1. The pickup switching is different from how you've described it. There's a very good description and diagram on the musicman website here (scroll down and click on "control function diagrams"): https://www.music-man.com/instruments/basses/sterling It's worth noting that this model doesn't do the classic Stingray tone (which is the humbucker in PARALLEL). The HS model only does the humbucker in series. (The single H model does both series and parallel). Still a lovely bass and really cool to have a single coil with phantom in the neck position.

3. Etienne recently bought my Precision Bass Special. It was a very smooth transaction. He was very trusting as he paid me up front and was prepared to wait until we could sort out the logistics as he was away on tour. I'd hoped to be able to deliver the bass in person but in the end we arranged for it to be sent to him via courier; this was a couple of weeks later. Furthermore, it was another couple of weeks until he was home and able to try out the bass. Throughout the whole transaction, Etienne communicated clearly and regularly. It was a pleasure to deal with him and I would not hesitate to deal with him again and I heartily recommend him to others. My only regret is that I never got chance to meet this man in person, he's evidently a really nice guy. Maybe next time. Thanks, Etienne!

5. Got my hopes up there, until I realised they were 5-strings. Good luck with the sale.
6. Argh, if you'd listed this a month ago I probably would've bought it. I just bought a Fender American Standard PJ. Stunning.

11. Bump for a great bass. I had the privilege of meeting its owner this afternoon, who is a lovely and extremely hospitable guy and trying out this funky instrument.
12.
I have had a couple of Mexican P Basses and they were OK. My Nate Mendel however, knocks the spots off some US Fenders.
I second that! The copy of the Mendel bass I tried was way better than the US models I tried.
13. Thanks, Jules. I'll do that. At least I know that they'll fit.
14. I'll be coming to London on Thursday and staying until Sunday so could potentially bring it with me for a buyer.
15. I've just noticed that I've been buying the long scale version of these strings. Would the medium scale ones fit a P bass? It says "for basses up to 34" scale length" so ought to be ok, right? Also, have the tensions changed since the new packaging came in? The figures given on my packet don't tally with those listed on the website.
16. Whereabouts in north London are you? I'm travelling there Thursday to Sunday and would like to check this out if I may.
17. Weighs 4.17kg on my kitchen scales. 4.5kg when subtracting whilst holding on the bathroom scales.
18. It's USA as stated in the title. It's from 1997 or 1998. This model was only produced for those two years.
19. There's also a Fender USA Precision Bass Special (P body, J neck, passive PJ with VVT). I have one for sale in the marketplace but it's a rosewood neck. Sadowsky Metro Hybrid PJ is another option.
