2. oooooh I hate you guys!. ...Bloody love the Moog pedals and have been looking for an excuse to start buying some. Funnily enough I was next to their main office in Tewkesbury the other day and the guy I was with couldn't believe I didn't stop in for a look....not enough money in the bank to be tempted by all that loveliness I told him!.Just as well as it turns out that despite very similar logos it appears they are noting to do with each other...dodged a bullet there then! So....Best I get saving. As a matter of interest which expression pedal works well with it? Thanks
3. Hi I am trying to emulate the filter factory lfo sweep in Uprising and City of delusion. I know I can get a FF for about £150-200 but in oder to control the sweep I would need a Voltage control expression pedal which I believe aren't cheap. At the moment I emulate the sound using a bi amp set up with the clean channel running quite a subby bass sound and the other channel running the effects needed to reproduce the fuzz..the effected channel runs through a line 6 pod xt pro and when I get to the relevant parts of the songs I use the volume pedal to mute the effected channel and just leave the clean and then feed the effected channel back in. It sounds ok live but it isn't right and it really bugs me.... I wondered if any of you guys knows of a pedal that I could use in line to either activate a sweep..from what I can tell the sweep would need to be about 15 seconds long from only the sub frequencies to the full sound, or that can be used with an expression pedal that doesn't cost the earth....Is this something that the Xerograph might be able to do? Obviously money is a factor as well but I'll start out with whether it is possible and what you guys think the best way of achieving it would be? In an ideal world I would love a pedal with dual input and outputs where both channels are effected equally or i could choose which channel was effected....with an on/off switch and a pot that I could set to the desired length of time..stand on it to activate it and once the sweep was finished I could turn it off to return to bypass...Doubt such a thing exists but if you know anyone who might be able to make one for me I am all ears. Try not to get too tecky with me....I am a simple boy at heart! But I would love your suggestions on a work around for this if you can think of one... Cheers all
4.
Thanks for the reply, thought it might have been from Gladiator. Made me smile more than Gladiator did though
Excellent...lol
5.
Nice work. Out of interest, what's the music you used for this?
it is some generic music in i movie.....all very tongue in cheek but it was fun to put together!
6. Quick teaser I put together the other day...;-)
7. We are back local on the 22nd September at The Vic, Swindon doing a full show..so over 90 mins of Muse stuff. Always a great gig this..be great to see some of you guys there if you are around. Check out our very Tongue in cheek EPIC teaser..lol...Tickets are £6.00.
8. This guy has got this beautiful looking six string fretless on a no reserve auction..If it looks like it plays it would be some bass....check it out... http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_8437wt_1348 paid £4650 in '88 Wish I had the money!
9. Managed to get some decent'ish audio for this video of Feeling Good from Mathew street, Liverpool. Love Paul's face at the end when he realises what we are actually doing and the scale of the thing..
10. Still looking to sell this great watch...make me an offer.
11. Just posted 7 live tracks from our latest Muse tribute gig. Sadly the MD decided to do a touch of skipping..but considering it is recorded with one of those little Sony stereo mics and had very little fettling the results are really pretty good. http://www.soundcloud.com/hypermused/sets/hypermused-live-at-the-200
12. Yup try and take a positive spin on all the stuff you see and learn and adapt...you dont have to be Flea to be entertaining.. I used to be in awe of a guitarist friend of mine who used to stand stock still the whole gig but in a very cool and confident way that meant you couldn't take your eyes off him...he had the x factor and would get all the attention...well i say friend..git....lol.. With the Muse stuff I struggle to be a real showman at our gigs because most of the time i have so much going on....jumping on pedals(lots of pedals).vocal pedal..floor patches..cueing up tracks..making sure rack patches are right..starting and stopping tracks in the right place. Making sure the other two are ready for intro clicks..backing vocals and then remembering to de tune..etc...oh and play the bass...but then apart from some serious head banging Chris Wolstenholme is fairly sedate on stage...thank god! I always used to worry that i was being scrutinised live and it used to make me sit behind the guitarists..One thing that changed my outlook to playing live...a friend once told me that you have to remember that more often than not the crowd are there to see you play and enjoy themselves no matter what. In every audience there will undoubtedly be musicians...in my experience the ones who criticise are usually not as good as you or too scared to leave the bedroom and the ones that are better than you will invariably be supportive. Keep playing live..more you do it the more fun you will have..the easier it becomes..the less you will worry about Youtube
13.
OMG I have just discovered that someone has put our gig of 14 Aug on to Youtube, Nothing would induce me to post the link. However I have learned two thing from this. 1) I was too quiet. My own fault for wimping out and turning the volume down because I was too scared I might be heard! and 2) I was too static. In my head I thought I was moving about a bit and looking quite interesting. But alas I was just standing there looking like a speccy twit. So at I will try to learn from this and improve for next time. Which is next week (gulp!)
My Heart sinks sometimes when this happens to us! There are some simply god awful videos of us playing live ( mainly down to bad soundmen/pa), and me in particular...some we can't do anything about. I hate hearing and seeing myself but what to do...simple...what I do... get a bottle of red wine..build up some courage and take a really good look at myself on youtube. Realise what you are doing wrong...too nervous? not paying attention..not looking at the crowd..Hiding away...Confidence comes with every gig and the support of friends and guys on forums like this. Just remember you play the bass..therefore in our eyes your already a rock god... We recently hit the pinnacle of our playing career as a tribute band by playing to 10,000 at Mathew street...if I hadn't looked at all the stuff on youtube over the years, both ok and bad, and realised where we could have improved, I would have sh*t myself! (sorry for the language) but the crowd were immense and for one of the first times ever I engaged with members of the audience, stood loud and proud and soaked up every minute. It all comes with experience. There are some vids of us on youtube....and you do get some strange things happening with sound..There is a camera video of one song from that gig and my backing vocals sound really pitchy and almost in the wrong key...really properly bad tragic X factor stuff.....I spoke to our singer about it..they were fine on stage and I have heard other videos of that gig and they are not perfect but they are not that bad...camera phone video never lies but sometimes i reckon tells porkies!! so don't fret too much about them. Your audience and ears will tell you. Also don't worry about the sound balance...as has been said...the bass rarely gets properly picked up on anything but top end video gear and microphones...we videoed ourselves at Derby with decent external condenser mics and a hd camera and the bass still sounds thin...we did record ourselves on Minididsk with one of those little Sony stereo mics....finally got a decent-ish representation of the bass..although Channel a (the effects channel on my bass rig) still is a bit quiet. You can hear that here if you want to take a listen.. http://soundcloud.com/hypermused/sets/hypermused-live-at-the-200/ Hope that helps without sounding like patronising twaddle....lol
14.
It's 'famous' and they serve 'ale' and it's a bit like a big 'house'
Lmfao.............seriously funny! Thanks.
15.
Terrifying! Arrived to be confronted by a grotty venue empty but for two full on NF neo nazis, wearing neo nazi badges, spiderwebs tattoo'd on their heads, bomber jackets and cherry red boots the works. No more than twenty people all night, looked like the set of shameless, don't think they appreciated our rocked up covers of pop classics much. Swindon just doesn't get what we do at all!! Fine everywhere else, but Swindon just seemed befuddled by the whole 'rocked up pop' thing.
Which venue in Swindon...being localish I always like a review!!
16. We Played the 200 club in Newport on Friday...this has re opened relatively recently from what I can gather so is still trying to get established. We had a small but appreciative crowd (80 or so by the end of the night) who went for it more and more as the night went on. It was mainly made up of Musos/bands and promoters as Merthyr rock was on and they had all piled back. So in the end not a big earner but a great night...Can highly recommend this venue..the sound man, Dan, is one of the best we have come across..I mini-disked the first half of the set and out of the player the mix was nearly spot on..not many Sound guys get the Muse thing and always over egg the guitar etc.. Ash the owner is a great guy... If your in the area I suggest you check it out...worth it.
17. We Played The Derby Square Stage at Liverpool's Mathew Street festival on Sunday. Still can't quite believe it...10,000 in front of us...Stunning weather and the crowd rocked and sang along with gusto to every song. It was simply amazing and I still don't quite believe it happened. I don't think I will ever be in that position again but would love to thank every one in Liverpool for their warm welcome and the total friendliness shown by everyone we met...Can we come back next year please..? Oh the photo only shows less than a third of the width of the crowd and they go all the way back to the town hall in the distance...it was epic.
18. Happy to take offers..I am not easily insulted and can only say Yes or no. I need to move some stuff on and as I would love it if someone used this on a daily basis.
19. This is Uber cool. I believe these were only ever given out to the best Boss reps as a launch item for the Boss Syb 3 bass pedal.Never available to the public... I came across it quite a few years back and wore it for many years. But I am not a watch guy..or a ring guy.( my wife is still pissed I don't wear my wedding ring) .. and it used to go on and off and on and off etc so it ended up back in its presentation case. The marks on the cardboard outer are from nail scratches etc..the tin box is showing signs of wear and age but the watch is in A1 condition and will be supplied with a brand new battery. No you can't plug you bass into it..I wish..but as a talking point and as a collectors item you will rarely see anything as cool or rare. I hate selling stuff like this but needs must....I am pretty sure I will never see another one..I am looking for £150 plus p and p to the UK but am open to offers. I will happily keep this and pass it on to my daughter if the offers are too low as it is a really cool and very rare item. If you want to see it then drop me a line. Cheers all...grab yourself a real talking point. 20.
That's a real shame, I've had good comms with them in the past, emails aren't in your spam folder? Hope you get sorted soon and get your bass finished. Cheers
Sadly not....did take a look. Didn't get a chance to speak to them today so will try tomorrow. Still hopeful of a positive outcome. Cheers
21. Almost finished now..Fender sorted me a replacement decal....problem is it seems to be solid black..I can't tell if the actual Fender portion has silver or gold detailing as the front section is behind the facing paper which is really hard to see through. It has the original serial number and made in Mexico on it. I will try and take a photo to see if you guys can work out what it would look like. It looks to me ........well......crap.... for want of a better word. It seems to be a copy of a Squier series jazz bass logo which mine certainly isn't..It is certainly nothing like the original decal I photographed. So I think buying the one I want off the net will be the answer and keep this decal in the case as, supposedly, it belongs with the bass. Oh yepmop....tried the guys you suggested..phoned them 3 times...sent an email that was ignored for about a week..then got a "did you get our email" email...replied a further two times and nothing. I am going to try them again tomorrow on the phone and then move on.
22.
OH GOD HOW DID THAT SYNTH GET THERE I AM NOT GOOD WITH COMPUTER
I came across this while looking for sounds on a Digitech BSW and your great synth version prompted me to put this up. Not me....just like that you can get a half decent sound out of a £50 pedal! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92IYEl2H9IE
23. Seen this before. With the knobs dialled you have nowhere to go, but knowing how rare the originals are the copy must be good value for money. However the animato with a clean blend and an active bass sounds absolutely superb live....Especially through 2 Marshall 7400s!
24.
2 Russian Muffs and an Animato - oh my!
A muff in each channel....!! oo er! Muse tribute..what can you do!
There's a video on youtube from a talkbass dude. Plays Chris W's full rig pretty much. I've borrowed it from my old guitarist - he paid £20.
Shame you are so far away...would love to hear the clone against my real animato think it would be really interesting, oh and £20 sounds pretty good!...It is absolutely fundamental to Mr W's sound .The guy on youtube is called Fran..he loves everything CW/Muse he is prominent on the talkbass forum. Gets a lot of sounds right and wrong IMO. He's about the best out there with Chris' tones though. He puts too much emphasis on the DI.. though most of what he says is good. He gets a fair bit of stick though which is why I have never done any Muse style tones on youtube!! Even though on some stuff I know he is right people still question him...lol "opinions.....apparently they are like "ahem"..every ones got one!"
25. No its for backing vocals...but Probably going to let our front man use it as he needs it more than me. MInd you now you have asked I might have to see what it sounds like with bass...!
