You pay £2 for a cup of coffee? I'm broke in the real sense of the word (or expression), as in I can't afford to go out, or buy £2 coffees or £6.66 pints! I buy what I need, and I don't need a hard case atm. However, I had the insurance woman on the phone this morning, and she assures me the cheque will be sent today. 14 months after I was burgled! I shall treat my bass to a nice new secure home.
Sure I pay £2 for coffee - That's 20P for the coffee and £1.80 for a couple of hours in my office extension/meeting room in the coffee shop ... I guess beer is 25p for the beer and £1.75 for the pub environment .. same difference really .. Try Direct line ... Never had a problem making claims. They authorised the payout of our burglery last year over the phone and that was several thousand quids worth of digital whatnots being recycled into the community ...
I wouldn't pay £40 for 6 pints of beer! But then, i'm broke and don't go out. Ta for the link, i'll get a couple of them when I get my f*ckin insurance check!
Well I don't drink beer so I have no idea how much it is but that's only 20 Lattes
anyone got a shot of them wearing a pork pie hat?
Nice to see the old tit'fer thread back Them? Here's a couple of dodgy hat wearers, Rich on the left depping for Mustang Sally (on my Shuker p5) and me, in one of my Pork Pie Hats, on the tenor ..
Thanks Simon - its not something to have on list of things to do..... The inquest was a barrel of laughs as well.
I bet. That's an awful experience. I always feel sorry for train drivers when people choose their train to jump under. I guess it must have been something like that.

I'm on their mailing list, aparrently, probably due to complaining that the cardboard bass advertised for £30 on the Cardiff Gumtree site actually turned out to be £30 plus about £30 postage as it was an advert from cardboard bass central in the states somewhere .. Anyway they just sent me this link to a bassplayer.TV film of making one. ------------------------------------------------------ Greetings A/all, Bass Player magazine editor Greg Olwell posted a video of himself making and playing my Bogdon Box 2-string Upright Bass. http://bassplayer.tv/index.html?req=1&...tv_j07_boxbuild a formal review will be in Bass Player Magazine January 2008 issue. i'll host a HUGE open-jam party in Feb 2008. thanks chris badynee www.BogdonMusic.com
Contrary to popular opinion you dont have to go fast to roll a car. One was caused by a front tyre blow out and one was caused by driving over the dead body of a driver who was thrown out of his car and under my wheels. Of course you may be a smug bastard who thinks they dont drive fast enough to have an accident but you may be unfortunate enough to be wrong.
Woooh .. that must have been traumatic. Life really is too short ....
Heh, I wouldn't go that far! If I could afford hard cases, i'd get them as I drive to my gigs/practices and have a large car. I'm just pointing out that using gig bags doesn't mean you have to treat your bass like a baby or it will get damaged.
Hard case £40, delivered. Thats two sets of strings or, what, 6 pints of beer? http://www.spider-engineering.co.uk/music/...sp?id=3948-3980 Daft not to, really
basses aren't really that fragile though. Maybe if you're in a horrific car crash your bass with be knackered, but, you've just come out of a near death experience, probably not that bothered about your bass. Even if it was in a hard case it might not have been saved. I've never been able to afford a hardcase for my bass, as i've always had more pressing things to buy. I've never had any problems with my basses, they get thrown around quite a bit in my car, get squashed between amps and stuff. I know this is going to sound horrific to some of you, but there's no damage. Don't be so protective or your bass will never have any balls!
You have to watch out for a bass in a gig bag. I use them all the time but I am always aware that some drunk audient may fall on it one night. In a Hiscox you can stack stuff on it, the drummer can drop his stand case on it and it will survive if that drunk spills his pint on it or get s pushed into the band's gear pile during clear up time ...
I always gig with two basses not because I might break a string (I have never in 30 years broken a string in a performance situation) but if something goes wrong electronically or tonally one bass might work better than another. (To date only one battery failure and that's due to me not checking) I always travel with two cases, and have a useless Fender badged double bag..., so I am ordering this: <a href="http://www.thomann.de/de/ibanez_double_bag...artner_id=47692" target="_blank">http://www.thomann.de/de/ibanez_double_bag...artner_id=47692</a> They are available in the UK now, I think Dolphin's are the cheapest. £60 or thereabouts
Have you got it yet? I was thinking of one too ..
At the risk of appearing completely ignorant, who's Mark King?
Hey look, I know this is a friendly forum etc, but if you ask that sort of question without at least bunging "name of person" + Bass into google and/or youtube you are going to get a reaction as if you were being funny ... You can at least do a bit of ground work yourself if you don't want to appear like a numpty... This is Mark King's funniest youtube apperance by far http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOAY-zURlGA

Mega congratulations.
Oh that stuff will all probably turn up in Cash Converters Norwood in a few weeks time .. Well at least a BC good guy got it rather than the other person in the shop, or some collector who won't play it ... -
For that amount I'd be looking at a new Mark Bass LMII
+1

I was going to bid for it too Over 5 days to run and at least 18 bids. Peter
"The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale." You certainly should do a "reasonable amount" of searching to make sure it's not nicked, preferably before the deal is cold. At least call the local police station. If it is stolen property and you sell it on Ebay and the police come round and pick it up you get nothing. Zero, de nada in compensation and you probably have no come back on CC either. I think your wife may have a few words to say if that happens ..... -
Hey Dood, looks like we're in for the long haul then. Jon sent me an email last night saying he was currently quoting 5 months delivery time. (FIVE MONTHS?!!) But he also said if he manages to get through the flood-induced backlog of orders, it might be less. I was thinking that I could maybe put the Smith 6 money in an ISA and watch it grow a bit during that time though. Alun - I've got a rough idea in my head about how it might look, and I'm imagining a similar kind of look to a nordy or a stambaugh with the maple fingerboard against redwood facings. Might try a few sketches though to see if I can get a better idea...
ha ha yeah well He has been underquoting build times a bit and then getting caught out by floods and supplier delays, deaths etc.. So I think he's being more cautious/realistic these days. That all sounds brilliant, Stevie .. and a strike back for basses against (keyboard) bass synths
No he plays piano, but tbh you don't need to be a bassist to be knowledgable in the field of amplification even for basses.
Ha ha yeah Ok ... Let us know how you get on.
Looks fantastic mate! How are Jon's Precision pups? Si
Mine's a custom made overwound passive one, same spec as the JJ Burnel P bass he makes. Mine has a loud fat sound .. Very diferent to my Fender MIA bass that I had before. It's a fatter sound with more overtones and harmonics. So IMHO, much better... but then I woudl say that
