1. the 'Master of Puppets' album by Metallica is very slightly off standard tuning. When I first started playing bass I thought my bass was going out of tune as I was playing
2. if only this was here yesterday haha. just bought one off eBay. Bump for a great deal
3. that looks...alarmingly simple... :S one of the things I like most about the MiBass was the sweep-able frequencies, along with the hi and lo mid controls. Will have to see what they have done to it.
4. get garageband or cubasix (sp?) for the ipad and you will be able to record all the instruments to programmed drums.
5. bought 2 SVT210s off Stephen, good comms, and great cabs cheers man!
6. they have been sold to me
7.
I'm definitely a music-nerd and not really a film-nerd, but watching a film twice is not much different from listening to an album twice. Each time you might notice something new, or take something slightly different from it, or just take pleasure from something awesome. Not all films stand up to repeat viewings, but many do.
I agree to a point, but I would say that it is much easier to listen to an album over and over than it is to watch a film over and over. To me, watching a film is more of a one off experience, with things I've seen going into a 'films I've seen' category, whereas when I listen to an album it goes onto my iPod and into the 'albums I like' category. Ofcourse there are exceptions; most pixar films, for example
8. I have the bass version (the one MB1 mentioned) and it is a fantastic practice amp. The basic tone is pretty nice, and for when I want a bit more I just put my SansAmp in front of it and it is brilliant. The headphone out and aux in are great for quiet practicing aswell, I use them every day.
9. awesome, I shall google that.
10. for practicing, I was thinking more along the lines of using an apogee jam/iRig to plug my bass into the iPad, then using an amp sim on the iPad that can play songs from the music library whilst I play.
11. maybe you could try suggesting reworking the vocals a bit (changing the key) and try tuning up to drop d or drop c sharp. I have only worked with one female vocalist who needed a tuning lower than drop d, and she scared the crap outta me (think angela gossow).

nice one dude! I really like the song you posted too
13. Thanks guys Based on a quick google, the iRig HD which supports the Lightning connector doesn't appear to be out yet, so I'm going to have to wait a bit I think.
14. Cheers for the replies so far guys Does anyone here use an iPad to practice? If so, what apps do you use?
15. Hey all, I've recently got myself an iPad and I am looking to get some apps and the appropriate peripherals to allow me to practice and do some basic recording. I was wondering what you guys would recommend in terms of apps and bits of kit to connect my bass to the iPad. Cheers
16. I think it is dependent on things like dispersion and other sciencey things that I'm not too good with haha. if you go to the Barefaced Bass website, they have some really useful pages with this sort of information on them.
17. The main idea is that you match speaker configurations and manufacturers if at all possible. I.e. 2 410s or 210s will be made to exactly the same spec and react in the same ways at gigs. As long as the 210 and 410 are from the same range of cabs, then they should react in very similar ways too. The biggest issue when mixing speaker sizes and/or manufactures is that you introduce some uncertainty as to how they will behave when put together in different environments (e.g. boomy halls and things like that)
18.
You're dirty. Anyway, proper head starts at £400, everyone knows that.
You've obviously been going to the wrong places, haha.
19.
I take your point mate. Just it's very rare we get PA support at our gigs. Just want to ensure i have the power to handle those situations. I think after doing further research i am gonna go down the 4x10 + 2x10 stack - as i have been told they'll pair better. My only concern is the 2x10 is 300w and my amp will be sending 275w to it - so wouldn't want it to start farting. Also if i ever get a more powerful amp then it doesn't leave me much scope powerwise with the 2x10 - meaning i may in the future have to overhaul everything again. Basically just want to know the 2x10 will be fine with 275w going to it.
You should also note that you will only be sending 275W to the 210 if you have the master volume at full, which I seriously doubt you ever will. At normal gigging volumes you will most likely be sending 200W absolute maximum.
20.
Thanks mate! You putting something up this month?
I will be getting my guitar from my mum's house this weekend, along with my recording stuff, so if I can set aside the time, then definitely I'm still learning though, so it won't sound all that nice, haha. when does the competition close?
21. I would second the advice on getting the 410 first. You can then buy a second cab if you need it, but you may well find that you don't. If you have your heart set on 2 cabs, then I would say look into a 410 and 210, or 2 210s.
22. I don't know I'm afraid, it won't be extortionate though If you PM him he will be more than happy to advise you I'm sure.
23. I can't see it either :S
24. is the P-bass pickup in the same place as it is on aerodyne basses? if it is then you could try looking for aerodyne replacement guards too. Also, Howard (The Bass Doc) on here can make you a pickguard if you send him a template. Try dropping him a message and see he can help you out.
