1.
Hmmm ........... there a are quite a few companies who claim that (not to mention four different factories who claim to make Epiphone's Les Pauls) so with the greatest of respect I would advise taking that claim with a pinch of salt.
I was told that by a guy who imports them to America and uses them as a basis for customs (works out cheaper than painted body blanks or something) that was the case, when he was reccomending a buy from someone other than himself.
2. Just came across this dude, anyone else play like that?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHTSVU_e37U
3. I've used one as the basis for lots of modding. I decided I like the really thick neck, so I kept it, took a bit of a tinker and by this point I've replace pretty much everything except the wood and some screws. I just bought a Johnson jazz and am modding that too, using the neck I was planning to put on the first one. The nuts are terrible, looks like they put a soft plastc one on the put the strings on hot, also they are glued in and a pain to change.
4.
With all these super duper prizes being offered, would it be an idea to throw it open to all Basschat members? This way the pot would be bigger. You could allow people to Paypal an amount for tickets up to the day before the bash, then some poor soul gets the task of allocating tickets to those "non-present" members. Perhaps if anyone who doesn't make it to the bash agrees to pay shipping for any prize they win. Should be fairly easy to organise, easy to show that all is "above board", and would I'm sure attract a lot more raffle entrants.
+1 I'll poke through my miscellaneous crad just post moving, will have something bass related going.
5.
PMed for tool - 10.000 days
Oh, dammit.
6. VJ still hasn't approved my sign up. All I wanted was to hassle people selling basses and make fun of my guitarist selling all his gear and having to play with my crappy stuff. Edit: Main thing I meant to say to do with topic is pm and beer must be the plan.
7. I'm moved to Bristol, someone introduced me to the 'Choke' forum, thats where I hooked up with the scene, by finding the metallers who turn up there and say they despise the place. Also Shockwave and his horrible pointy basses is an extremely popular and much respected forum member.
8.
I've often wondered why more manufacturers don't do this
Guess its lots of hassle, for something that most people never notice, also, harder to buy in necks from outside or something. Money basically.
9. Bolt neck, with threaded inserts and machine screws, gotta be the way, can do them up as tight as you like without stripping, anf you can adjust the action and everything.
10. Pbassred QUOTE Is that 3 piezo transducter type things being put under a bridge? Did you do this? I saw them in maplins and was considering it, can you tell me how it went? It was rubbish! The yamaha has the electronics on board to amplify it (if you enable it). The tone was good. Unfortunatly it picked up all of the vibration of the bass - finger noise neck, rubbing against the body.... everything. It really needs a proper saddle pickup.
11. A fairly regular poster has a avatar of three Maplins type piezo elements stuck to the top of a bass to go under the bridge, I pm'd and asked about it, but he said it picked up all the noise made by your clothes rubbing against the bass and such, so didn't work out that great.
12. With care, start with a damp cloth, and breath, work your way up form there, might be all you need.
13. Make sure his bass is intonated right and he knows how to check its in tune, so his ear learns with his fingers.
14. Ooooh, gutted, after all the fuss you had getting the number. I just had a bass shipped to my work address, had to agree with poster that I took risk limited to £50 cause it wasn't hardcased. Course, it was a bass I paid £50 for anyway, and it turned up fine. A glueing and clamping will sort it right out. How's the Bailey's work compare to TomWaghorn's? I've always had him do stuff for me, I kept checking in on progress of my thing and saw a Thunderbird having a headstock job done, looked spotlesss toward the end.
15. Ah, cocks, was about to bag the Kyuss.
16. I've got two beat up ones of these, and since this saved me finding a pic and such, I can offer same deal, but for beat up ones.
17. If you score a Proco juggernaut cheap on ebay (which you can cause they kinda suck) you can use the fx loop on that and blend with its own effect off, or you can do what I do and use it to blend two signals just using the fx return (which on some is labelled wrong).
18. I like the growl from my DHA valves, but they have to warm up and such and change sound when they are fully warm, all the valve joy.
19. Well, my nerdy audiophile mate said this is a good deal. But I have a nice enough amp. I'm putting the word about though.
20. I've killed a few hifi speakers playing bass through them. Can't reccomend it.
21. My first bass, beat up and gifted to me. I zebra striped it to cover the worst of the holes.
22.
Totally off topic, but they should make a mix of the two and call it a phlanger. Just for the name. Oh, erm.. i spose I should cover my ass: Bump!
My guitarist has one of those, called is a phlaser, its got all sorts of switches to change the order they come in and such.
23. Hmmm, that sounds more traumatic than is funny. I only came here to make a joke about a shortscale with a huge bottom end I've been GASing over recently.
24. OK, anyone got any good ideas how these cabs can go somewhere before I have to move house?
25. I have an EMG 35HZ pickup, with the 5 pins, but no cable for it. Anyone have a spare or some way I can figure which pin is what so I can just solder wires on?
