  1. Maybe tuning the kit, in preparation for shed-building..?
  2. When it comes to your turn for sound check, use, firstly, the tone you'll be using most of the evening. Tell the tech that you'll be using other tones, and ask him to check those levels too. When he's ready, give a brief run of the various Fx tones, as they'll be used in their respective numbers. A few seconds of each is all that's required, and if he's any good (and they usually are...) he'll know how to set the levels etc. If you're using a DI for the PA straight from the bass, pre-Fx, with your amp only for monitoring and stage fill, the core tone will be enough. That's a common set-up; the Fx from the stage are often quite enough for moderately-sized venues without PA support, which only gives out the core tone. It's very useful to be wireless, or have a very long lead for sound check, so that you may hear for yourself what's in the hall (albeit empty, naturally...). This will help, usually, and boosts confidence in knowing that what's out there is not simply what you hear on stage. It's especially useful when the whole band is checked at the end, so that one's place in the mix becomes evident. Others may have other views; hope this helps. Edit : It's a Good Idea to have a few 'bits and bobs' to play that match your repertoire, but will not be played as complete songs that evening, so as not to 'give away' the songs. There's usually plenty enough songs to choose from that resemble the main parts, and the evening remains unspoilt. Just a thought.
  3. You are @Leonard Smalls and I claim my £5. ...
  4. 50/50, not the measly 20/80 like last time. ...
  5. ? ? ? What's the issue..? It all reads fine for me. Here's a link to the Official User Manual; it's all there ... PODxt Live Pilot's Handbook ...
  6. That is a top-notch piece of kit, with just about every type of Fx, for, in my opinion, a very reasonable price. Hours of fun, and it's solid, so won't wear out, however 'enthusiastic' you become. It works as a USB recording interface, is mains-powered (so no batteries...); no patch leads to mess about with. A Very Good Deal, I say.
  7. I'd leave this topic where it is, as information for others asking the same questions. It's doing no harm, but could be useful.
  8. ... or choose from a wide range of ... King Richard Tools ...
  9. Have a listen to what @Leonard Smalls does with pedals (despite having an excellent bass...). If that doesn't put you off pedals, fx and trickery, I despair. ...
  10. Just as soon as the Grumpy Ones find out where that sound is coming from..! (Oh, not that kind of Bash..? OK, then ...)
  11. That'll counter-balance the other neighbours (you know: the grumpy ones...) with their 'Turn it down..!' notes.
  12. ... or just plain, ornery notes. ...
  13. I'd suggest some screwed-up newspaper, a bit of corrugated cardboard (amazon boxes are good...), dry straw, if available, and kindling (dry twigs, broken-up orange box; must be dry like the rest...). One match should do it. Do this outside, not on the living-room floor.
  14. @TUBEPATH : Type an arobase, then type (slowly...) the Member ID you want. Select once it becomes visible; this will create a Notification to the person so addressed. Like this... @bpw... ... which becomes @BPWalls. Hope this helps.

    Ayup!

Good evening, Vin, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  16. This month's Composition Challenge suddenly gained a few hours; thanks for posting. Good Stuff.
  17. S'OK to post in both, as long as the bass Marketplace subs are paid.
  18. I'm sure it won't miss many of mine. ...
  19. You're not supposed to change flat-wounds. The elves in the factories spend much time and effort fitting them, in the certain knowledge that they'll last longer than the Owner of the guitar, and, anyway, it's all about the Funk, say the Experts. To keep their tone, round-wounds get changed every evening, as every fule nose, but flat-wounds, never.
  20. Stupider and stupider... I've found the downloaded 'zip' file that is being laboriously 'unpacked' by this 'Sine' player. It's been running for nearly an hour, and has unpacked about half. I've copied the 'zip' file to another disk, and an ordinary WinRar unpacks it in less than two seconds. The daft thing is that the resulting 'Brass' file is the same size as the 'zip' file; there was never any need to pack it in the first place..! I'll see how this pans out, but I shall probably be making my thoughts known to the folks putting this out, as they are certainly not doing themselves any favours with such methods. One sometimes needs to be cruel to be kind; it's for their own good. Edit : I've sent 'em a brief account of my experience so far with their delivery system. Hope it helps, as the product deserves better. Edit : How daft can it get..? Once the unpacking finished (I was watching it 'live', the Sine Player declared that destination disk (my NAS...) was no longer available (I'd been watching it for the last couple of hours, so...), and the download 'zip' file and unpacked 'Brass' file promptly disappeared..! Gone..! Poof..! Luckily, I'd done my own unpacking to my desktop, and moving the Brass file I'd created into the NAS folder fooled Sine enough to open the library file. I'll now try it through my DAW, but what a game of soldiers..! It's been churning away to the NAS folder for several hours, only, at the end, to decide it wasn't there and scratched it all..! Flipping daft, I say.
  21. Hmm... One wonders (well, I do, at least...) how this 'synchro' meshes with music generated by software. We could maybe learn whether 'HAL' enjoyed singing 'Daisy, Daisy'. Why just music, though..? Good food, which a great chef enjoyed preparing, maybe links our neurons to his (or hers...)..? An author..? Can we link to his or her emotions when reading the book..? How does it work if the musician detests the piece he or she is performing..? Does the audience start grimacing, or does fighting in the assembly ensue..? We deserve to know...
  22. It will, indeed, help, once the current (still the same...) download has finished its 'unpacking'. I'm an avid User and Collector of instruments of the sort, and the quality seems to be well above the 'free' price point, so I'll continue until I get the set, and be thankful. It does, however, make me hesitant before committing to any of their more voluminous offers (I was thinking of the operatic voices, but will I live long enough to even test 'em..?). It seems churlish to grumble, so I shan't; thanks for sharing the link.
  23. ... and I tried Nail's solution. It gave me the opportunity to meet up with, and have an interesting conversation with, the bloke in the flat below.
  24. Update : The Downloader started 'unpacking' (where on my system..? I've no idea...), then flipped out and disappeared. No trace of a download that I can find; I've started it again before doing my shopping. It's been running for an hour, and is now swinging from 7 to 3 minutes remaining. I'll advise once it's on my system, and I can find. One 'mic' for one of the instruments. Patience is required...
  25. Be prepared for a very, very long wait, as the download 'speed' is execrable. For the four 'Layer' sections available, there are four or five 'mic' versions to choose from. Initially attracted by this plethora, I ticked all the boxes. Fifteen minutes later I un-ticked 'em and started again. Currently, as I type, for the 'Close' mic for Brass, it says I've eighteen minutes yet before it's done. I've had time to make tea and prepare for shopping later already, so roughly half an hour. For one 'mic', for Brass. Three others to do, but I'll let it run whilst I'm out. Good quality, from what I've heard, and free, of course, but goodness gracious, it's slow. Just sayin'. Did I type 'eighteen minutes'..? Maybe; it's hopping about between eighteen minutes and over an hour. It's slow...
