1.
Killing Vegas @ Horsham Battle Of The Bands 2012 Final, the song is called "Down"
Absolute quality! Alter who??? Killswitch what?? :-))
2.
It sounds a lot like Radiohead, particularly the more recent In Rainbows tracks. It's still definitely Muse though. But nice playing, you even look a bit like Chris Wolstenholme (it's the low-slung bass I think!).
Thanks. Yeah the low slung bass is part of his look..I used to play with my bass a lot higher but I like the fact that it has straightened my right arm which in turn has helped me keep a straighter wrist which has helped my right hand technique. Something else good to come out of being in a tribute act ;-)..
3. just a quick video of my bass cover of Animals by Muse from the new album..Yes it sounds like Radio head..no its not the most complicated line in the world....but I love this song..probably because I loved Ok computer as well! Hope you like the cover...oh and the audio came out really well as well.
4. Do you know what makes me laugh about this situation...I fire open my app on my android phone and the video is blocked because of the " not allowing content on mobile devices blah blah." So I go to the desktop version on my phone's browser (which is still mobile) and the video plays no problem what so ever....I am fairly sure that my Galaxy Note is mobile, some would say only just , but none the less a mobile device....which is what they are trying to stop...So whats the ******* point! Lol ...
5.
Brilliant bits of kit, got one on my Spector and shall be ordering one for my Warwick shortly. As someone has already mentioned, there's a guy in the states who sells them on eBay which works out cheaper. I bought the one on my Spector while I was on holiday over there for about $45.
Yup that was me....this is the one I bought...although I should have bought an 8 but it still fitted with a tweak and works beautifully...As I said this guy delivered in three days to the UK...amazing. http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_1848wt_1114 There is another seller from the States as well so worth a search on Ebay.
6. HI all As most of you guys on here are sensible, intelligent people of the world I thought I would put this to you...as most of the searching I have done has turned up no sensible answers. I upload videos to Youtube of our band playing for promotion...a few other videos of bass covers...you know the usual thing. I have problem with the "Matching content" on most of our videos , as we are a Muse tribute I take it as a compliment that Youtube can work out that it is Muse! but I have had absolutely no problems with people being able to watch them on their mobiles....which is now a huge part of youtube and promo. Then yesterday I uploaded a bass cover of Liquid State and it will not let me enable mobile watching. If I go to edit-advanced settings the syndication section is greyed out and it says "No, this video should not be available on mobile phones and TV" I never enabled that and if I go to a mobile to watch it it says "Owner has not allowed this video to be used on a mobile.." or something similar... Anyone got the first idea how I can overturn this so all those interested in seeing me hit that bum note at 46 seconds can laugh with all their mates while watching on their Iphones..lol Cheers all
7. Just fitted my first one to my jazz...constantly switching between E and D tuning....frankly IMO it should be made law that these things are fitted as standard on all basses.. . I can't believe how I ever got by without one. If your interested there is a dealer in the States selling them at the moment for about £43 delivered on Ebay..his postage was about £6.50...I ordered one Tuesday and it arrived on Friday morning it was on the bass Saturday and gigged that night....I could not believe how fast it came..top stuff.
8. Plug in baby live at The vic...love the crowd singing..absolutely brilliant night ...cheers to all who came.. Best with headphones/good speakers etc..
9.
I've had that before. Does my bloody head in!! If you like a band - show them! You are left feeling very confused...
We had a gig like that many moons ago. Big 8 piece soul band. Massive Christmas corporate do...approx 1200 people. We arrive to be shown a large raised stage..brilliant with big lighting rig etc..Dj on the left hand side with a huge rig. Sound checked and sounding really good. Going to be good this we thought. So we are on for 2 sets..Dj starts..he calls us on about 9.30-10.30 for the first set...We get up on stage..there must have been 500 people on the dance floor...within 2 numbers we had cleared it...lol We were playing out of our skins...did an hour..by the time we had finished we had about 50-100 on the floor. So we wrapped up the first set ..did the usual...see you in a bit ..going to take a short break....As I wandered off stage the DJ put on Saturday night by Wigfield...I kid you not...600 people on the dance floor..bang. We were mortified....was it us..was it the sound... So we hatched a plan to catch the dancers on the floor for the second set..assuming they would stay on...super slick hand over with the Dj and we were off...and...yes you guessed it... so were the punters. Took them 5-6 songs to clear off ...We stayed totally professional..banged out our numbers got some decent applause at the end....but Dj fired into some tunes and within a song the dance floor was packed with almost 1000 revellers.... I am not sure as a band we had ever played as well or as tight as that night....then the darndest thing.....As we were packing away we were inundated with compliments and hand shakes..pats n the back...business cards were passed...gigs secured. The organiser even gave us some extra dosh as a Christmas bonus..couldn't thank us enough. "Why was no one up dancing" asked out totally bemused singer...oh "everyone was watching" came the reply.."They all absolutely loved it"...makes you wonder eh??
10. Fantastic gig with Hypermused at the Vic,Swindon...it was packed and the audience singing in plug in baby made the hairs on my neck stand on end. Gig was so good I had a few beers after..abandoned the van in Swindon and got a lift home. Could I get a lift back in this morning..er no....so on the bike and 14 miles of pedalling in the pissing rain..soaked and freezing brought me back down to earth with a massive thump. Still....l recorded the second half of the gig on MD so had a listen in a steaming hot bath when I got home ...sounded pretty good. Great weekend. Thanks to all that turned up.
11. thought I would give it a "Nearly the weekend" Bump...want as many there as possible...obviously...

13. oooooh I hate you guys!. ...Bloody love the Moog pedals and have been looking for an excuse to start buying some. Funnily enough I was next to their main office in Tewkesbury the other day and the guy I was with couldn't believe I didn't stop in for a look....not enough money in the bank to be tempted by all that loveliness I told him!.Just as well as it turns out that despite very similar logos it appears they are noting to do with each other...dodged a bullet there then! So....Best I get saving. As a matter of interest which expression pedal works well with it? Thanks
14. Hi I am trying to emulate the filter factory lfo sweep in Uprising and City of delusion. I know I can get a FF for about £150-200 but in oder to control the sweep I would need a Voltage control expression pedal which I believe aren't cheap. At the moment I emulate the sound using a bi amp set up with the clean channel running quite a subby bass sound and the other channel running the effects needed to reproduce the fuzz..the effected channel runs through a line 6 pod xt pro and when I get to the relevant parts of the songs I use the volume pedal to mute the effected channel and just leave the clean and then feed the effected channel back in. It sounds ok live but it isn't right and it really bugs me.... I wondered if any of you guys knows of a pedal that I could use in line to either activate a sweep..from what I can tell the sweep would need to be about 15 seconds long from only the sub frequencies to the full sound, or that can be used with an expression pedal that doesn't cost the earth....Is this something that the Xerograph might be able to do? Obviously money is a factor as well but I'll start out with whether it is possible and what you guys think the best way of achieving it would be? In an ideal world I would love a pedal with dual input and outputs where both channels are effected equally or i could choose which channel was effected....with an on/off switch and a pot that I could set to the desired length of time..stand on it to activate it and once the sweep was finished I could turn it off to return to bypass...Doubt such a thing exists but if you know anyone who might be able to make one for me I am all ears. Try not to get too tecky with me....I am a simple boy at heart! But I would love your suggestions on a work around for this if you can think of one... Cheers all
15.
Thanks for the reply, thought it might have been from Gladiator. Made me smile more than Gladiator did though
Excellent...lol
16.
Nice work. Out of interest, what's the music you used for this?
it is some generic music in i movie.....all very tongue in cheek but it was fun to put together!
17. Quick teaser I put together the other day...;-)
18. We are back local on the 22nd September at The Vic, Swindon doing a full show..so over 90 mins of Muse stuff. Always a great gig this..be great to see some of you guys there if you are around. Check out our very Tongue in cheek EPIC teaser..lol...Tickets are £6.00.
19. This guy has got this beautiful looking six string fretless on a no reserve auction..If it looks like it plays it would be some bass....check it out... http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_8437wt_1348 paid £4650 in '88 Wish I had the money!
20. Managed to get some decent'ish audio for this video of Feeling Good from Mathew street, Liverpool. Love Paul's face at the end when he realises what we are actually doing and the scale of the thing..
21. Just posted 7 live tracks from our latest Muse tribute gig. Sadly the MD decided to do a touch of skipping..but considering it is recorded with one of those little Sony stereo mics and had very little fettling the results are really pretty good. http://www.soundcloud.com/hypermused/sets/hypermused-live-at-the-200
22. Yup try and take a positive spin on all the stuff you see and learn and adapt...you dont have to be Flea to be entertaining.. I used to be in awe of a guitarist friend of mine who used to stand stock still the whole gig but in a very cool and confident way that meant you couldn't take your eyes off him...he had the x factor and would get all the attention...well i say friend..git....lol.. With the Muse stuff I struggle to be a real showman at our gigs because most of the time i have so much going on....jumping on pedals(lots of pedals).vocal pedal..floor patches..cueing up tracks..making sure rack patches are right..starting and stopping tracks in the right place. Making sure the other two are ready for intro clicks..backing vocals and then remembering to de tune..etc...oh and play the bass...but then apart from some serious head banging Chris Wolstenholme is fairly sedate on stage...thank god! I always used to worry that i was being scrutinised live and it used to make me sit behind the guitarists..One thing that changed my outlook to playing live...a friend once told me that you have to remember that more often than not the crowd are there to see you play and enjoy themselves no matter what. In every audience there will undoubtedly be musicians...in my experience the ones who criticise are usually not as good as you or too scared to leave the bedroom and the ones that are better than you will invariably be supportive. Keep playing live..more you do it the more fun you will have..the easier it becomes..the less you will worry about Youtube
23.
OMG I have just discovered that someone has put our gig of 14 Aug on to Youtube, Nothing would induce me to post the link. However I have learned two thing from this. 1) I was too quiet. My own fault for wimping out and turning the volume down because I was too scared I might be heard! and 2) I was too static. In my head I thought I was moving about a bit and looking quite interesting. But alas I was just standing there looking like a speccy twit. So at I will try to learn from this and improve for next time. Which is next week (gulp!)
My Heart sinks sometimes when this happens to us! There are some simply god awful videos of us playing live ( mainly down to bad soundmen/pa), and me in particular...some we can't do anything about. I hate hearing and seeing myself but what to do...simple...what I do... get a bottle of red wine..build up some courage and take a really good look at myself on youtube. Realise what you are doing wrong...too nervous? not paying attention..not looking at the crowd..Hiding away...Confidence comes with every gig and the support of friends and guys on forums like this. Just remember you play the bass..therefore in our eyes your already a rock god... We recently hit the pinnacle of our playing career as a tribute band by playing to 10,000 at Mathew street...if I hadn't looked at all the stuff on youtube over the years, both ok and bad, and realised where we could have improved, I would have sh*t myself! (sorry for the language) but the crowd were immense and for one of the first times ever I engaged with members of the audience, stood loud and proud and soaked up every minute. It all comes with experience. There are some vids of us on youtube....and you do get some strange things happening with sound..There is a camera video of one song from that gig and my backing vocals sound really pitchy and almost in the wrong key...really properly bad tragic X factor stuff.....I spoke to our singer about it..they were fine on stage and I have heard other videos of that gig and they are not perfect but they are not that bad...camera phone video never lies but sometimes i reckon tells porkies!! so don't fret too much about them. Your audience and ears will tell you. Also don't worry about the sound balance...as has been said...the bass rarely gets properly picked up on anything but top end video gear and microphones...we videoed ourselves at Derby with decent external condenser mics and a hd camera and the bass still sounds thin...we did record ourselves on Minididsk with one of those little Sony stereo mics....finally got a decent-ish representation of the bass..although Channel a (the effects channel on my bass rig) still is a bit quiet. You can hear that here if you want to take a listen.. http://soundcloud.com/hypermused/sets/hypermused-live-at-the-200/ Hope that helps without sounding like patronising twaddle....lol
