2.
Thinking of putting a Chris Squire Electra style project together. I can get a routed blank from Warmoth for about $140 but with shipping and customs, etc. it's not worth it. Any ideas or recommendations where I could get one made in the UK? Preferably drivable from London. I'm not looking for expensive woods, just a decent bit of ash or alder, shaped and routed to my specs, I'll supply the drawings and I will do all the finishing myself. Cheers!
Try Paul Waters hes in Bishop Stortford tel 01279 310 106....Although famed for his arch top Jazz boxes he will build just about anything...such as the best T-Line tele Ive ever heard or owned...The blokes an artist with wood... 4.
Hi everyone - some exciting news I think I've managed to get a bit of a 'coup' from Phil Nixon who's in the process of setting up his new BassGear business. Two of his new distrubution deals are with Alleva Coppolo and Bag End. Phil can't make it himself on Sunday but he's going to drop off a pair of ex NAMM Alleva Coppolo basses plus some Bag End cabs for people to demo on Sunday. I've known him for a while & his dad lives near me so Phil was able to drop these down for me to collect and bring on Sunday. I'll bring my two as well so we'll have 4 in total - I'm not sure there's ever been so many on display in the UK at one time! The four will be: My two 1 x LTD4, J shaped body, trans cherry finish, composite rosewood board with Aguilar pre-amp & pickups. Built for Aggie to demonstrate their electronics at Winter NAMM this year. 1 x Signature 4 - the ex Willie Weeks bass with a P bass body & J pickups plus Jimmy's J pre amp. This one has been around the world with Willie on tour with Eric Clapton Phil's NAMM pair 1 X KPB4 Classic Supreme - originally built for Chuck Rainey (who's now ordered the same basic spec but in a 5 string) in spalted cherry maple with brazilian rosewood board 1 x Ltd Edition LG5 in walnut with a walnut neck, skunk stripe & passive pre. Very rare ltd bass built as part of pair to show how Jimmy would build one of these basses with a solid walnut finish. I've tried to attach some pics below - apologies they are of different sizes and shapes - not enough time to re-size them all properly. There's also a pdf from Jimmy about the walnut basses (unfortunately I can't bring both so asked to use the 5 string as all the others are 4's). Phil has also bought some new Bag End cabs down & I'll try to fit in as many as I can. Hopefully 1x15, 1x12 & 1x10. May mean I can't bring some of my own stuff that I was planning to bring but thought this was a great opportunity to show some of these amazing basses all in one place!
Fancy telling us Pikeys " theres somefing worth nicking"

 6.
I've now got a Ibanez GSR200 which is about to be defretted by my luthier but I need to decide on strings. Apparently my options are flatwound, tapewound or half round... but I am totally clueless with fretless strings as this'll be my first! Any assistance would be appreciated
I tend to use anything I can find in a skip!!!!

 8.
Hey all, Just after a bit of advice and some opinions with regards to these tunes. I have just joined a 8 piece soul/funk/disco band and am in the process of learning all of the tunes. I have been given a few tunes to get started on and although making progress with the actual notes I am having some issues with getting the sound. The following tracks seem to have very stoccato, burpy, dead sounding bass tones and I was wondering if it was the way the bass was recorded or technique or am I in fact listening to basses with flatwounds on? Having never had experience of flats I am wondering if getting some would help me get the sound? My jazz sounds too zingy and bright for some of these tunes despite some EQ fiddling. Songs: Aint no stopping us now Le Freak Boogie Wonderland Lost in Music You to me are everything Disco Inferno You should be dancing Any Ideas?
DEFO NO They were all wearing HEELS
 9.
Thats what it feels like to us. Another reason i am a tad more resentful is that this guitarist and me were in a band about 8 years ago and she became impossible to work with. it ended badly. Posthumously, the band was offered a fairly good record deal and I do still blame her for it ending before its time in the sun, but its all internalised, festering away as a harmless rage-based mental condition. so no harm there
Like Eddie & the HotRods daid DO ANTHING YOU WANNA DO That applies to all

 15.
STOLEN ALL BLACK JAZZ BASS - TAKEN FROM CAR BEHIND KOKO, CAMDEN. Friday night I had the back window of my car smashed in behind Koko in Camden. My Black Fender Jazz Bass was taken - was later told I was the third person this year to have this happen to them on that street. Apparently they watch you load in and out and pick their moment! If anyone hears anything about it, please get in contact as I loved this bass: Fender US Standard Black Jazz Bass with Black Scratchplate and Rosewood Neck (S1 Switching) Fitted with a non-standard ‘Badass III’ Bridge. Was in a Warwick Rockbag gig bag when taken. Has quite a large chip on the headstock (where is fell out of a fire escape!) and has been well gigged, so it’s not new looking by any stretch of the imagination. For a more detailed description and photo: http://tommitchener.wordpress.com/2010/06/...sing-in-action/ Thanks guys. Mitch
I hope you have the serial number and have reported the theft to the police. As if even Crack Converters do have it at some point its a sod to prove its yours if you dont have these details. Keep an eye out on LOOT & Gumtree too..my sons mixing desk turned up on there(GT) almost a year after it was nicked Wish you luck with a fast return

 18.
Excellent news! That grime looks ace to me too and Im a man with a nice clean one,I would of loved to put it in my collection maybe as you can see from my user name if it had been confirmed as a '77 I probably would of hit the old overdraft for a few months.Cant go wrong long term there either way IMO. See Ben I knew someone out there would want to enjoy it as it is and you have not have to do anything silly only time will tell if you regret it but you never know after Bruces refret you could get it back one day! Looks like smiles all round in the end
Be real interesting to know what price this one honestly realised in the end??? I personally saw it as a grand as is with £400' worth of work needed,to get to a decent shape..Then possibly worth the asking price...But then what would I know Well done Ben....let me know
