1. I recorded the Caricatures album using the valve one. Recall it was heavy, but not considering it is a 400w valve head. Far too many knobs and switches, mostly a case of figuring which switch turns off the knobs. I heard the chap I borrowed it from got rid because all the fault lights lit up. Fairly sure they are telling him the bias is drifting, as new valves do, and it needed setting to its new equilibrium. It has got lots of complicated in it.
2. I know (most of us know) a guy who used heavy standard strings for tuning to drop A (actually drop, like AEAD. There are tonal compromises, but he compensates with lots of pedals and multiple giant rigs (I'm guessing that's what he is compensating for).
3.
I have seen Greenboy's fEarful cab designs on talkbass and bill fitzmaurice's designs, but there doesn't seem to be a 2x10" design- I guess there is a technical reason for that?
15s and 12s are better, basically, in practice, the best of the 12s and 15s are better than the best of the 10s.

Big Muff

The big silver one is great if you like tinkering. Space for all sorts of mods and more knobs.
6. Another modern one: Tuscany.
7.
there can still be current in the transformers for a long time.
The capacitors are the bit that stores a charge and zaps you.
8. Big silver job, in the wooden box, ripe for modding (kinda my plan, but kinda admitting I am sorted for fuzz).
9. Offers? Could do with it moving on before I end up buying it off him. Might have a new plate far it (although pushing it if you want than included for a lower offer).
10. I can sort a power amp local to the pre if it swings it, £75.
11. Generally power amps are designed not to colour the sound, but inevitably they do to an extent. The bit that can disagree with the preamp is the input sensitivity, if the power amp needs 1.5v from the pre to reach full volume, and your pre tops out at 0.75v, its not going to reach the potential of the amp. There are more specs to a power amps than watts also. High pass filtering is also handy.

13.
Don't suppose you are driving down near London any time soon as I'm quite interested in this as a pair for my new Orange valve amp (AD200B)?
You mean pairing it up with the Orange, or running a pair of Vintages from the Orange for your new Doom direction?
14. I also have a Mesa Strategy power amp that might go with this, flightcased, £1k total, that would be a beasty rig. Just have an excessive number of other valve amps.
15. I use a 0.145 low A taperwound, custom made by Newtone strings. Could do with a littly more tension, but I use .110 E in standard.
16. Try a blues jam night.
17. Which one is less subscribed? The student teacher ration might be better, and there will be less competing people.
18. Gumtree don't really do support. I reported a chap who was doing the old bait and switch, listing cheap and then asking for more. They told me to negotiate a price with him.
19. This is full scale, and the neck heel looks pretty much like that, but the corner has been sanded off too, guess to make it easier to drop into the route, doesn't show when it is together.
20. No way to scam if you are getting the money from WU, don't send it till you have the cash in hand, and they can't take it back. The scams go the other way. Edit: previous link Do they have a good reason for using WU? Beats giving them your bank details, make sure they know you aren't going to rush to send before money is in your hand.
21. Stripping another project bass. £12 posted, with the wires and volume pot.
