1. Spotted this one - the same but without the scratch plate Ebay Item number: 130153094322 Odd Precision .. not a "lyte" as billed
 2.
I have no axe to grind and nor do I have an affiliation with any courier but where does it say you won't get more than £150? I've used them and spoken to the main office explaining that I was sending a £1000 instrument and would be taking out the appropriate level of cover, was this acceptable, the answer... 'yes'! At the time I did get the name and full particulars of the person I spoke to and they were happy to do this.
I know they don't make it clear , and, believe me, even if 20 people from Royal Mail tell you "incorrect" information (as happened to me) you still have a real problem convincing them to pay out ... So ... from the senditnow website "www.senditnow.com operates under the Parcelforce Worldwide brand, which is a trading name of Royal Mail Group Ltd" You are dealing with Parcel Force ... FAQ, terms and conditions: http://www.senditnow.com/faq.html#terms Claims for damaged stuff "Senditnow.com uses Parcelforce Worldwide as their chosen parcels carrier, and the form has full details of where this needs to be sent. Once this is received by Parcelforce Worldwide, they will acknowledge the claim within 7 days, but a full investigation and decision can take up to 8 weeks, so please do be patient while they look into this thoroughly for you. For damage claims, it is really important that you keep the contents and the original packaging as Parcelforce Worldwide will probably want to send out a qualified damage inspector to look at the parcel. You must submit your claim within 30 days of delivery." From the Parcel Force wrapping guidelines: http://www.parcelforce.com/portal/pw/conte...iaId=load105018 "Any instrument strings should be loosened. Musical instruments will only be covered up to £150 of compensation for loss or damage." As I have discovered over the last 6 months the Royal Mail website is The Law according to Judge Dread and the Customer Services bit of Royal Mail. If you don't play by the guidelines (published in a locked filing cabinet in the basement of the planning department of one of teh moons around Alpha Centuri for 10 of your earth years) you will have the devils own job to get your compensation (or pm me and I'll tell you who to call) Simply put, use someone ese.
 3. Crackin' bass have a bump
 4. Sir you need the services of Dave Dearnaley just around the corner from me. http://www.shedpickups.co.uk/asp/product.a...For=&PT_ID= 029 20462953. He has been cited as the best man at this by Guitarist mag amongst others and the last review I read of reliced basses was using his work as the benchmark. The constant fug of "jazz club cigarette" smoke that hangs inside his workshop is an integral part of the process
 5. So I've just started a "good couriers please" thread Please chip in if you have one to recommend. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...ost&p=65287
 6.
Just looked through their exclusion policy and here are 'senditnow's exclusions... Musical instrument hard cases and suitcases when used as external packaging It 'doesn't' cover the case but must cover the contents! As for increased compensation you have that option at a later stage in the process.
Must? ha ha well I bet if a forklift runs over that bass you'd not get more than £150 back ... Oh those crazy mixed up kids, Still never shipping a bass via Royal Mail or any of its subsideries ever again ....
 7.
I have no affiliation whatsoever but I've been using http://www.senditnow.com/ They charge £11 with £150 insurance or £22 with £500 insurance and they ship anything up to 30kg, door to door in the UK. It 'IS' actually ParcelForce! Not similar to or like ParcelForce but the one and the same. Oddly they won't insure the case your bass is couriered in but they do insure what is in the case! Ironically if you send a case without a bass inside it will be covered. Worth looking into.
That's odd ... I just asked senditnow.com if they have the Parcle Force £150 maximum for musical instrumenst and she said: "Thank you for your e-mail enquiry. Yes that is the maximum allowed for all musical instruments through Parcelforce Worldwide. As www.senditnow.com operates under the Parcelforce Worldwide brand, which is a trading name of Royal Mail Group Ltd, all parcels posted through these services are governed by their Terms and Conditions including prices, delivery speeds and maximum compensation offered. " Where does it say up to £500? ... not that I want to take on the dear ol' Royal Mail again .. I just think these things should be made very clear... and I have a need to ship another bass ...
 8. Thanks to MB1 for all the bumps .. This is sold subject to the usual ...
 9. You'll be needing the knobs for the US pots then rather than the 6mm japanese/asian version ... You can drill them out as it's only a few thou diffrence but it's easier to get the real thing..
 10.
MB1. Bumping Bambi.......Surely theres a law against that?
Not in Ottawa
 11. I thought you'd taken the knobs off to stop your drummer upsetting the delicately positioned fine tuning of the settings on that P (as in Vol On full and Tone On Full - just like mine 90% of the time Loads of knobs around. - see the parts etc thread. Genuilne Fenders are best though, flat tops not dome tops. Dome tops are often passed off as p bass knobs but they are actually Tele gu1t@r knobs ... I'll get my anorak ...
 12.
I've had a go (my only try EVER) on the upright in the pic and I've had a couple of tries with the Jazz, but the P is never normally out n about! I ought to go use them more often really the Jazz is an absolute DREAM to play.
We have very long generations in our family .. I'f my son waits as long as I did before becoming a father my grand son will only start thinking bass is cool and my ancient Shukers extra cool (say 13~?) when I'm about 100 .... I think I may have given up by then ...
 13. Sold, subject to the usual
 14.
Si that post is from 14th Feb!! It's Gaf - who posts on here as gafbass02 or something like that. Good spot though!!
Yeah I spotted the date but it's a slow forum from what I could see, it doesn't say he's sold it so if he still has it the price might be better

 19.
Hi, The optical bit refers to the control circuit. I use an LED and an LDR (light dependant resistor) - the LED lights more or less depending on the amount of compression and decay you set, this changes the resistance of the LDR which in turn acts as a volume control for the valve. I use 2 LED/LDR circuits which gives the hard/soft settings the only difference is the colour of the LED as ones blue and the other green. The LED's are driven by an op-amp control peak detection circuit, it's a complex design using 5 two stage op-amps (that's 10 op-amps in all!) and 2 valve stages for the signal path. As many of you know it's taken me over a year to get this the way I want it. The blue LED on the outside of the box is really showing you what the LDR's are seeing. Using an optical interface reduces the noise that voltage controlled op-amp designs have problems with. All the top studio compressors are optical. Yes, yours is like the picture but there is an extra switch (boost) on the top plus a boost pot on the back. I am testing the second batch today and I will post what I can later, so most if not all will see their compressors tomorrow or Monday. Dave
Cheers Dave, that all makes a lot of sence. Next bass gig is on Saturday 29th so it would be spiffing if it could get here before then Thanks Matey

My LMK and Schroder lived out in the living room for a bit whilst I got used to it but it's now back in the music room (er understairs cupboard ) practice, rehearsal and acoustic gigs I have a 100 watt powered monitor with eq, from Skytec. It doubles as my stage vocal monitor as well .. and you could almost get 4 for the cost of that used PJB suitcase.
