If I chop my ding-dong off, does that make me a girl?
Well, you wouldn't quite be a girl, but you would be f**ked like you've never been before. Thanks for the messages folks - the little more info I've been able to extract is that the gig is for a well known band in Australia who are keeping their new bassist situation a little hush-hush, which is why I haven't even been told who the band is. I'm guessing they want to have someone lined up before they make any announcements. Just to clarify - the band isn't my mate Ciaran, who goes under the name Joe Echo, it's for a different band that he's been co-writing with. Ciaran's been gigging there a lot recently, having signed a record deal there. But I'm assuming that the band in question isn't a million miles away from Joe Echo's music. I think that's about as much info as I'm likely to get - it seems to be a case of 'pass your number along and they'll get in touch'.

Hey Folks - I got this email yesterday from an old friend/bandmate of mine: Hey Boss. hope you and the gang are doing well do you know of any great female bassists? a friend of mine in OZ is after a girl bassist for an OZ tour... she can be from anywhere in the world... they will pay for her flight down and fee etc. Cheers C That's literally all I know about it. I've emailed him back to ask who it's for, what the music's like, any links, dates, if they'll accept me for my moobs, etc; so when I get that info back I'll add it here. Here's my mate's website: http://www.joeecho.com/ As vague as these details are I'll vouch that it's a legit offer - I know he wouldn't be asking me to recommend someone who'll fly halfway round the world for a few beers. If you're interested, PM me and I'll pass on any details. I'm away gigging until the wee hours tonight so I'll reply then.

My Trusty CIJ Jazz through the years

You just know that's a signature bass waiting to happen - you've unwittingly taken your first steps to immortality!!!! -
Egads - I haven't even had time to chime in yet and I've already been quoted. Well, all I have to add is everything I've already said And that I'm using an Apt-Flex pickup as a replacement for the David Gage Realist and find it to be a better suit for the Eminence all round. I did buy a Kent Armstrong magnetic pickup for my Eminence but I've to get around to installing it. I do know that Trevor Hutchinson from Lunasa prefers a Fishman Full Circle to the Realist for his one, and he has toured the world and elsewhere with that thing - and he does get a truly righteous sound from it. I did have mine strung with D'Addario Helicores for several years and liked those a lot. Not really sure why I changed. Must have been a Tuesday.

Eminence removable neck 4-string upright bass
Here's the rather talented Esperanza on her Eminence (also better looking than me and - though I've not met him - Gareth Hughes, sorry mate!)
But you've never seen Esperanza and I in the same place at the same time, have you? I may well be Esperanza's beard - her covert alter ego, here to perpetuate the myth that is - Esperanza!!!! Or I may have had very little sleep last night. -
Thanks Garry - I'll check this out. Orchestration always seems like something of a black art to me, so I think I need this to dis-spell a few myths!!

Very cool seeing how things have changed over the years. And fair play for sticking with the one bass too - something most of us have a problem with -

Yup, £650 is way too much. I have a mid-60's Senator, without the staple pickups. Took it to Denmark Street about 8 years ago to sell for a friend, barely got offered £250 for it. And that's without a broken neck. Like Happy Jack said - they're a great recording bass and for noodling around the house, but live they are very limited. (But very cool if you compress the life out of it;) )

Looks great - the shape of the horns really brings out the grain. Job well done.

Yes Yes Yes - where have you been all my life? And will you marry me? Ok, the last two were in jest. But seriously folks -yes, I'd be interested in this. Do you have a list of Mr.Fitzmaurice's designs for our perusal?

Traded a TC Electronic Classic 450 for Cai's Markbass F1. Everything was effortless and cool. Cai even called me from the post office to confirm shipping costs then texted when the amp was on it's way. Buy/Trade/See with confidence.

My bad - forgot to change this to SOLD. Folks - up for sale is my ACG EQ02 onboard preamp. These are great preamps for radically changing the tone of your bass. The filters are capable of everything from sub-blowing dub to Marcus Miller crispness. This version, mounted on the control plate is no longer available (on the plate, that is). New they were £160 posted. This one is only a few months old, so selling for [s]£110[/s] £100 posted next day special delivery. Only changing because I feel the call of passive nature. Also up for trades. Here's some info from ACG: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/index.php A review from Bass Guitar Magazine: http://www.scribd.com/word/full?id=1110841...n3vobrwuhs6oqqs And some soundclips: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/docs/news/72.mp3 And a stock picture:

Hey Folks - Up for sale is my Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 amp head. Amp is about 7 months old and never used in anger. Note - I'm also selling this head as part of a combo here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=138944. I'm selling the head separately as there's been a few enquiries to selling the combo cab on it's own. New these sell for £449 so seeing as this is part of a combo, I'm selling this for [s]£290[/s] £270 shipped. Also up for trades - of the small amp variety. Or surprise me PS - the photo shows the amp with new control knobs. I got these as my eyesight sucks. The original ones are included also.

Thanks for that Jon - look forward to getting stuck in. My folks were at the Isle Of Wight. Was a very cool thing to grow up hearing stories about it.
