If it has a clear finish, you can do a fair bit with steaming out the dented part (if you have bare wood, wet tissue/cloth on it and put a soldering iron on briefly, so the steam pops the dented wood fibres out), that also cleans out the grub, then fill the hole with layers of superglue then polish down.
im gonna deliberatley dent my project"frank the fecker"to try this.....
 4.
£48 from the States is pretty good. It's the import charges you have to watch out for.
quotes"Seller charges sales tax for items shipped to: (6.5%). "i usually avoid buying anything overseas too
 5.
Yes. Tiny dings etc. can be sanded out then cleverly refinished. Chips or gouges need more work. Filler will hardly ever look good.
Totally agree....or a big CND sticker if you cant be arsed sanding.
Can knocks and chips in the wood of a headstock be repaird or patcheed up on a unpainted headstock without it looking awful and if so how?
think it depends how bad the knock or chip is,if its unpainted my guess would be a near as poss match wood filler.

 18.
I feel completely vindicated by the number of replies. And the quality of the puns. Also, auction pics 101: clear the floor first, take your notebook out of the case, and any old bits of Kleenex, unless they're included.
ffs limited level of humour you can extract from an accidental footwear placement,i thought each to its merit was excellent.
ive seen uglier stuff
didnt know they had made a Susan Boyle replica bass.......dunno about uglier, ive seen stuff thats obviously had a bit more time spent on the design, that looks like its been knocked up on a square of bog roll during someones 5 minute visit to the shithouse.just my opinion though

 21.
My first amp was a 20w gorilla amp, had the growl knob and a sticker on the top which said "hear this gorilla growl!" along with a picture of the aforementioned primate in a rather agressive mood. probably worth buying just for the sticker, just as well as it was a rubbish amp. Although it was all i could afford at the time it still made me cringe every time i took it to practice. Interestingly the guitar versiions had a scream knob and similar sticker.
Your description of the bad mooded monkey knob nearly had me phoning this, but im holding out for an amp with a volume knob that goes all the way......to 11
 22. Found this locally, was tempted then realised i cant properly use my current bass with 2 pickups nevermind eight, also a Gorilla amp with a growl button. http://edinburgh.gumtree.com/edinburgh/41/75528141.html
 23. "Has 2 blows on top, 1 on back."a £50 bass has received the same erotic pleasures as me 46 yrs old and 6 kids later....
 24. If its just a case of the actual thread stripped,ie-screw turns without tightening, coating the screw in a descent epoxy glue and letting set will work, usually as a screws chrome plated too it can be removed leaving the threaded glue bit where you want it as chrome/zinc plating isnt very porous.
