Time to start working on your own. Garageband is your friend. And I say this as advice for myself too. Time will come when something will be worth doing. Right now it isn't. Swings and roundabouts.

Hey Folks - Bought this combo from Jathan here a few months back. In great condition bar from one scuff on the side. Jathan didn't gig the cab out ever, I've only taken it out maybe 3-4 times. Brand new these combos retail between £1100-1200. Bought for £630 including shipping but I've added a Roqsolid cover, costing £45, so I'm looking for [s]£650[/s] [s]£620[/s] £600 posted - a whopping saving of £500-600 for a little used amp. Also open to trades. Nothing specific in mind. Combo also comes with a Genz Benz gigbag for the amp head for whenever you want to take the amp out on it's own. Nifty little feature indeed.
Get this!! It has been selected as one of the 'Books of the Year' in the December issue of the 'New York City Jazz Record'. It ain't the Booker Prize but, hell, I'll take it .... http://www.nycjazzrecord.com/
Congrats on getting this out there. And well done on the selection. Amazon wish list here we come.
if anyone says the 5-string is out of place, be thankful. they've played their arsehole card - you can move on now.
+1 - it says more about them than it does about you. My stock response for years was that 'My Girl' sounds just the same on a 6 as it does on a 4. And then if they didn't know what 'My Girl' was I knew we were in REALLY big trouble.

Have a bump for a great bass from a great guy. Had my Matt Freeman sig for about a year now and love it - more so than the Fender 2008 Am Std and Fender Japanese 70's Reissue Precisions it replaced. Just something about it that feels. and sounds, more right. Forget what you think you know about Squier's - these new ones are outstanding. And Basswood for a body sounds great - and weighs a lot less than the usual suspects. File this bass under - If I didn't have one already.......

Nice one Jerry. I live on the wrong side of the Irish Sea to come over sadly. Best of luck with the gig - I know that those who can go will be in for a treat.

Try running your pickup into something like a Boss tuner pedal before you plug into the amp. There's a whole headache about input impedances awaiting you. Have a read at this: http://www.gollihurmusic.com/faq/11-PREAMPS_DO_YOU_NEED_A_PREAMP_WITH_YOUR_URB_PICKUP.html

Hmmmmm - I have two of these and losing low end has never been a problem. What could be a problem with yours is that Electro Harmonix pedals, and this one in particular IME, are darn finnicky buggers and act up from time to time, making them more than unstable for live use.

I found lots of happiness in a Carl Marin Classic Optical Compressor.

+1 for the American Sound pedal. I've found this to be my most satisfying overdrive pedal. I've previously owned an EBS MultiDrive, Tech 21 Sansamp Bass Driver and Leeds pedals, a Wren&Cuff Phat Phuk B, an Ashdown LoMenzo HyperDrive and a few others that I can't remember right now. The £25 American Sound shouldn't be as good as it is, but it is.

BC's new classifieds section - your opinions please

I'd be happy with a subscription fee to list items. Works out about the same as a donation anyway so all good. -
For about £90 you can get a Carl Martin Classic Optical Compressor. I am seriously in love with mine - has a lovely big sound to it with the gain turned up and great, user friendly flexibility with the attack and compress knobs. I'm a fan of simple compressors for live use and this ticks the box. Had previously used a DBX 163A and a Joe Meek 3Q preamp. The Carl Martin is a happy medium there for me. Well worth the money.

And which cover is best for metal anyway?

I've fallen head over heels for them. Have them on two basses, one being my main 4 string, and have two more on the way. Would love to have one on my Precision, but after having one on an old bass found that I can't palm mute comfortably - the P cover being that bit wider than the J version. Absolutely love them and love playing with the floating thumb. Also love that it makes me clean up my left hand technique to stop unwanted strings/notes ringing.

I have the 600 and it really does cover a lot of ground. A few times I wish I'd spent the extra few quid and gotten the 900 but that's only because after years of solid state heads I still freak a little when I see a clip light, but on the Streamliner it's perfectly acceptable to have the clip light flash. As for tone at lower volumes - the Streamliner's power section is independent from the valves, meaning that the tone stays the same no matter what the volume. In other words, it's not like an all valve amp where the power amp valves play as big a part in the overall tone as the preamp valves. Well, at least that's my understanding of it. Enjoy the headphone out - it's a truly beautiful thing. And the DI is outstanding. I'd hold onto this amp forever just for the sheer quality of the DI.

Cheers for that Dood. Possibly adding that to the list of incoming Mooer's as soon as sanity disappears for the evening.
-
Dood - how do you find the Pure Boost with regards to loosing any low end? Read a few reviews on TB that say there's a tiny amount of low end loss, but that it can be added back in with the EQ. Any issues with headroom?

Marshall Super Bass 100 from 1971 - SOLD
Gareth Hughes replied to TPJ's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
I'm gonna cry reading this - my first decent amp was a SuperBass 100, bought in 1990. Probably not as early a model as this or in as good nick. Crying part is because at the stupid age of 14 I traded it for a Carlsbro 1x15 combo that was humongous and sounded sh*t. Why did I trade? Because it was cheaper than revalving it, which I knew nothing about. What a fool I was. Good luck with the sale. -
Check Thomann out - think they go as small as 1/8 or 1/10.

Just did a trade with Matt for some pedals. Great communication throughout. Would be happy to deal with again. Cheers, g
