1. Thanks everyone for all your wise words, it looks like either the pa needs to get bigger or I need a decent bass amp. no cheap solutions I agree that bands sound better through a pa, more balanced and less dueling amps going on. or perhaps it's more a case of the bands that can afford a pa big enough to carry all its instruments are better players.
2. Cheers BOD2 I read your thread before I posted but was a little confused,(a common occurance) it makes more sense now I'm a little more enlightened.
3. Cheers Thinman, yes there will be some drum mics involved, I suppose what I'm really trying to find out is what can be done with the gear that is to hand. The pa will be travelling in my car so there's also the space consideration. I don't have loads of money to spend on a big amp, would adding a sub woofer to the pa give it the boost it needs?
4. Thanks all, I just thought that since the singer is going through the pa then I can save on buying a big bass rig. The pa is a pair of Mackie thump 15a's which go quite loud. The idea behind using a combo was so it could be used at rehearsals and home. Could I get away with using a 60watt combo? and can I go straight to the mixing desk from the xlr out in the aforementioned combo or would I need a di box? Sorry if my questions are stupid but I'm a drummer who's trying to play bass.
5. Is there any reason why I can't use the pa as my main sound source and have a small combo for a monitor? So my bass - combo - mixing desk - pa. Would this work or am I missing something bleedin' obvious?
6. Well done everyone, there's no shortage of talent here. Really enjoyed listening to all the contributions.
7.
I couldn't get past the left hand glove with the missing finger. What is all that about? The exercise is a bit contrived - I can play that just as fast using alternate index/middle all the way through without any rakes. The one in 'Sensitive' makes a bit more sense.
Scott suffers from focal dystonia, he gives a full explanation on his website, (tried to put a link here but couldn't get it to work)
8. In the video Scott plucks from the E string to the G then rakes back to the E string, its just a more efficient way to play, you probably already do it without realising.
9. not really a fan of the new direction they've taken, but hats off to them for their courage to experiment and innovate rather than turn out albums that all sound the same. I'd wager it's them who are in control of the music they make not the record companies telling them what they want to sell.
10. Stating the obvious but flat wounds won't chomp your fretboard like a hungry round wound will. pictures of the build look sweet.
11. The case it on hold as Fumps is trying to arrange collection, thanks for the interest.
12. I can do that if you want but as it says in the op its pretty battered and I wouldn't want to pay £20 for it. send me a pm if you want it.
13. pm replied, totally agree, Yorkshire needs to go on a boil wash to shrink it to a more manageable size.
14. good luck woolf, i've been trying to give away a hard case too and even with a free air guitar i can't shift it. mabe the recession hasn't bit deep enough yet.
15. I hope EBS pay you a fee,I looked at one of these a few days ago, your review has been most helpful in helping make the decision. cheers Dood
16. if you look closely you can see how snugly the air guitar fits the case!
17. what a great day out, do they let anyone in? and why don't they give away stickers with strings? got a set of roto flats on my bass, very nice. Good to see a British company doing well.
18. wonder if he's keeping the lower mannequin parts for anything special?
19. Can't help with the noodlings but any chance you could help me with the break?
