Tuners arrived this morning. All good.

I ordered some Hipshot Tuners from them on Monday but have received no order acknowledgement, just the Paypal receipt. It'll be interesting to see just how long they take to arrive, if at all. Over the years I've only had one minor problem when they sent the wrong strings. I complained and they said send them back (at my expense) and we'll send the correct ones. I decided to keep them and eventually ordered again.

It seems to me that there must a business opportunity for an enterprising luthier to start producing fretless necks for EBMM and MM Sterling Stingrays. I, for one, would like to buy a fretless neck for a Sterling by MM SB14.

Just traded my Sadowsky UV70 for an excellent MM Sterling. He and Mrs Thor made a weekend of it and came down to Penryn to undertake the exchange. They even had time to make friends with the dogs. Top man.

Thanks to BaggyMan I've finally laid my hands on Sterling SB14 complete with a Nordstand pick-up. After fitting a set on Sadowsky Blue Label nickel strings and a bit of a tweak it is a joy to play. Having owned 3 full-blown MM Sterlings over the past 24 years the SB14 really is a little hidden gem. I now want another to convert to fretless.

Before I lash out on new strings has anyone tried flats or nylon coated strings on an MM Sterling or SB14?

At one point we owned two Ginetta G15s so I persuaded Mrs OBBM to have several Imps so that when they died (failed MOT) they became a good source of spares for the G15s. Unfortunately she did not appreciate the classic value and appeal of the Hilman Imp.😉

I recently purchased a Barefaced One10 from David. Very easy transaction and the cab was extremely well packed. He regularly checked its progress just to be sure that it arrived safely and intact. Thoroughly recommmended.

Back to The Star in St Erth last night for the second time this year. Quite warm but an appreciative crowd. I recently got asked to use an amplifier rather than DI into the Bose PA as band leader didn't want to bring his large Bose sub any more. Understandable as the sub is a bit of a beast and he is same age as me, old, so I recently acquired a BF One10 from @Mungobass and used it with a Tech 21 Flyrig and an MB Nano. More than enough volume and band loved the great tone. I had some One10s a few years back and didn't get on with them but last night changed all that. What amazing cabs they are. I now have gas for a second One10 again. Will my Berg cabs become redundant I ask myself?

This is a very interesting thread. I have a lined Rob Allen Mouse fretless which is great. I used for a whole gig recently and the band loved the tone however I found that I was almost continually looking at my left hand as my muscle memory is totally attuned to a 34" scale so I am also in the market for a reasonably priced fretless however not a Jazz bodied one. The Revelations look interesting, anyone know how much?

I couldn't possibly admit to playing the trombone, just as i won't admit to playing the bass. I took lessons from the age of 11 and played(?) in the school orchestra for several years. I just made in-tune sounds at the correct moments in the score. Eventually at the age of about 15 I was consumed by the dark side having listened to too much Radio Luxembourg and Saturday Club. My brief affair with the trombone was over and the lifelong passion for the bass began. One day I'll learn to read music and play it properly but time is running out. 😉

That is not a genuine Neutrik and being 4-pole should not be used with the Combo socket. I recommend you get a cable with genuine Neutrik plugs.
