Total Watts

1. Finally got around to watching/ hearing Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs concert film I Sky+'d several moons ago. I took 2 things away from it: Carl Radle was a great purveyor of tone and taste In 1970, I'd have signed away Lennon & McCartney's royalties for a go on Rita Coolidge
2. The gig at London Poly when Hendrix sat in with Cream
3. No love for Louis Johnson's part on "Billie Jean" ? you can't sit still...
4. always liked the driving bassline on the Spice Girls' "Who do you think you are." there, I said it...
5. massive Pat Jennings sized hands and the bass popping out from the 'Are You Being Served' theme tune
6. My absolute favourite: Robbie Shakespeare's deep punch on Grace Jones' "Private Life" Honourable mentions, McCartney's fat thwack on "Hey Bulldog" & Alan Spenner's raw as cold steel sound on Roxy Music's "Same Old Scene"
7. CD for Chic completeists £5.00 + £1.50 for postage.
8. I've been single for a long time. I think I've just found the lady to tempt me back again
9. Apologies if posted elsewhere. Anyone listening to Jazz Library at the moment.
10.
Cool. The Bassline is from 'Heard it Through the Grapevine' by Gladys Knight. Right?
Correct !
11. When I first got hold of a copy of Standing In The Shadows, there was an appeal for The James Jamerson Memorial Project, whereby you could send of to the States for various Jamerson items, such as T-shirts. This poster is one of those articles. When I got it in late '90, I had it professionally framed. In its frame, I'd like to ask around £20 for it. Collection only, which can be arranged either at NG23 (Newark, A1) or Reading RG1. The Frame size is 75cm x 50cm. In fact, I have two of these posters. The other is loose and can be posted for £10 + £2.75. Or, I can take the first poster out of the frame and post that as well for the same price. If they're of interest to anyone, or any questions, please PM me. (Spotters badge for the bassline).
12. High end: A Herbie Flowers model, 50 year old strings optional. Squier cheapie: *ahem* A George Harrison Classic Vibe Bass VI
13. I'd really like to try one of the medium scale 32" jazz basses Fender Japan currently make. Apart from my first bass, a Hohner Jack, I've never been able to get along with 34", long scale instruments. I don't really enjoy handling a large one. (F'narr).
