  1. I'm always looking at alternatives so while browsing I found details of ETS headless bridges - Made in Germany, they're used by quite a lot of high end builders and they make some nice looking parts. Price for the headless bridge is significantly less than similar bridges (ABM) - around £160. I went to the website but there's no way of contacting them. Apparently it's one fella working on his own and there is a 6 month turnaround. I did find one of the company's customers who can place an order and I'm waiting for them to come back to me with a quote. I'll keep everyone apprised on developments. https://www.ets-hardware.com/index.php/en/produkte-2

  11. Cut the wings off and glue on new sides...new hardware and pups. Good practice for someone wanting to test their luthier skills. You'll never get your money back on it though.

  16. Welcome?? He's been a member since 2009. Surely he should have accumulated more gear than he says in that time!! Come on lad, your letting the side down, where's the GAS? We want to see you buy at least another two basses by the end of the month!! And we won't have any of that "I don't need another bass" - it's about "want" not "need" 😆😆
  17. I (well not me exactly) have changed the preamp in my Spector 6er to an Aguilar OBP2 TK. However my electronics tech, who is usually really sharp, is having issues fitting the new pre. Initially he was going to order 2 extra pots (it only comes with 2) till I spoke to Mark at BD where I bought it, and he advised that the two existing volume pots are used with the ODP - no replacements required. Tech has encountered another problem - all Japanese to me - when I spoke to Mark he said it was a straight forward swap which, once the original Tonepump has been removed, is a 10 minute job. Tech disagrees. Has anybody actually done the swap themselves and would be able to have a chat with my Tech to resolve the issues. Mark and Marcus from BD are currently in Spain and not contactable.

  19. I really like the Yamaha NE1 - probably a Yamaha thing - I'd try one if you can find one. https://reverb.com/uk/p/yamaha-ne-1-nathan-east-signature-parametric-equalizer?hfid=64028880&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=18354914807&utm_content=campaignid=18354914807_adgroupid=_productpartitionid==merchantid=711034753_productid=64028880_keyword=_device=c_adposition=_matchtype=_creative=&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_O2lBhCFARIsAB0E8B_U_nenDtEfxNTxuPUg_QnReCNDRI7M0WHC_VEQ9H3rINB45HUXa_waArp6EALw_wcB

  25. I do this cautiously knowing that I put myself at risk any time I walk down a dark alley. Those of us who attend any of the local Bass Bashes will probably have seen this, some people may even have played it. Many of us may have spoken to its creator, Jezza or @Jabba_the_gut about parting with one of his creations but he being the perfectionist that he is it seemed virtually impossible to acquire one. I was lucky enough to be in the right place when @Owen decided to move this on. After all, it wouldn't be right to have two, would it. Parcelforce did their best to delay delivery but I was able to collect from my local depot on Thursday evening. Home, I managed to break the A string tuning it up, great start - haven't done this in years. Finally managed to plug it in and play. Wow...for a 27" bass it really does sound amazing. Lots of usable tones, great build quality (as you'd expect from Jezza) , lovely, lovely smooth neck. Played only on the knee so far so can't comment on balance - can't believe it will suffer from neck dive though. Initially I was frustrated by the lack of neck markings till I realised that, with a flick of the switch, the Lumanix LEDs come to life providing the markers. The seller, @Owensent the bass strung with custom roundwounds and a set of tapewounds in the gigbag which will eventually find their way back on. I didn't realise how used you get to the scale when you play standard length bass. This, being 27", contrived to outsmart me so a few hours of practice on the micro bass required before I can feel confident and adept with it . Needless to say I look forward to those hours. Thanks to Jezza for creating the bass, thanks to @Owen for his moment of madness when he agreed to sell. Previous thread:
