I bought the Ryder to Mod and its exactly what al be doing, to be honest, if it never came in sonic blue i wouldnt have bought one. (silly, i know) I plan on somehow getting another and putting in two jazz pups and having a set of stacked knobs again with a Mighty Mite neck. I think i'm modding just for the sake of it...
Seems a good bass to mod with, new, cheap and wirings a breeze,im doing my cheapo Marlin P bass that the wife erm"surprised" me with at xmas,i had a set Duncan Designed pups lying around,2 months later it now looks like a tarts handbag with gold hardware everywhere and a fetching set of DR luminous green strings and new headstock logo reading"Fecker jizz bass",,ironically all this has made it less embarrassing to play
 2.
Ah. I've not tried getting carpet off but I can imagine it being a real pain in the ar*e... I had a quick Google but the only UK place I could find are looking at £100 in materials and £140 in labour per cab.
If your like me and dont care about keeping cabs original you could visit your local carpet store and buy the cheapest cord carpet they sell,i covered an old Peavey 1820 with it in a fetching charcoal colour, put new corner bits from Maplin on and it looked the dogs danglies i used evo stick aquired from work but in the past used spray adhesive...isnt hard carpet came in 3.3 mtr length and i bought a metre wide strip, cost about 12 quid, corners were about 4 quid for heavy plastic ones.
 3.
Hi all. Just fitting some EMG Selects onto a rebuild project I've got going on. A little confused about the wires coming out of the p-ups... The EMG instructions refer to a white wire and an unspecified (but coloured black in the diagram) ground wire. My wires are white and a bare wire with an orangey sheath. (Pics below). Should I assume that my white is the white refered to in the diagram and that the bare wire is the ground? Cheers!
The bare is defo to ground.
 4. Most the stuff ive learned has been from Scotts site, intending starting his video tutoring soon as due to my work schedule i cant pre book lessons with anyone locally, his stuff i found on Youtube from day 1 has kept me interested in bass and by far the best ive seen online, others i tried albeit excellent players seem to forget picking up an instrument from scratch is challenging and what they find really basic and easy is total alien to the likes of me.....good to see these guys though that love what they do so much they take time out to share it with us.

 7.
The rear section of a loudspeaker has a tube shaped former with a precision wound coil around it. The coil is dunked in a laquer to prevent the windings from slipping as the speaker moves in and out. If the speaker has a 'seized coil' then it has generally been overpowered at some point in its life and the laquer has melted and sometimes some of the windings will slip down the former. This stops the speaker from moving in and out smoothly and poor performance and sound quality will be heard. In anticipation of the obvious question, no you can't - it'll need a recone
Cheers guys that clears that up,its part of a rake of gear im getting off a dude emigrating to Australia so doesnt have a bearing on the price etc, wont be going down the recone road again, done it with an 18" black widow out of an old Peavey 1810 cab and it cost more than i paid for the peavey mk111 head AND the cab,if they had been fixable i had this stupid notion of building a cab using the 3 x18" and 4x10" Scorpions i have spare....would have led to grief from the wife n kids and probably an ASBO too...thanks again
 8. Any finishing work is f***ing extortionate,i paint anything from cars to bikes and the last few months have done old(worthless too)strat copies, without blowing my own horn they turned out immaculate, you make the best of what enviorment you have, even a cupboard does, just make sure its dust free and at a decent temprature,if your using a new blank give it a go m8 you will be surprised with the results, for starts you dont have much sanding taking old paint laquer of,get it smooth as you can, feel it as well as scrutenizing it before painting,in any refinishing work the saying"if a blind man can feel it,a blind man can see it"applies,i dont even sand between coats,i build the colour up then wet sand using 1200 grade wet n dry,the laquer gives the paint depth so apply it in thin coats til you get bored........plenty of them, then i use 1500 grit wet n dry(again wet)when FULLY dry, then automative cutting compound(forget T Cut its useless imo)if you spend the time on it you will get a finish better than many stock finished guitars ive seen, save a fortune plus yel be chuffed knowing you done it........sorry to rattle on about it lol but its somehing ive really got into recently,if you decide to go for it PM me and ill send you a couple of good e-books on axe painting
 9. Im picking a job lot of amp/cab gear this weekend,Im told theres 2x300w 18" Fane speakers in it that the cones are ok on but have"seized voicecoils"anyone heard of this and what causes it??

 22.
I still use mine as my hifi amp 26 years after I bought it. Yes, there are better amps, but you have to wander up into multiple £100's. I do not need another, but how much?
Sorry forgot to put a price, its lying doing nothing so £25 or swap for something i could use for my bass(current bass related things are, bass, strap, tuner n bag)so anything useful.
 23. Old and well rated....works well,if you still wear flares and are caught in a time warp its a quality addition to yer soundsystem.
