  1. Good to hear as i recently bought a bass that came with a hiscox case and took a trip to the factory to get some extra padding so that it fits more snugly and a back pack harness so I can carry it around like a gig bag. Really nice people there. We may be touring abroad next year so I was hoping that it would be ok and not have to take a cumbersome traditional flight case. I had considered a bass safe but my gig bag won't fit.
  2. We were Passing the Dutchie and headlining at CamperJam last night in Weston Park. Great audience considering there were a few heavy downpours, there were still shed loads of people who still stayed out to catch our set.
  3. Is there a quantative difference between basses that are the monkey's b*ll*cks an the dog's b*ll*cks?😂🤪🎶
  4. Anyone had experience of taking their bass abroad in a Hiscox case?
  5. None, don't drink alcohol at all and don't like gigging on a full tummy either. So i guess it's just the natural adrenaline that starts pumping before a gig.
  6. I just want to know how to roll an iphone headphone cable and put it into my pocket without it tying itself into knots.🤬
  7. I have a couple of Alembic F-1x preamps and SF-2 superfilter units in separate racks.
  8. My version of a bass rig made in heaven. Alembic preamps, Crown power amp and barefaced cabs of which i have 3 to choose from. BT2, BB2 and Dubster2 that i can use individually (mostly) or any combination. I like a clean hifi sound.
  9. If you are looking for a combo, Pjb Briefcase is 100w and can be battery powered. You can also use an external cab.
  10. My main gigging bass for about 10yrs
  11. Seems so long ago now. Shame they didn't let us keep the suits. 😎🥳🤩🧐
  12. Same here, though when i first got mine i did use his sound as reference material so i could explore the controls with a tonal aim in mind. The only time i try to emulate him is if i am covering one of his tracks on a gig. Superb bass though.
  13. Battery is chemical... ;-)😁
  14. Apart from not having a pinky, 😄🤲🏾 i have always used my little finger when playing bass. Something that came naturally from my guitar playing days.
  15. Yep we did the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony.. Sadly we could not keep the suits, they have apparently gone to a museum somewhere.
  16. Millican and Nesbit more like. 👍🏾🎶🎶
  17. I'm not sure i can visualise what you are describing, also I have lightweight barefaced cabs which i guess would not be heavy enough to brace the EUB.
  18. Not a one hit wonder as such but i'm in a band who, decades before I joined, had one huge worldwide No:1 hit song back in 1982. There were a few more hit records for a few years till the band broke up. Some years later they reformed, and I was recruited as a session guitarist for a few years then got asked to join the band. A few years after that we parted company amicably, then in 2012 after depping on bass for them on a couple of gigs, i rejoined as their bass player and have been "Passing the Dutchie" with them ever since. We have not had any hits whilst i have been playing with them, though we have released an album which was started during my absence and when I returned I got to play bass on one of the tracks which was recorded at one of our gigs. In fact if memory serves me right it is the only non synth bass track on the album. The track is a cover of "I Shot the Sheriff" and the album is called When Reggae Was King.
  19. For my dep gig tomorrow night playing with a Bob Marley & The Wailers tribute band im taking this setup.
  20. I cannot convince my ears that 1/4" strip of wood makes a significant difference to the overall sound of a fretted electric bass. A fretless maybe? All my electric basses are fretted and have ebony boards, not because i made that choice for to sonic reasons, it's an aesthetic preference. I like the look of maple fretboards too. Not seen any pau ferro fretboards.
  21. And I guess that I should cut it on the waste side of the bend. If strings are likely to unwrap if cut wrongly, then the right method of cutting should be on the pack somewhere to let in experienced Dunlop string users like me know. I'm putting this down to experience now and thanks for the advice chums. 🙂
  22. I recently bought a couple of new sets of these strings from the Dunlop stand at the guitar show in Solihull earlier this year. Anyway i was replacing an older set. My normal procedure is to just lay the string so it is about an inch or so past the next tuner along then cut it. This is usually enough to get a tight wrap each tuning peg after poking the end down the tuner hole. However this time i cut the string and all was ok till the tension started to increase for tunning and the string started to unravel. so now i have a three string set. I contacted Dunlop but have not had a response back from them. Anyone else had this issue or can telll me what i am doing wrong. I have always used this method and my other basses that all have d'addario pro steels and never had this issue. This is the second time it's happened with dunlop strings.
