Another convert here. I've had many different basses over the years, 4 and 5 string, Musicman, Lakland, Status, Shuker, ACG, Godin but the basses that currently feel, look and sound right are a '96 Jap Jazz and a 2010 Geddy Lee. If I'd have bought a Jazz instead of a Precision when I started playing again 20 odd years ago I'd have saved myself a small fortune.
That's easy..... 04/05 CIJ (R 002***) 96/97 MIJ (V 010***)
OK. I have a white plate from a 1996 MIJ V007*** Jazz which you can buy or borrow as a template to get a new one made. Any help?

What years are your Jap Jazzes?

You know what we say: "The bass doesn't exist until we see the pics." Hope it arrives soon On a more serious note I'm glad that you have finally resolved matters to your satisfaction.

From the OP's first post my interpreation of
flicked it onto stand by while i had a brew and let the valves all warm. Came back in, plugged the bass in and flicked on the power......nothing happened,
is that it was fully powered with no speaker attached. Hope it's OK.

There is nothing wrong with putting flats on your CV jazz, or in fact putting them on any bass. At the time that the Jazz was introduced the only strings available were flatwounds. I have TI flats on a 62RI jazz and they sound and feel great.

Both audio/mic and DMX use a screened pair cable and XLR connectors. They are both wired the same way. Audio cable has a nominal impedance of 70-ohms, DMX cable has a nominal impedance of 120-ohms. Audio signal is analogue, DMX signal is digital. Audio/Mic cable is typically lap screen, DMX cable uses a tight woven braided screen, like a transparent USB cable. The DMX signal is low level and susceptible to interference unless screened correctly. I understand that using an audio cable can effect the operation of the lights by losing data and in the extreme damage the lamp electronics. There is also Starquad audio/mic cable which has 2 pairs of conductors and an overall screen. The conductors are wired as opposite pairs into normal XLR connectors. This cable is very good for mics in electrically hostile environments and is used extensively in radio and tv outside broadcasts.

What is your favourite piece of music featuring a precision bass?
Obbm, I'd be after a Jack Socket to Jack Socket cable. I've got a head with Speakon and XLR outputs and another two heads with Jack outputs so a JS to JS cable would offer me the greatest flexibility for rig setups. Is that something you could provide through obbm Cables and if so how much would it cost? Kind regards, Kim
Yes that's possible with either 2.5-sq.mm. or 4-sq.mm. cable. PM me if you are interested.

How about a jack plug to jack socket cable? No need to modify the amp.

That's really good news. Keep at it. I know I've been through a protracted recovery myself but it's all come good now. Quite right, slowly, slowly ........ Thanks for the offer to try the Streamliner but I have had an offer from someone a lot nearer than MK. I also have some other ideas now. Oh Damn the Gas.
I have the Streamliner but i have tried the Mb500 as well as the Streamliner through the AE212 and id be happy with either .
Thanks Steve. How are you doin'?

I am in need of a new amp to drive my recently acquired Berg AE212 and have come down to a shortlist of the GB Streamliner or an GK MB500. Ignoring the price difference which is the better/more flexible option?

The Rane Model SM 26B Splitter Mixer is one of the most useful, yet unusual audio products available. In its most basic configuration, it is a six-to-two line level mixer. It will accept six balanced or unbalanced line level inputs which are applied to six Level and Pan controls. An additional stereo Master Input allows a total of eight inputs. The result of the mix is sent to an overall Master Output Level control and appears at the Left and Right Output jacks on the rear. In its splitter mode, the SM 26B can take one or two line level inputs and split these to any of the six Mono Outputs on the rear. The Mix/Pan controls in this mode control the level from each of the two input buses to be applied to each Output. Internal header blocks allow the Mix Output jacks to become an independent stereo out, allowing a total of eight outputs. The SM 26B may also be used as a six input, six output buffer amplifier in which case signal applied to Input 1 is delivered to Output 1, and so on. The SM 26B may also be used in a combination of modes at once. For instance, Inputs 1 through 3 may be mixed to the left and/or right output busses while at the same time Outputs 4 and 5 are delivering signal originally applied to the Left and Right Master Inputs while at the same time Output 6 is being driven from Input 6 in the straight through mode. The front of the SM 26B comprises a Master Input Level control, six Channel Level controls, six Mix/Pan controls and a Master Output level control. The rear of the SM 26B provides two Master Left and Right Inputs, six Channel Mono Inputs, six Channel Mono Outputs and two Master Mix Outputs. All Inputs and Outputs on the SM 26B are 1/4" TRS active balanced, 1/4" TS unbalanced compatible. Data Sheet http://www.rane.com/...ld/sm26bdat.pdf This unit is well used but fully working. It is missing one control knob and a few of the knob caps. £50 plus £10 postage.

I've not received any emails since the site revision. Tried all the settings but nothing. I was wondering if the mail server doesn't like my domain name. Some of them are funny that way.
Astonished at the level of interest in this amp. If anything changes I wil be back in touch.
Well you did try and convince me to get one when you brought it round for me to try a few weeks ago. It would go well with the SL112s and the AE212. -

Very interesting. Having just acquired an AE212 I shall have to try it out with my LB30.

Today I took delivery of a rather lovely Bergantino AE212 cabinet. Top condition, well packaged and very promptly sent. This is latest in a long line of deals. Owen is a top man to deal with.

If you are going to replace the last 2 metres with a super cable why not do the job properly and use it all the way back to the power station.
