1. Good reminder for these Bilbo - AJ knows no boundaries. It's always refreshing to hear how relentless and inventive he is.
2.
That same Anthrax tour was my fist ever gig, with Living Colour supporting them.....ah the memories
I can't remember who supported them here - might have been somebody local. It might also have been Prong, but that could also have been at the Faith No `more gig on their 'The Real Thing' tour a few weeks later. Jeez my memory sucks.
3. I'd like to buy the '4:33' version of this
4. Damn - I'd love to see this. My first gig was seeing Anthrax on the 'State Of Euphoria' tour when I was 12. Sooooooooooo goooooooood. Also saw Megadeth a few years later on the 'Rust In Peace' tour with a then little known Alice In Chains in support. ...............................Memmmmmmmmmorrrrrrieeeeeeessss......................
5.
I'm so tempted with this head, been wanting to try one for years! What's it with money and not having a lot of it eh! Will be keeping an eye on this though! Connor
I know exactly what you mean. But.....that sure is a purty Jazz you have there if a trade tickles your fancy
6. Hey Keith - the cab hasn't gone but it does have dibs on it, so looking for someone to buy the head separately. Just saw you have a Markbass LMK head too. Great heads also.
7.
Can i have second dibs please?
Sorry Mike, Mr Bassman got in there first and the bow is gone!!!
8. You're not a fraud - and you're not alone!!! I play for a living so the smug side of me reckons I'm the dogs doo-dahs. Well, I just started playing with a new band and found myself rushing all over the place. I've always been pretty proud of my timing (one drummer I work with a lot re-named his new bands click track 'The Hughes Track'), so I was well mortified at finding myself pushing ahead. But..........I have been playing a lot with a slew of young drummers in a wedding band that rush like crazy when they gets all excited. Losing whatever sensitivity I ever had, I've just started glaring at them, doing a Status Quo impersonation to show where the time is and yelling 'Are you in a rush to get home?' at the top of my lungs mid-song. The upside to all of what you're going through is that it will make you a better musician. I used to enjoy playing with dodgy drummers because it made me work harder to establish the beat. Used to. Now it just p*sses me off.
9. Great bass for the money folks. I had one a few years back - a VERY satisfying sound indeed.
10. Folks - up for sale is my 7 month old Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0/10T combo. Never used in anger - only ever taken out to the cosiest of restaurant gigs, a few theatre gigs and some recording sessions. These are great for upright bass - the tight low end makes usable volume without feedback a breeze to achieve. Also great for theatre pits where space is restricted. Brand new these are £699. I'm selling this for [s]£520[/s] £500 including an Arriba soft case and shipping within the UK. Oh, and some new control knobs (shown in pics), as my old tired eyes didn't like the original ones. Original knobs included too. NEW BIT - I've had someone interested in buying the cab alone, so I'd also be up for selling the head separately. The head sells for £449 so I'd let mine go for [s]£300 [/s] £290 including shipping. More info from Genz Benz: The SHUTTLE series has been developed for professional players, who require an easily transported, great sounding and flexible bass system that is full-featured and extremely transportable. The heart of the SHUTTLE series is the lightweight amplifier design. This 2.75 lb amplifier is available as a “head only” or in combo versions delivering 175 watts at 8 ohms and 300 watts at 4 ohms. In the combo models, the SHUTTLE amp chassis can be easily removed from it’s combo “saddle” in seconds and carried to a larger gig in the pocket of your bass case or the available carry bag. The SHUTTLE head is extremely useful as a “stand alone” unit. The headphone output is great for quiet, personal practice sessions; you can even adjust the volume level and tone you hear with the preamp. Using the “post eq” setting on the D.I. turns the SHUTTLE into an outstanding preamp for recording sessions. The STL3.0-10T combo is ideal for café gigs, “acoustic” performances, jazz gigs or for practice. The SHUTTLE 3.0 amp when coupled to larger cabinets (NEOX-210T or 212T for example) can provide the power and clarity for much larger applications. This combo offers a Neodymium 10” and tweeter and weights a mere 18 lbs. The punch and clarity of this design is suited for a variety of venues and uses. The tone, features and performance of this SHUTTLE is sure to be a winner for many bassists the world over. Power rating is 175 watts; 300 watts with optional extension cabinet. A bottom-mounted kick stand is provided to project the sound upward towards the performer. FEATURES • Ultra Light 2.75 lb Design • Power: 175W/8 ohms; 300W/4 ohms • High Current, Class D Power Amplifier • Extended Range Input Gain for Active/Passive Sensitivity • Active EQ w/Parametric Mids • 3-Band Signal Shape Circuit • Tuner Out •Headphone Jack •Aux. 11. Hey DB Folks - Up for sale is my Glasser German Bow. It's a fibreglass bow - one of the cheap and cheerful varieties. Bought this from Gollihur's to give German grip a go but - Vive la France!!!! The bow has barely been used, so plenty of life left in the hair. Here's the info: http://www.gollihurmusic.com/product/1412-...HORSE_HAIR.html After shipping and duties it came to just shy of £70. Also included in sale is a hard case which was about £30 or so. Selling both bow and case for £60 including shipping.
12.
Not so much for jamming, but Bill Bentgen's scales podcast is pretty good for practising intonation. (If you just search his name on Itunes store, I'm sure it'll come up) I'd quite like to get into trying to practice scales with some drone notes though, if anyone knows where I can find some? EDIT - Found a couple of sites that have drones free to download, if anyone's interested.
Absolutely - where'd you get them?
13. I think this is a very useful tool. Even just using the given examples of chord tones over a 12 bar, it's a good way to demonstrate how to connect chord tones and avoid always playing on the root. Fair play and thanks to BassoRidiculoso for sharing this.
14. Envelope Filter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
15. Maybe try raising or lowering your bass, or pulling the neck in close to you so the headstock is behind your head. Careful experimentation should yield some good results.
16. Ooooo oooo - and check this one out: Sara Lee playing live on Ani DiFranco's 'Anticipate' from 'Living In Clip'.
17. Maybe not in the same vein musically - but a bassline I love playing ad infinitum in Martyn P. Casey's line on Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds cover of Nina Simone's 'Plain Gold Ring' from the 'Live Seeds' record. Beautifully hypnotic. Comes in at 0:47:
18. Bought a TC Electronic Classic 450 head from Lozz, along with a great GigSkinz bag, and a very funky beach towel. Good man is Lozz - happy to buy from him again.
19. The closest you'll come to using the POD (well, the original version anyway, that's all I'm familiar with) without any amp/cab simulation is to use the Tube Preamp setting. I used to have the 4 channel footswitch but never liked it for on the fly changes as there was a delay in switching channels. If I were you, and you knew which patch you wanted on each song (only one per song in this way) I'd use the POD with something like a Boss LS-2 Line Selector pedal. That way you would you the LS-2 to turn the POD effect on and off and still have a clean, bypassed, non-amp simulating signal.
20. Tis a good show indeed. I did it a few years ago. Who doesn't smile at 'Feed me, Seymour!!!!'?
21. Oooooops - I hope Chez Clarky doesn't smell of burnt circuit board now.
22. I did for the last few months - but I guess after all those years of resting my thumb on the neck pickup that I just fell in love with the tone found there and missed it too much, so off they came last week.
23. Yep, it'll be fine - the kettle lead is just carrying the juice from the wall. And AFAIK, those Doubler heads are voltage correcting themselves anyway, so they sort out what they need to run on.
24.
how much for just the chorus?
£40 posted.
