Pretty sure you told me before, but is the Impact a short scale bass? Looks awfully small!
No, it's long scale.... it just looks tiny next to those two hulking Jazz basses! -
Interesting...I always thought of Winger as a "players" band who were somewhat underrated. Despite some dire songs, the boys could play!
Yep, Winger were one of the 80's rock bands who were highly respected by musicians. Kip was a classically trained pianist who was no slouch on bass or vicals, Reb Beach was/is respected as one of the finest guitarists of his generation, Paul Taylor is a multi-instrumentalist who has since gone on to MD shows for many famous artists and Rod Morgenstein is also the drummer in the Dixie Dregs! Definitely no slouches...
Mr Cetera, Mr Cetera! As a man who owns a lot of Spectors, how do you rate the EMG-HZ pickup/SD preamp combo from the lower end Spectors compared to the "proper" EMGs + tonepump combo on the higher end models? Is there much in it?
I've never actually played any of the lower end Spectors but I believe they have a great reputation at their price-point The ReBop I used to have, and my Rex bass both have passive EMG-Hz humbuckers with Tonepump Jr active preamps and I think they sound great - very tight and focussed (not unlike a good Jazz bass). However, given the chance I would upgrade the pickups to full active EMG humbuckers as the tone from these is much fuller and bolder -
i'm so pleased i've found you! IS there another bass like the punisher - or even similar? i'm in love with mine for all occasions, but obviously it doesnt look the part in all occasions! cheers bud
I've yet to come across anything similar feel-wise to the Punisher. Though looks-wise the Schecter Devil bass is pretty similar but has humbucking pickups.... http://www.drumza.com/images/SchecterDV4DevilBass.jpg Btw, if you ever want/need to sell your Punisher on... let me know! -
If you were stage right you'd have been standing next to me, i was the only one sitting in a chair, on the on-stage side of the barrier. I'm doing sonisphere this weekend if that's any help?!! I missed the yodel / flute rock of Focus at High Voltage though.
Lol! Were you the guy slumped in his (wicker?) chair with a headset on? I thought "check that guy out.... how bored does he look!" I'll be backstage/stage side on Sunday late afternoon/evening for Iron Maiden so may see you there...
Cool, i'm working on that. I'm on the Metal hammer stage (not playing..)... It's nice to be on a festival where i'm not up to my knees in mud for a change - however the locals that keep breaking into the site, raiding the busses and nicking or trashing everything in sight aren't that nice.
Balls, I missed you again! I was back & forth to the backstage there all weekend. Watched Down from sidestage too.... NICE Spectors Rex had!
Well.. I dont have the money anyway Unless Cetera would be interested in some trades!
600W not enough for you?!? Crikey... I've never turned up more than half way (with an efficient 4ohm cab) and that was PUSHING it! Trades? No, sorry.... selling only....

In my quest to streamline my gear I have sadly decided to move on this absolutely STUNNING amp.... but only because I also have the modular versions that make this amp up! The Tech 21 Landmark 600 is a 600w at 4ohm powerhouse with two separate pre-amps (the legendary RBI and RPM) built in which can be used individually or combined to create an awesome tone of your design! This is particularly useful if you set up e.g. one preamp for a clean solid low end.... and the other for a fizzing distorted high end.... giving instant tones from Geddy Lee to Chris Squire to Justin Chancellor! You could of course set up each preamp for a different bass.... or two different tones completely. This amp is now only made as a custom order with Tech 21 only having their smaller 300w version available to the public at large... soundclips of the 300 can be heard here but only give a taste of what this beast is capable of! http://www.tech21nyc.com/products/amps/bass/landmark300.html Some further info: SansAmp XLR Output works like a built-in direct box to deliver the true tone of the amp to the PA desk or studio board without compromising detail, warmth or responsiveness. The XLR is switchable from -20dB to 0dB. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gain is a 10dB gain boost to set up the pre-amp for different pickups. For example, with lower output, passive pickups, you can have punchier sounds with Gain engaged. Conversely, with higher output, active pickups, you can have a cleaner sound with Gain disengaged. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Effects Loop. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuner Output - Independent buffered output provides a constant unaffected signal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1/4” speaker outputs Condition is excellent as it has been housed in a rack for the whole of its short life.... Price? Well that's a difficult one.... SOLD Payment by cheque, direct bank transfer or cash....and collection from Surrey is preferred/recommended, though I could meet halfway for petrol costs.

The next bass I'm offering up in my gear-changearound is this superb Spector Rex bass. This is a popular sleek-Thunderbird type design with thru neck, EMG-Hz humbuckers and black hardware. As you can see, I've customised it with high quality Spector 'crown' inlay decals on the fretboard which don't interfere with fingering. They look VERY convincing, but can easily be removed if you don't like them and leave no sticky residue... Soundwise it has a very tight and focussed tone, a little like a Jazz on steroids.... really cuts through a mix with ease.... Condition is very good with just some normal player wear scratches/light dings. There is also a small varnish crack from over-tightening of one of the machinehead screws (see pic below). Pricewise I'm looking for *SOLD* (+ shipping of your choice) with payment by cheque or bank transfer...... or cash on collection from Surrey or Central London. Could also meet halfway within 50 miles....
