1. Never tried those particular ones but every budget bass string I experimented with would sound and feel reasonably good but they all die incredibly fast.
2. Maybe you want to try these https://www.warmanguitars.co.uk/product/p-bass-classic-pickup-8-56kohm-and-5-21-henries/ I am sure glad I did!
3. Good looking Bird, what did you pay for it?
4. The chap playing in that video would make anything sound good ☺️ But I agree, it is a winner!
5. I have the burst version of this model, it is indeed a great bass despite some drawbacks. The neck dives, but there is no T-bird shaped bass that doesn''t. The bridge on mine went straight to the bin while I was doing a refin, loved the looks but wouldn't live with the way it adjusts, what where they thinking!? The neck is set so no swapping with a lefty model. This is what it looks like now.
6.
It does look like HB neck pockets are made to Fender dimensions, not checked mine but it looks close. Don't want to take 2 basses apart to check!
I had put a Fender neck onto a HB bass and it fitted perfectly
7. I just found this ad on eBay: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Vintage-Fender-Telecaster-Bass-1969-/301498042838?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_77&hash=item4632af09d6 (translation into english) A wonderful and very rarely found Fender Telecaster Bass. If you enter the serial number on the neck plate into the Guitar Dater Project, you will find the info that it is a 1969...but no liability. The beauty of this bass is difficult to photograph. The bass was played for decades and it rewards this with a sensational sound. Of course, due to its old age there are signs of use, scratches, dings and dongs and those popular cracks in the paint - just for people who appreciate a beautiful stylish relic/vintage look. As you can see, it is not all original, because the previous owner has fitted a second Fender Vintage pickup so that you have some more sound available. He enlarged the routing for the Telecaster pickup under the cover in a slightly rustic fashion so the pickup can be fitted straight or angeled. The two small switches are not functioning but according to a luthier they can be activated. So, this is a bass for individualists who might want to invest some time into the wiring. If this doesn't bother you and you are looking for a absolute tone monster, search no more. It is an actual dream bass, but the really chunky neck is too "fat" for me. only 2499 euros.
8. [sup]There is a land of peace and seredipity, far away, up north, and Peavey basses of all walks of life are flocking there in great numbers.....[/sup]
9. Just out of interest, did the seller mention the issues the neck/trussrod had? Good to hear you got it sorted out in the end! I really dig that T45, classic look, really nice! Enjoy your new additions to the tribe!
10.
I'd also like to know if a neck with Fender dimensions would fit on the bass.....
from my experience the HB neck pockets are exactly the same as fenders. the 4 holes didn't match on my bass though, i had to drill new ones but otherwise a perfect fit.
11. I had a similar issue with my fretless. in my case it turned out that the truss rod was vibrating, a very slight clockwise turn sorted it out.
12. i play a 4 string HB bass and i am extremely happy with it as far as the playability and sound goes. of course they are budget instruments, be prepared to make adjustments. but you might need to do that on more expensive basses too. i would not hesitate to buy another one or two, every time i play it i'm amazed how much bass that little money can buy. they don't give you much to snob about though, so if image is relevant, you might want to look eslewhere.
13.
Does anyone know what their P-copies are like? They seem to be popping up on eBay now.
not yet but this one will come to me as soon as possible! must be a new product because no details or specs on the website. but oh my, what a beauty!
14. i am not an expert on fenders but the bass in question does not look such an abomination to me as the thread title suggests? the modifications were done very well it seems but i agree that the asking price is rather high for such a bass.
