I think you can now get DI boxes which work off a speaker output, though I've never used one.
Yes after I'd written that I remembered that plus that a few amps take their DI out from an extra winding on the output transformer. Personally a 5-watt amp wouldn't work for me as it wouldn't be loud enough. I prefer to feel the air move.
That, in essence, is what the FOH PA does. All that's needed is the low-power valve power amp. There are 5w amps out there; no good with a DI out to FOH..?
The only way that would work is if you mic up the cab. The DI from most valve amps comes out before the power stage, and it's the valve power stage that gives the valve amp its uniqueness.

The physical size of the transformers, and yes you need transformers, and the height of the power bottles pretty much dictate things. 2U is a tall order. Marshall did manage to shoehorn 2 x 100-watt power amps into a 3u x 19-inch. It's the 9200 and its heavy. If one wanted a project then you could strip out one power amp and build a pre-amp the in there. That would get you a 3U x 100-watt amp Dood. I think I'll just stick with my Mesa Boogie Prodigy.
I think obbm is the guy to answer that. If your two signals are out of phase that would certainly weaken the signal
If there is a phase difference between the two signals then there can either be a reduction in level or in the worst case a total cancellation of the fundamental. All you can do is try it and see what happens. Have to stop now. I'm sure some others will be along soon to advise.
But wouldn't these pedals do it?
Of course they would but you said smaller and cheaper. A passive mixer can be made using 2 resistors, 3 jack plugs and some cable. You don't get cheaper than that, and a minimal footprint.
-
From what you are saying you just want to sum two signal together. This is just like adding left and right to make a mono. You can do thsi very simply with a couple of resistors as long as the two signals are of similar amplitude. If not then you need to add a level (gain/attentuator) in each path which turns it into a very simple mixer.
-
What do you want to add together and into what? You probably need a mixer.
Sims is £516 I imagine Status would be around £6000 for new neck and LEDs XD
Not £6000 but more than £600.
I'm interested to know if the fretboard needs to be removed to install them...my PDN Stingray has a lacquered neck & fretboard join so that worries me...
This was a complete new carbon-fibre neck and the LEDs were installed during manufacture. Probably not what you are after but an alternative approach to what you want. I guess you need to talk to Sims.

I wanted LEDs on my SR5 so I got Status to make me a neck with them. That was over 10 years and it's still going strong.
That actually looks like a TA3F connector in the pic too... so it's a bit misleading whether it's a jack or a mini xlr connector. It could be the case that the lav mic actually has a 1/4" mic on the end - but I would be surprised. Shure's system for example, use the TA3F connector irrespective of whether the transmitter is being used for guitar (in which case it will be a TA3F connector to 1/4" jack) or lav mic - which will have the TA3F connector on. I can't image for one minute that Line6 would build this transmitter with two input connector types... so the answer is... who knows?
The photo is the OP's link very misleading showing a TA type connector when it should be a TRS jack. Details are on the Line 6 Web Site and in the User manuals which are all on-line. The bottom of the range of the Line 6 systems have always used jacks for the transmitter input. The remainder use TA4F connectors the same as Shure and Ashdown. Only AKG use the TA3F.

Looks very interesting. It would appear that both use the same beltpack transmitter, TBP06, so it must just be the receivers that are different. The G30 being made to put on a pedalboard. The connection information is somewhat confusing. The web site says a "TS" jack whereas the manual says "TRS" and gives the following pinout details. Tip = Signal Ring = Bias Voltage, +5v Sleeve = Ground Unless they have some sort of protection putting a normal TS jack into it will short the 5v straight to ground. Not particularly well thought out.

Ticket booked and will be there on Sunday.

We seem to have plenty of Jam nights around me - Aldershot, Ash, Basingstoke, Farnborough, Camberley, Guildford, etc. Almost every night of the week and that's on top of the Open Mic singer/songwriter nights. There is a house band who provide the backline, PA and drum kit, sometimes keyboards as well. All you need is your instrument or sticks. House band open up with 3 or 4 numbers. If you are new then you need to make yourself known to the leader of the house band who picks groups of musicians to play together. The group decides who is singing, quite often one of the guitarists, and agree three songs. If one or more doesn't know a specific song the chord structure will be shown/told and off you go. If you attend regularly then you get to know some of the popular songs, and no they are not all 12-bars. Depending how many bass players turn up will determine how often you get up. Sometimes bands will turn up and blast through 3 numbers just for the practice and to try and impress the Publican and try and get a gig there. Our local Jams are well supported by the local gigging community so the musicians are almost all of a very good standard so we've had some great nights. It's also a great way to network and get yourself known. I've been going to Jams on and off for about 20 years and as well as a regular punter I've done my share of house band duties and let others use my rig. If you don't mind it's a great way to hear what it sounds like from out front. Maybe I'm mad but I like being put out of my comfort zone and having to think and play on my feet. It's also very good for ear training. Quite often if I've played something that I'd not heard before so I'll go and find it and have a listen so that if it comes up again then I'm slightly better prepared. Long may they continue.

For many years now I've used EMS cases. Very light and incredibly strong, I know I've dropped them a few times. Handles on both sides. Come in 3U increments. Details at http://www.cpcases.com/product.asp?productid=11

Over 60 & Still In The Game, What's It Like For You
obbm replied to blue's topic in General Discussion
Well this has been an interesting read. Not sure that I can bring a huge amount to the varied discussion but I am 69 next month and still get out and gig occasionally when anyone asks - I have a couple of occasional dep slots - however I have drawn the line at being in a busy regular band for the time being although never say never. -
Delays in receiving items shipped from Thoman

I bought something last Sunday, 4th Jan and received order confirmation on the 5th. It was shipped on the 7th and has been sitting in UK Customs since waiting Customs clearance since the 8th. Perhaps it will pitch up sometime next week if I'm lucky. -
