2.
I think £350 BIN is reasonable. That's what i paid for mine a year ago that was, quite literally, as new. I think i may have gotten it at the cheap end of the spectrum too, so £350 now doesn't seem so bad What he says about hard wearing paint is a lie though! It actually chips quite easily.
Ah but that was then and this is now ... With so much financial turmoil and this close to the hardest Christmas for years I'll be interested to see what this goes for.
 3. Ah teh truth finally emerges You went to rehab didn't you?
 4.
Good luck.
I couldn't affrod what he wanted so it's back on £350 BIN link
 5.
I found the same with my 'ray. I loved the look, and it had a fantastic neck, but I found it got lost in the mix, which really surprised me. Coincidentally, I was using an Ashdown at the time - perhaps it was that!
I am not alone then
 6.
300 squids. Telt ye.
the other one ended with no bids .. I'm talking to the bloke trying to get a deal Meanwhile last one that sold was a "perfect as new, one owner, 5 times played at home, all case candy and EB case" - £400 .. and that was a few weeks ago when times wern't quite as hard and Christmas was not upon us
 7.
you couldnt hear a 'ray in the mix???
Is that unusual then?
 8.
This puzzles me, as they have pretty prominent sound and I find it hard to imagine my SUB getting lost in any mix. Even at our practice rooms, where I'm forced to plug into any number of old POS amps I can still be heard amid the cacophony. Was your pup a genuine MM job? Often upgraded pups can lose that MM punch completely. Or (and I'm really scratching here) maybe the strings just didn't agreeing with it.
Nah I think the Ray plus Ashdown stack didn't agree with my ears ... Mind you the guy I got it from was selling it but keeping his two band Ray as it sounded much better - to his ears , I was just glad to get rid of a Warwick in exchange for the Ray .. Anyway that Sub went for more than I wanted to spend.
 9.
Ronnie Ross on sax - probably means nothing to anyone except Bilbo
What Ronnie Ross who played the fabo Baritone solo at the end of "Walk On The Wild Side?" Nah, never heard of him Meanwhile On Topic We have a general policy that if somene asks us nicely they can get up with us and play one number ... I have even handed my bass (and band) over to strangers and gone off to dance with their wife, on occasion However, for your own face saving reasons, you do have to be good enough to do it and have enough stage experince to manage the giging "workplace". By that I mean that jumping up with an established band is totally different to playing on stage with your own band. The dynamics are different, the cuing between a bunch of experienced players is subtle and well established and you can end up falling flat on your bum, rather than looking cool ... We always ensure the stepper up has the maximum support we can give them but some have ended up looking a bit daft. Oh and that trio probably has no bass player for a reason - like the organist does it with his feet or left hand, so there may be no sonic "room" anyway.. And you may find you get thrown a solo on a tune you don't know ,, That brings back memories of being a confident but inexperienced sax player (but long experienced gigging musician) and getting up with a band. First number was a blues, no problem, second number was a "standard" I'd never heard of in a key I'd never heard of and with a very strange arrangement. I looked cool for the first one and a total wally for the second ..
 10. I wonder if we'll get a new thread ....
 11.
Of course it's not passive!
zactly
 12. I didn't get on with my Ray a few years back - a 3 band 4 string ... Just couldn't hear it in the mix .. Is a Sub different?
 13. The otehr one is near me too ... Must be South Wales Sub sale day ...
 14.
I got mine for £350 which was considered the going rate back then but for some reason they regularly seem to achieve £400-450+ these crazy days. Well worth it though.
OK Ta
 15. ooooh Local! How much do they usually go for? I kinda like the drain cover
 16.
that's just a quote from the guy, and he doesnt know im going to resell it (i also dont think he would care either, hehe) ... i think i can still negotiate... as for the shipping, well, i can only ship via Fed Ex and nothing else (there's only one shipping company available in my town) ... and it is pretty expensive. i could try unbolting the neck and see if it would cost less (i will just refund the shipping balance via western union). i take photos of receipts so you will know exactly how much i paid for it can you PM me a price you'd like for it? i also dont know if this is one of those good Bacchus basses... ive only played one and they sound better than some Fenders (i wont say ALL FENDERS because for some reason, those basses can look alike but sound totally different from each other)
OK It's not the bass for me - well not at that all in price - 750 USD plus VAT and duty and handling fee ... Just contributing what I know.
 17.
Fleeting basses are sumptuous - shame about the annoying website
Ha ha yeah well ... I'm available to help there .. Will work for basses .. etc ..
 18.
Could email them and suggest that they start doing Rickenbackers...
Ha ha yeah go on
 19.
On that theme...
I just went googling for the Banksy version of Nighthawks only to find that this was it Oh dear .........
 20. Impressive, none the less. Phil's mojo will be in it. I guess it has "a little of the Oirish in it " Bass Player mag this month has a feature on 25 spikey basses.. worth getting of you want to compare ..
 21.
Interesting, as John was of course a horn player... Dennis Bovell reckons that horn players make the best bass players.
He is, of course, totally right
 22. Oh yes! Our famous Vampyre (attempted) rip off victim, Sorry .. INCX, to clarify, are you offering that for sale here or is that a quote from the guy who wants to trade it for your guitar, with asking if someone here wants to buy it from him? Sorry for the confusion. Too much blood in my caffeine stream ...
 23. Ok Checked the pics and that's a Headway Baccus - ie not the "Baccus Universe" which are made in China .. IMHO it's a reasonable amount for the bass but the shipping's way over the top, especially when you add the duty and VAT (which applies to the goods and shipping) Of course, as it's an exchange you can always add £250 to your price for shipping as well .... Baccuus info page That bloke loves them
 24. There are two types of Baccus basses - they have a hand made in Japan line and a kind of second market Squier / Rock Bass type other line .... Best to find out which this is. Also $250 (USD) is way over the top for shipping (I assume it's from Japan) My Man in Japan charges this for shipping to the UK EMS (3-4 days) 85.00 GBP SAL (2-3 Weeks) 65.00 GBP SEA (6-8 Weeks) 35.00 GBP
 25.
Hi Nigel, I had a very similiar problem on my Stagg. The jack socket never made a good connection and it either cut out , popped or provided a hum. I took mine back to the shop where I bought it (the joy of buying from a shop and not the internet) and he quickly replaced the jack socket and it's been fine ever since. Cheers, Jim
Mine doesn't hum. Back to the shop with it. (assuming you've tried different amps, leads, rooms, lighting and distance from telly and laptop .. All of these seem to cause hum in my passive basses)
