  1. I had one of these as my first bass.
  2. It’s wider than the stage!!
  3. From the photo the E seems to be sitting in the nut ok, as such as they all sound ok if there isn’t any noticeable difference in feel then leave them on.
  4. I think I`ll be first in to recommend the Fender Rumble combos - the 100 watt version is only 9.97 kg so I`d check these out, they`re not too expensive (£300ish), sound great and I`m sure your back will be forever thanking you.
  5. Looks great!!
  6. I’ve been like this for years, anything other than a Precision such as a Jazz, Stingray, Thunderbird just sounded wrong to my ears when played by me. I now use Mustangs and they sound similar enough for me to not experience this, although it’s now a while since I played my Precisions.
  7. I agree, I just couldn’t work out how to do it, this computer lark def not my forte - without the thingy over the e of course 🤣
  8. £690 is excellent, only sad that I couldn`t make it there myself.
  9. Most definitely, stage/rehearsal rooms/recording studio, def my happy places, I consider myself very fortunate to have a hobby/interest that I get so much from.
  10. Would be a 65 Precision in sunburst/tort/rosewood.
  11. Pretty much the same for me.
  12. Started playing at 15, I’d been in “sortof” bands with mates since I was 16 , the type where you say you’re a band but have never actually done anything other than make a racket with no-one playing anything remotely like the others who are also doing the same. At just turned 21 I bought my first decent bass, a Yamaha BB1100s, about a month later joined a proper established originals gigging band. So I suppose I must have known in the back of my mind that I’d outgrown the sortofs and was ready to apply myself better. Within 3 months I was gigging all over the country.
  13. I really like the Ampeg SCR-DI for this. I don`t like it much for full-on gain/drive but for what you`ve specced out @Supernaut it`s a decent option, very good at adding that little bit so as as to make the notes not completely clean. You can either use the full pedal with all of its eq options or just the Scrambler part of it on your current eq. Added bonus of being a Preamp/DI so all of the uses that come with those.
  14. I’d be more than happy seeing a band doing that set list!
  15. For me it’s timing changes, if it’s a straight ahead song at the same pace then that makes it so much easier for me. Wayward Son by Kansas took a while to get to say the least.
  16. We played in Munich with an American band who had a couple of girls (20s maybe 30s) in the band and in the provided food was a cheesecake for each band. One of them (no idea which) wrote in ours “Horny Dad Band”.
  17. Motordad
  18. Check out the Phil X & The Drills version, it’s awesome
  19. The harshness could most likely be the electrical parts, I have similar with my Mustang basses, the Squier having way more top end than the JMJ. A look at the schematics showed 500k pots in the Squier rather than 250s that Fender usually use, so similarly a KiOgon loom with 250s is waiting to be installed.
  20. Yes, I had the CMD121P combo with an NY121 cab, then a Little Mark 3 with two NY121s. At the time I too was rather heavy handed but they didn’t care, handled everything sent their way.
  21. Or maybe go to the bar/for a leak/outside for a smoke
  22. I think the best thing to do is to show the rest of the band your second last paragraph, then take it from there. Is it a song where one of them can drop their own instrument and play bass for example, whilst you go to the bar and get the drinks in, make it part of an act where the band keep the song but you take no part.
  23. Good article, comes across as a very decent & humble bloke
  24. Def look at the brighter versions as mentioned above Rotosound 77, Fender, Dunlop, EB Cobalts, TIs, worth adding in D’Addario Chromes to the list.
  25. Same for me, problem on the electrics, which were fine when I did my pre gig journey check at home. Squier/Vintage/Harley Benton all do perfectly decent basses which can be very affordable used - my old Vintage Tony Butler Precision cost me £120 and it was a great instrument.
