1.
...I think 600 is fair ...
I'll say.
 2. It looks like it's been up someone's bum.
 3.
I was actually going to post earlier on that I'd never heard anyone say "brought" instead of "bought" (although I've seen it written many, many times)... and then just that very minute someone walked into my shop and said, "I brought this from you the other day..." Gobsmacked, I was.
You should have sent them outside and told them to come back in and say it properly.
 4.
It's a thing that lazy & ignorant people say, based on the fact the words are spelled similarly and it's way too much effort to bother differentiating them. J.
So it's not a typo, people do actually say that. I feel like I should go on a rant now, stuff containing phrases like "the systematic erosion of our educational system" but I can't be effin bovaad.
 5. Why oh why oh why oh why do people put "brought" when they mean "bought". I see it all the bleedin' time and it gets on my hairy tits. I'm not being racist or facetious with this but as a Scot I wonder if it is a thing that English people commonly say?
 6.
There's a Traben in the 'for sale' forum, currently being offered for the bottom end of your budget. I've no experience of the brand myself but they're definitely aimed at metal players. Might not be pointy enough for you though!
+1 for this. They have a very deep dark sound. Ideal for black, doom etc.. edit : found a link for you.
 7.
Great! Once I've sortedt= the new tuners for my Road Worn I'll get the bridge on order. Will get the Am ferrules now! And then, I guess, just drill the hole all the way through the body to the same diameter as the width of the ferrule.
Yep but you have to have a drill press to do it. No matter how skilled you might be the holes will look sh*t when they come through the other side if you do it freehand.
 8. The pain in the arse bit isn't so much the amount of spare you can cut off but how much usable length you get before the taper or the silks come in. It's no biggy though, just buy long strings.
 9. These'll do ya and if you can wait for US shipping these will be better.
 10. All you need are the ferrules. The holes are the same all the way through (the ferrules catch the ball end as they narrow inside) and are normally perpendicular to the body.
 11.
Ou7shined, looks like it's been sold. What a nice looking guitar as well
Yeah I know I was just pointing you in the right direction on the second hand market and letting you see what the Ray34 looks like too.
 12.
I always suggest a Jazz to first timers, great variety of tone and if you don't get on with it they are easy to move on. Look at the Squier stuff, if you can afford something better that an Affinity do, maybe a Vintage modified, Classic Vibe or a Standard. Look to go second hand you will get much more for your money.
But Jazzes don't have that pinched sound he's indicated. You want a humbucker not single coils. Good point about re-sell though. You mentioned Aria before. Perhaps one of these might be more appropriate.
 13. You have expensive taste. Bass example 1 sounds like a muffled Musicman Stingray Bass example 2 has never seen a real bass, it's a synth Bass example 3 Warwick custom shop streamer Those two basses are way above your budget. Probably the cheapest way to get the Stingray sound is to get something like this.
 14. No doubt the ebony is choking for a drink. Ernie Ball Wonder Wipes.
 15.
... oh and where's the jack socket?...
On the side like all good 3 eq's are.
 16. Saw this last night and considered posting on here. Fake fake fake. The hardware seems to be OLP, the neck sure ain't, decal is so shocking it doesn't warrant mentioning. Far from being an innocent mistake, as the "ooh I don't know much about basses" BS suggests, I think it's a proper scam because of the additional touches like the case and strap buttons. If anyone's gonna hit it with the report stick can you at least wait to near the end, I think it would be funny to see what the clowns are willing to pay for it.
 17.
Hi S2-Classic, headless through-neck 5-string, 18mm string spacing, 34" scale, tulip facing / black pin-stripe / cherry back, black hardware, Front and side red LED's pics : http://www.zikinf.com/annonces/dispannonce...?annonce=571351 2.500 EUR or trade Alembic or Warwick Infinity 5 Txs Luc
FYI - my Avast threw up a Trojan Horse warning at that link.
 18. I've never heard anything pre Mother's Milk (downloading UMPP now ) as McNach pointed out BSSM is probably my biggest influence. God knows how many copies of that album I've had since it came out. Saw them at Gig On The Green in Glasgow a few years back, they played all the usual tunes then when they came back for the encore the did Sir Psycho Sexy. I almost died. I've been told that I've got an ok voice but I'm just not that way inclined. For a start I can't sing and play bass at the same time (can play guitar and sing but my brains crashes if I try it on bass) and I'm not the type to go up and sing without an instrument to hide behind. I'm probably a bit long in the tooth to think about vocal training anyway but cheers for kind your words. I suppose the fact that I've always been in heavy bands is the main reason why I've never explored my embarrassing cherub voice.
 19. How old is it? And Munk, just NO!
 20.
Try helium balloons attached to the headstock?
That's just crazy. You need to suspend a household iron from the bridge end strap button - far more practical than having to inflate damn balloons every gig.
 21.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CslkVhOoE2U...feature=related The next time I hear a weak G or that a roasted neck is needed im just going to post this,In fact I might just post it even if it has no relevance!
Blinking flip! I wonder how long he gets between re-frets?
 22.
Its not a precision, its just a 50's Tele bass i think!
Actually it is a P, based on the Fender '53-4 Precision. I'd love to know what the "wiring upgrade" is as these have the simplest loom know to man.
 23.
Not intending to cast any doubts on his integrity, or on the quality of G&L guitars, and I've no experiance to iether agree or disagree with him but, from a purely commercial view point, what else would he say? "These G&Ls are OK, but not as good as Fender or Musicman"? - I suspect not.
Fair enough. I own a USA G&L and a EBMM. Both kick Fender® butt. How about that?
 24. gotoguitars As for G&L? Leo said it himself "G&L Guitars are the finest instruments I ever built". Nuff said.
 25. So Matt was round for the Grand Prix and a bit of a catch up. He reminded me I've not put any further updates up here so.... After much humming and hawing, we plumped for gold (I have a soft spot for gold basses - I think it will be the new Surf Green ) Barring any accidents the painting stages are finished. The learning curve with the metallic gold paint was steep. You can't just "blow in" areas as and when they need it as the blend is highly noticeable. You have to do the whole thing in one go and cross your fingers nothing goes wrong. A drip or run at this stage would be disastrous. The result is very likable. A very natural Gibson-esque gold - not at all showbizy or Fleabass flaky as some gold basses I've seen. I have started with the clear lacquer but the weather has forced me into going for an extended curing period. Which isn't a bad thing. I'm over the moon (and importantly so is the customer ) with the new crisp edges on the headstock - no more chips or scorched and bubbled edges. You can see the "orange peel" effect on the face but I've still to flatten and polish right over the neck. I'll post more pics once I have the clear coats cut and polished, then it will be back over to Matt to put it all back together.
