeymoon forteh rest of teh agreed fee. In short the guy was a div... Top tip: Always send an email a week before reminding them of teh important details like start and stop times, fee agreed, etc. Then count the money there and then when they give it to you, and in front of them.
 18.
..thinking about it, how squishy are these? Would a couple of 2x10s stacked end-on-end with a lead sled head on top be as stable as it would be on the floor?
They are great for all the reasons already stated. You should approach Mark at Bassdirect for a deal. 21.
In classical, blues, latin or jazz circles this wouldn't even be an argument....
True but the point here isn't "should they stop because they are old" (old??) but "should they stop because they can't do it live any more?". There's a difference. Jazzers slow down and modify what they do (Check out Ornette now) and bluesmen start out sounding 100 years old anyway....
 22.
I read somewhere Pino has his basses custom built, NOT by Fender, but I can't recall which British builder it was
BGM this month: Sei made a few. Not P basses though.
 23.
This is what happened with our band. Never intended to play any weddings really. After playing one as a kind of favour, it all took off. We probably play one wedding a month, which is plenty for me. Only so much of "wonderful tonight" i can play!! So yeh, go out, play some shows and get your singer to make it known to whoever may be watching that you play functions/weddings etc. And, as everyone has said, a good bit of online marketing is sure to help! Just a quick side question. What seems to be the most popular choices of 'first songs' other wedding bands play? I'd say ours was definitely Wonderful Tonight. Although "Im Yours" is definitly getting to be a popular choice.
We don't play the first dance ourselves. We offer our CD.iPod playr instead.. However this was the "First Dance Wedding Songs - The Official Top 10" from some DJ's website What makes it official is anyone;s guess.. Mind you this was a year ago so it's probably "Wild Horses" and "I'm yours" (which we play for a called barn dance dance) now Don't Wanna Miss A Thing by Aerosmith Everything I Do (I Do It For You) by Bryan Adams Amazed by Lonestar You're Still The One by Shania Twain From This Moment by Shania Twain Have I Told You Lately by Van Morrison You're Beautiful by James Blunt Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden Angels by Robbie Williams I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston
 24. Ain't that the troot'..
 25. How many orginal people have to be left for the band to still be called The Who, do you think? Could Macca and Ringo go out as the Beatles?
