You haven't said what make/type the cab is. The difficult part will be mechanical. The rewiring should be very simple. If the jacks are the flange type held in place by two fixing nuts and bolts in the diagonal corners the replacing these with similar Speakon sockets should be straightforward. If the jacks are the single hole fixing type then it's a different proposition as you'll have to drill out the mounting plate for the Speakon connector body and its fixing screws. Alternatively it might be possible to completely replace the mounting plate, connectors and all.

Also cable iteslf only needs to have 2 conductors.

4-pole Speakons were designed mainly for bi-amp PA cabs. Bass amps produce, in the main, full bandwidth signals and only need 2 terminals. For many years there were only 4-pole panel mounting sockets so these were all that manufacturers could use, but they only ever used 2 of the terminals.

Your options are: Change one end of your 4-pole Speakon cable to 2-pole - a straightforward task. Buy a new 2-pole Speakon to 2-pole Speakon cable.

Cheers, James [/quote] Funnily enough I've been trying to achieve this for some time and it's finally come together this week ready to get some feedback at the Bash tomorrow. Small belt-mounted box with two locking jack sockets, headphone outlet and a volume control, all driven from a PP3. The input/splitter stage uses FETs so is very high-impedance and shouldn't degrade the signal at all. Further development could be to add an active/passive switch, some tone controls for the headphone amp and perhaps an Aux input so it could be used in conjunction with a wireless receiver for monitoring. This is purely for my own specific use and I have no intention of going into production.

Initally I had an GK Fusion but it didn't do it for me. Then I got a TH500 and all came good. Also use a Mesa Prodigy. which also works well.

Foolishly installed an iTunes software upgrade this morning on my PC. Just checked the Recent Additions and it has magically appeared. Now I have to make it magically disappear as I'm not the slightest bit interested in U2 or their recordings.
