I bought several nice basses this year - all very good but none stand out head and shoulders above the rest, such was the quality of the purchases. I did manage to acquire an Ashdown EVOII 300w head and a couple of cabs at a very reasonable price earlier this year. "Worst" purchase was a Tanglewood Acoustic bass - nothing wrong with the bass per se but who actually uses an acoustic?

I don't think that you're alone in this. I spend more time looking for/ at other basses than I do playing those I already own.

I don't know why the Overlord stuff gets such a bad rap - it's a Steinberger copy, same as on the Hohners and Steinbergers during the 80s, etc - I'm not sure what the criticisms are but mine works OK.

Don't forget your seminars or guest speakers. How about a gear test? Maple v Rosewood fretboard is always a good one - can people tell the difference? Cheap v expensive is also an interesting option. I have contacts at a couple of distributors who may be able to help with raffle prizes. Let me know when you have a date confirmed.

Agree. I know a few former bassists who still have active accounts but have given up playing and sold their gear. Unlikely they'll be back. I'm fairly sure that several members who passed away in the last few years must also still have active accounts. People with duplicate accounts after forgetting their details? I know of a few of them. What about would be hackers? What happens to their accounts? I know that the site owners would like to have others think that there are 50,000 members but I think that (well as long as I've been a member) it's always had a hard-core membership of around 3-400.

Heard only good things about these. I've been looking for the single cut version to come up for sale - preferably with a broken headstock so that I could dehead (behead?) it and make it headless. One of these or an Ibanez SRSC805... If anyone breaks theirs, please let me know.
