Braguesa

Fantastic - very cool. I'll check that demo out when I get home tonight, cool looking thing. I've actually now decided I have no use for the Braguesa, so it's up for sale if anyone wants to dabble in something a bit different!
2. My first bass was a mid 90s Encore P, and it lives on in my parts bass (the body at least) - the only bass I've kept hold of in fact. It's a plywood body as far as I can make out (a few dents in the paint over the years have shown the layers underneath), certainly fairly heavy.

4. I've taken a guitar to practice on a motorbike before. Never again.

6. I bought this new a few weeks ago from Hobgoblin. Typical impulse buy, I thought I'd end up using it on a load of recordings but it's not really the sound I need. It does sound lovely, though, a bit like a 12 string guitar crossed with a mandolin. It's exactly like this, and is in as new condition: http://www.hobgoblin...aguesa-page.htm You can see it sat behind me noodling in my living room here to get an idea of the size: £220 + postage ONO. I need a pedalboard, ebow and a volume pedal if anyone wants to trade.
7. Very kind of you as ever Oli, it's just finding the time to do so really, and managing to get the car off the missis!
8. Ta! I wish I could afford to keep it but I can't justify having 2 guitar amps. It does sound great!
9. Great stuff. Interesting how the bass is backed off in the mix to allow the toms to come through in the chorus. Unsure if that happens on the actual song or if it's just on the isolated tracks?

12. I'm selling my DSL 100 head - it's a bit tatty (scuffs in tolex, the black grill on the front face of the amp has come loose) but does the job (sounds great!). Revalved and biased recently. There is an issue with the 16ohm speaker output, I'm led to believe this is fairly common and can be caused by a ground wire coming loose - I havent the time to sort it so I've priced the amp accordingly. I used the amp a few weeks ago when my AC30 was out of action, and the normal 4/8ohm outputs work fine. It sounds really great, I'm loathe to sell it for this money but can't justify having two amps. 15. Check on the Statii forums, I'm sure they come up from time to time. Like an S2 Classic but with a slightly different pickup arrangement I think (P/J)?
16. Having been born and raised in Bath, it's not Baff, or Barth, it's, er... Bath!
17. I'm still very happy with my AC30 choice - I've been using it for home practice and recording and getting some great sounds at low volumes (particularly like the top boost channel with treble and bass at around 3 'o clock), but will finally be taking it to a proper band practice at the weekend and cranking it up. Maybe hearing it full whack will make me re-appraise the sounds I've been getting at lower levels? Either way I'm looking forward to it!
18. Before you invest in a new bass, have you changed the strings lately? Even if you want a thuddy tone and end up EQing out the treble and zing of new strings, there's a lot of harmonic detail lower in the frequency range that dies off as the strings get old - it can make a huge difference when recording. The weak link in a lot of cheaper basses tends to be the pickups, so it may also be worth considering a pickup upgrade rather than scrapping the instrument if it plays well (as a lot of modern budget basses do). I record using a parts bass made out of all sorts of cheap bits and bobs, but I chucked decent pickups in and it sounds great (all I care about really).
