Also, I almost never tune using open strings precisely because so few pedals or clip-ons can handle the E or B strings.
I said it before but I find it weird that people have issues with this! My main squeeze is a pitchblack plus but I just as often use whatever plastic pocket tuner is lying around, or the one built in to an fx unit... never any problems. Haven't tried clip-ons. I wonder if the bass makes a big difference? Mine are really cheap, maybe that helps somehow... At the end of the day a tuner that can't handle E or B isn't a bass tuner.
 2.
I did have to pay import duty when I bought mine direct from the USA which added another ~£10 to the cost, but a great tuner.
How come only £10? Did parcelforce forget to thieve their £13.50 'handling fee'?

 4. Sold, many thanks Same one as in this thread, if Champion Badger will forgive me : http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...46&hl=sr506 It's a lovely bass, but I prefer manky basses. For now I'd like to see if anyone can collect - I haven't tried posting a bass before, and would rather not bother ATM as hectic times Not really looking for trades but might consider a nice 5 string of similar new value, especially a fretless. Cash on collection please! I should also mention that the coming weekend (30th Jul) might be tricky for pickup...
 5.
£300 is a joke for this pedal. It's completely battered and is missing one of the original knobs. That one that sold for £180 was MINTY.
But people pay loads for knob enhancements! No you're right, if it's not all original that's a factor - and if it doesn't have the box that's also a minus as many of them do. Still, here's a bubble that went for $395 with missing battery cover: http://cgi.ebay.com/Electro-Harmonix-Sovte...=item27ba5dc2a1 and one with some electrical issues that went for $200: http://cgi.ebay.com/Sovtek-big-muff-/13055...=item1e656b241c Alternatively, just sell the two original knobs for $20 each and keep the pedal: http://cgi.ebay.com/Electro-Harmonix-Sovte...=item3cba3ff625
 6. Well I finally finished the book... have pm'd the next in line. In the meantime, don't miss http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b012p5vv Lemmy talks kind of like john shuttleworth...
 7. I think this is a bubble font one, went for £180: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Electro-...=item1c1cf629d0 Always good to stick things up for sale on a Friday or Saturday... people come home drunk and feeling worthless and rejected... you never know what could happen!
 8. Sounds a decent start although things are a bit slow at the moment... some things aren't selling unless they're really priced to sell...
 9.
only 100? thought that was the price of the bubble fonts.... and i dont think anyone has a mint looking tall font, just looking at it causes the paint to flake off haha
Ah yes sorry I was talking shi'ite. Double it or triple it!
 10.
I've just bought one of these. Has anyone got any suggestions on what strings would be best on it?
11.
And they're not difficult to get hold of here. You just buy it direct from Sonic Research with Paypal, and it turns up at your house a few days later. I don't understand how that's hard. Unless people mean you can't get it in shops?
Does it come from USA? If so then there's always the question of whether you're going to be charged extra ££££ for customs / handling...
 12.
I wouldn't want to noodle around on a bass tuned that low if you know what I mean?
You obviously haven't damaged your high frequency hearing enough... Good luck with the sale!
 13. Tried putting BEAD strings on?
 14.
this 5 string would definitely test the tuners with it's Low B.
Find this a bit odd TBH. I've not had particular problems with the low B on any of the tuners i've used, including el-cheapo plastic jobbies.
 15. Boxed and as new. Obviously the pic here is stock but it looks just like it Great-sounding and really easy to use. Bought it recently but turns out that I'm not really in the mood for recording/writing ATM... mind you this is a great machine, feels quite professional to use - most features have dedicated controls or are just a button push or two away at most. £150 posted special delivery - that's at least a couple of pints less than they go for on ebay (one went recently for £185) - and this has PSU and 2GB Card too! The PSU is not the official Tascam one. It is, however, a correctly (i think higher) rated one from http://www.powerpax.co.uk/. get it before ebay does!
 16.
will it get into the sort of sound that i posted above without a tone control to control the highs
To be honest, probably not - it's always got a bit more HF going on, and more so as you increase the gain.
 17. bargain price for the 506!! Nice warm sounding bit of gear - would have it if I didn't have one already!
 18.
It's pretty clean when stock, tweaking the trimpots can yield overdrive but it can be quite brittle sounding. Great for pushing a tube amp into overdrive though!
The thing I like about it is that through most of it's range it's not overtly 'distorted' but just warm and thick. At the top end of the drive range it can be brittle (haven't tried messing with the trimpots) but I find I quite like this when i need to cut through the band for a moment, even if it's a bit nasty when noodling!
 19. If you want low gain, what about the wren and cuff Phat Phuk? low gain warmth is what it does... To answer your questions about the Polish Love - it's good at bass retention compared to most drive pedals. The range is adjustable from 'quite low gain' to 'full on'. It's something that comes up in the classififeds now and again, or a wanted ad might throw one up. Actually there might be one here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...0&hl=bogdan I personally preferred it to the SFT as it's less muddy sounding.
 20. If you want a sound like a nice tube amp, why not try a tube amp sim - Tech 21 VT Bass? A nice budget OD pedal is the Bogdan Polish Love if you can find one - it's not all that different to the EBS, a bit warmer IMO.
 21. If anyone has a vintage king size from the 90's I have cash waiting.
