  2. Two more weddings over the weekend. Friday - The West Mill in Derby. Played here a bunch of times before. Load in up a flight of stairs which is mildly inconvenient but the fact that guests are eating on a completely different floor and therefore not bothering us is more than compensation. 95db limiter but in reality its not a bad one and we definitely were over that all night without any issues. Bride, groom and guests were rough as anything and, fueled by lots of booze and an abundance of Colombian nose powder, they did pretty much everything in the book to be as obnoxious and downright rude as possible. Venue were very keen to tell us the million rules we were forbidden from breaking and not even remotely interested in doing anything about the blatant drug usage going on. We did the minimum and packed up and got out of there. Saturday - Upthorpe Woods nr Bury St Edmunds. Unusual outdoor woodland venue which would have been ace in anything other than Saturday's torrential downpours. We set up in the only real indoor space which was essentially a huge shed with a hollow wooden floor and a tin roof. Acoustics sounded like a huge shed with a hollow wooden floor and a tin roof. Bride, groom and guests were perfectly pleasant but not the wildest bunch you'll ever meet. Best part of the night was the pizza and the 11pm curfew. Home by 1am was definitely a welcome bonus. This coming weekend we are in Maidstone on Friday and then Ceredigion on Saturday so will spend most of the weekend driving. Oh the joys.
  3. Really appreciate the offer but I've had horrendous experiences with couriers in the last 6 months as both a buyer and a seller. I'm gigging down nr Exeter towards the end of summer so will keep my eye on this.
  4. Post covid was a really rough time where it was like everyone had been let out of a cage and was hell bent on being as unpleasant as possible. We do have good weddings but the majority are not really all that great anymore. Between unpleasant guests and hostile venues with over the top limiters it's not as fun as it used to be. Maybe I'm getting too old or jaded.
  5. You could see it in the bride's eyes. "Oh god what have I done?"
  6. Four gigs in four days. All weddings and a ton of driving involved. Weds - (Kent) really uneventful and reserved with most people thinking about work the following day. Thurs - (Manchester) Friendly and enthusiastic crowd. LGBTW wedding with a really cool vibe. Had a lot of fun. Fri - (Stratford On Avon) Bride was lovely, Groom was a grade a **** who was far more interested in getting hammered with his football mates and being as obnoxious as possible. Completely ignored his new wife all night and at the end of the night had to be carried out of the venue. Sat - (Cambridgeshire) everything that's good about being in a wedding band. Lovely couple, great food (proper wedding cake), big enthusiastic crowd and a friendly venue. Also got to meet basschatter @silverfoxnik on the way up who has been an absolute legend and is helping me get a few (rather heavy) bits to another basschatter this week. Time to reintroduce myself to my wife and kids today and cook some nice food and enjoy some family time.
  7. I'd have this if I was going to be anywhere near the South West in the near future.
  8. Have you tried using FB messenger? There's always a chance that your emails are getting caught in his spam filter by mistake. I messaged on messenger last week and had a reply within an hour.
  9. I have used Lugs to reshell my old UE6's and Robert did a fantastic job. His communication was to the point but excellent. I know he's busy and isn't currently offering reshells but that wouldn't put me off ordering a set of new IEMs from him. He's busy for a reason and that is the quality of his work at a very reasonable price.
  10. If it helps in any way, our current rig is 2 x RCF745A and 2 x RCF Sub 705 AS2 On gigs where a limiter is particularly strict the 745s will handle Guitar, Bass, Electric Drum Kit, Bass, Keys and 3 vocals. Would I want to use them alone to play in a rowdy pub? No but adding just one sub completely changes things and adding both subs makes a really solid system for audiences of up to 200. The 4 inch compression driver is a massive part of the sound. Vocals are just so much clearer and the high end never sounds harsh despite our guitarists best efforts.
  11. Money. As long as I'm getting paid properly I'll find the energy to perform.
  12. Excellent condition Boss SY-1 Great little synth pedal with a gazillion sounds and the best tracking I've found with any of the many synth pedals I've had. Really useable in the real world with the ability to mix effect level with clean tone. Collection from NN12 South Northamptonshire or can post for £5

  14. Boss CEB-3 in good working order. Been on my board for a few years and has been a really reliable and useable pedal that gives a lovely warm effect. Comes in original box. £45 posted or £40 collected from South Northamptonshire
  15. We use that many deps I don't really know which drummer is our regular one.
  16. For sale for spares or repair is an old Mesa Boogie Powerhouse 2x10. Only one driver is working. All wiring has been checked but the driver is seized solid. Other driver is working fine. Heavier than Saturn but pretty much built like a tank. The cost of a new driver means I'll not be replacing the broken one. If you have the same cab with a broken driver this is about £200 less than the cost of a new driver. Collection only from NN12 8XR
  17. Whatever we were meant to learn for their first dance but never bothered to get together and rehearse.
  18. Just bought a gorgeous Jazz bass from Isaac. He made everything super easy and was really acommodating in boxing it up for my courier to collect. Bass was exactly as described and i'm a very happy camper. Top BC'er and I would buy from him again with absolute confidence.
  19. This 100%. Drivers need to be in cabs that are designed to suit them. Maybe better to measure the internal dimensions of the cab and ask the clever folk who designed the Basschat DIY can for some advice on a suitable replacement driver.
  20. My wife's sister and three of her mates are currently working on the Glastonbury site doing the clean up. She's done it for years and loves it. Every year there is this bull***t narrative in the same old right wing dross media outlets about how this generation of festival goers are all totally entitled and how the festival is an environmental disaster. Over 99% of tents actually get taken home and the site has its own full recycling facility that allows all waste to be hand sorted and everything that can be recycled is recycled. Also no products in single use plastics are sold on site. https://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/information/green-glastonbury/our-green-policies/waste-policy/#:~:text=All cans%2C glass%2C paper%2C,our on-site recycling facility. Essentially, although there is a huge amount of litter left, the organise expect this and plan for it properly. Don't forget, there are numerous media publications that want division and love to try and get people angry about something because it sells clicks and papers.
  21. Like that a lot. Actually think the autotune really adds to it. Good work.
  22. Drive. Our gigs are all over the country and there's no public transport to my village. All four members of the band live in different counties so car sharing still involves driving to a meet up location. Thankfully we rarely rehearse but, if we do, it's usually in my home studio.
  23. Sounds to me like the guy needs to learn to mix. With synths, pianos and bass there will be tons of lows and he just needs to understand how to make them sit together in a mix using the tools at his disposal. I wouldn't be too precious about him cutting frequencies though. Most mix engineers will do that as part of the mixing process. It's the ones that can do the least possible to make it all hang together that are the best at their craft. It's not easy though when individual band members are doing their own recordings. The best mixes start with the best sound captures.
