  1. Here's the Spoiler with the Composers, for those struggling for the last couple of faces ...
  2. Aha..! Two more (Boy George and that Somerville fellow...)
  3. Assuming that that's him in the corner (well, nearly...), only one, I'm afraid. Not his name; just the band's name (or did I dream that..?). Any better luck with this lot ..?
  4. I can't think of any valid reason for objecting to the taking of photos, especially if you're showing an interest in buying it. Such a refusal, without acceptable motivation, would make me assume the worst; that there's maybe something fishy going on, and I'd back away. Next time you're passing that way, ask the bloke; he should say 'Yes', especially if it helps identification. Just my tuppence-worth...
  5. Old posts refreshed (but there's a lot of dross in there, so not as useful as it could have been. A pity, that. ...)
  6. For the buttons, no, but for strap-lock tone, the new Basschat strap-locks cannot be beaten, and are excellent value for not much money. A brilliant touch of glorious BC colour, at just the right spot to set off any combination of strap, tone-paint or natural finish. Forget the old, worn-out clichés of beer-bottle washers and get the new Basschat strap-lock for maximum tonal quality. Don't hesitate, order 'em today (plus a few spares for those basses you're sure to acquire shortly...). Don't get caught out, get the new Basschat strap-locks fitted right away..! Here's a handy link, to save you searching ... Basschat Strap-locks ... You know it makes sense.
  7. My interest in chart music has yet to be aroused, so there's little point in me even trying to guess any of whatever is on offer here. No cigar for me, then, but as I don't smoke... ...
  8. It doesn't necessarily follow that 'new' or 'inventive' ways of playing a bass are good, although they can, all, be tried at least. It may produce some kind of music when attacked with a blow-torch, or dragged across the stage by the jack lead, but I doubt that these extremes would catch on and become mainstream. I'm not suggesting that there's no merit whatever in 'slap'n'tickle' or whatever, but I certainly don't rate novelty over standard playing styles. I saw a TV spot once, quite a while back, whereby two reggae top knobs were being 'showcased'. The drummer (maybe Sly Dunbar..? I forget...) started tapping on the bass strings with his sticks. Very novel, and both had wide smiles, but it was an awful racket, for nothing. Original (at the time...), but of no further interest. Just sayin'.
  9. On A Bicycle Built For Two - Nat King Cole
  10. 'S a shame; I like drums, I do.
  11. I'll be brief.
  12. Paul..? Did you say Paul..? That Paul..? Ooo, I must have a bid; I've got almost all of his records..!
  13. The Marriage of Figaro - Mozart (It's a newspaper thing...)
  14. It's definitely bettah. (The mix, I mean; what else..?)
  15. I've heard (of...) two of 'em, the 'Bikini' one and 'Unchained Melody'..! Half of the artists are new to me, too.
  16. Out of curiosity, I listened to the original track (yes, I dimly remember having heard it somewhere before, decades ago...), and thought absolutely nothing of the 'bass' synth sound. The lower register of a Casio or any other keys would do the job, as far as I could judge. OK, maybe not a Stylophone, but it's nowt 'special'. Still, if boats are floated with stuff like that...
  17. I think it's the copyright date, to judge from the symbol '©' beside the date... This would indicate that it was made after that date, at least, but not the precise date that it came off the production line.
  18. Good evening, BK, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  19. Another name that deserves spot-lighting, in a different vein, is Danny Thompson, on upright bass, here with another Great : John Martyn ...
  20. Not cited enough, and has a very wide range of styles, but I'd put Jack Casady high on any list of Top Bassists. Here, live, with Jefferson Airplane...
  21. Try here..? PG8X, by Martin Lüders ...
  22. Fixed. ...
  23. As should the misuse of hyphens.
  24. Pushing the boundaries, then, are we..? A bloomin' artist then, are we..? ...
