1. Thanks Indeed it is the one with heat sink..proper Trace..proper sound and all round a brilliant amp. I am only selling as, if you have come across me on the forum, I play in Hypermused, "The UK's leading Tribute band", and have just picked up a full Marshall DBS system ( the same kit that Chris Wolstenholme uses and quite rare these days) and I also have an Ashdown ABM EVO rig as well. I actually think that it is a waste when an amp is not being used and i really hope someone grabs it and uses it properly..and gets loads of pleasure from it.. Thanks for the bump....
 2. This is a sad day for me as I have owned this from new. It has been gigged with the likes of Steve Winwood and all my bands from Metal through blues to funk, it has recorded at Abbey road and many other studios and it was the first amp that I ever bought that finally made my bass sound like all the pros' basses. But after 20 years of service, 15 as my main amp and then the rest as a back up practise amp, it is time to find a new home. The amp is a Trace Elliot Series 6 AH200 with GP12 preamp. It has pre and post eq DI. It has Pre shape and graphic switches. Active and passive inputs and a switchable noise gate that really works. The amp is in good overall cosmetic condition..there are marks to the covering ( see pic ), but all the sliders are good as are the knobs. No hissing, cracking all functions work as they should. It really is a sound amp. PLEASE NOTE...This amp has been serviced regardless of cost..and I mean that. It has just had a full overhaul at Inner ear in Oxford (£85.00) so it is ready to go. The only thing that is really wrong with it is at some time the covers to the main retaining screws on the top of the sleeve have disappeared..but they are only black plastic push in covers and If I can find some I will include them. I have quite a few hi res photos so I can email them to you if you PM me with your address. I am looking for around £250.00 and I can deliver to a 25 mile radius of Faringdon, Oxfordshire. The price is a bit negotiable but I am not desperate to sell and so offers would have to be close. I can take Paypal or cash..the latter preferred of course. Any trial welcome if you can get to me or I rehearse at Rotator Studios Oxford on a Wednesday night if you are around. Thanks
 3. Your loud problem is interesting. As I said I have an AH200..slightly different but 200w RMS at 4 ohms. I bought it new in 1990..it came matched with an 8ohm 1510x cab..(still brilliant after all these years..) mine always promised much volume and never really delivered until abot 10 years ago..then I bought an Ashdown 4x10 ABM cab and paired it up with the Trace cab so the amp was actually being driven at 4ohms and oh my god what a difference..as they say double your cabs twice the volume..if you are only using one 8ohm rated cab you will never get the best out of it...Check the Ohms rating as you can get 4 OHM rated cabs as well..it is very important. If you were using a combo before you can guaruntee the speaker and amp were designed to work together at the correct OHMS and wattage..hence nicely balanced and powerful. A quick example..we supported Dogs D'Armour at a gig and I turned up, amp head and the 2 cabs...loud and large..their bass player turned up with some Trace 500w combo with a 15" speaker and nearly blew me off the stage...very interesting stuff.. Hope that helps ...oh and if anyone is interested I am about to put the Trace up for sale....see classifieds.
 4. I'll try the effects return trick..hadn't thought of that. Yes it does have valve preamp and so that could be a problem.I will try and post the sound next week as I am away this weekend. The distortion is soft and fluffy sound almost like a bass version of a Kazoo !! it is not harsh or gritty in any way..dont know if that helps! Thanks
 5. Running Ashdown ABM 300 EVO2 and while looking for a clean tone I am getting distortion on Ab ( On E string) ..not on G or A or even pounding out E's. tried the cab with other heads and no problem there..any idea what would cause distotion on such a specific frequency? Thanks
 6. 9 out of 10 sounds a bit high on the input. Not sure I have ever got that far up, unless you have a really low output bass. What are you using?
 7. But I don't have a manual, so a few questions:

There are 2 inputs - are they different, for active & passive instruments, or both the same? They seem the same. No..A passive bass has a much lower input signal than and active and the inputs compensate for this. I have an AH200 and you do notice a difference and have to alter the input gain.
My bass is passive. I have to turn up the input gain pretty high to get the "OK" light to light. Is this normal?. You should plug your bass in, turn the output volume to zero and keep adding input untill you mainly get the green arrow with the very occasional foray to the red... I have a rickenbacker and run the input between 2 o clock and 3 o'clock to get the right input volume
When should I use the high fan speed setting and when is it OK to use the low? Can't answer that..the AH200 doesnt have a fan! Sorry. I would imagine that you would use the high speed when gigging and the low speed when recording..less hum..but I am just taking an educated guess
Is there a way to set the threshold for the noise gate? Not on mine..it's on or off. But it does work very well.
Does anyone know where I can get a manual? I've googled and hunted to no avail. I did find a full manual for the AH 200 on line but it is on an old PC and not sure I can access it..I will try for you, I think the amps are very similar.
8. Thats smart..I like that. Can you remember how much it cost..just to give me a rough idea. Thanks.
 9. Hi I have an Ashdown ABM 300 Evo2 in a standard sleeve and I would like to use it in a rack mount system, as I run another head at the same time. I am also thinking about getting a rackmount effects unit as well and want them to house them all in one unit..anyone know if there is anything on the market that can adapt my amp for rack mount? Thanks

 14. Need an out board expression pedal that is compatable with Bass pod xt live..Nearly bought the line 6 one and then read the reviews which basically stated it was a shockingly overpriced piece of plastic junk...and that was pretty much a quote from one guy. I emailed a guy on Ebay who was selling one almost new and asked him what he thought and he actually agreed and told me if I was gigging to buy soimething more sturdy..LOL...so out to you guys.. which pedals are compatable? I am gigging regularly so it needs to be solid.. Cheers

 16. Seems to be a bit of a lottery, I have tracked about 25 of these through Ebay and on the net.. the most I saw was in the States at £750 ish, which was for a mint on with mint box and manual, looked like it had just come from the factory, so probably another one that will sit in a cupboard and never get used! the same guy then put up another one with a reserve of £625 but it didn't make £350.00...I have been after one for a while but won't pay more than £250 for a used one..I need one to gig with so it has to be relaiable and having spoken to Akai Pro about mending them if they go wrong, it would appear that it is not always that simple and some just can't be fixed. I think the last one made over £500 but I think he was really lucky to get that sort of money for it in the condition it was in. Let's be honest if you have a good one in reasonable condition expect to get between £250-£400 depending on who wants to fight it out. If you bought it new it would have cost you $150.00 so your making good profit. If you are happy with £400 for it stick it on Ebay with that as a reserve and see how it goes....you never know ...All the best with it.
