1. Good God!! This Sterling is amazing. I think the grain on this is possibly the nicest I've seen
2. I'm really not sure about this one, but I've made a (very expensive) rash purchase and as I've just got my refinished Stingray back, I'm thinking about moving this one on. It really is in immaculate condition and the best Teal finish I've seen in ages. The neck is a dream too and it spotless and a lovely bit of maple. I've fitted a mirrored pickguard to it (well, I like it). Comes with original MM hard case (excellent condition apart from a sticker on it). Classic Stingray sounding and a beautiful player. I think this will be easier to shift than my refinished one with the gold hardware and East preamp (although I do have the original MM electronics) and that's the only reason I'm selling this one. I'd be looking for (ideally) £700 for this. I'm not really looking to trade unless something amazing comes along... I'm going to re-list this on Ebay over the weekend, but thought I'd give a bass Chatter first refusal.
3. I recently swapped my Stingray 5 for Muya's (Giorgio's) Lakland DJ5. He posted it on Friday and I received it on Wednesday. It was exactly as he described it (spotless) and came with a Lakland hard case too. The sound from the single coils really cuts through and compliments my Stingray 4 beautifully. All in all, a good guy with exceptional product and fantastic service. Cheers mate!! If you're ever over in England again I'll buy you a beer.
4.
Hope you didn't mind the use of your picci OHM. This bass just get's better and better, the Thumb and the Sterling are gatherin' dust at the mo.
I didn't realise it was my picture!! Glad you're still happy with the P bass.
5.
We can't all be perfect...........sniff.
She's still got it Mart...beautiful
6. Thanks Guys. It looks as if I wasn't a million miles away with my idea. I'll let you know how I get on.
7.
Nick, my band had a bash at covering this before we decided it didn't really fit in with the other material. Our bass player (it's the band I play guitar in) didn't use an Octaver or a 12 string bass - in fact I doubt he knew that it was a multi string bass or whatever the technical term is. It sounded alright anyway - I don't know whether that's actually because it sounded alright - we gigged it a couple of times and it went down well enough - or my attitude towards it is a bit more "wing it and hope". The other thing I think I did was to play his part on the guitar an octave above - which is probably what your octaver would do. Sorry I can't be of any further help. I never really liked doing it anyway
Thanks John. I suggested the Guitarist tracks this an Octave higher, but he wasn't too keen. His band I guess, so I'll give it a go with the Octaver and see how it sounds.
8.
and turned down towers of london, I may have overdone things, my memory is kinda hazy! hehheh
We were on the same bill as Towers of London about 2 years ago (may have been longer). We watched their set and I've not laughed so much in ages. EVERY Rawk pose you can imagine was pulled!! They were God awful though
9. I've been asked to fill in for a month or so with a local indie-rock band (Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stoneage, Nirvana) and of the tracks they want to play is "Jeremy" by Pearl Jam. This is a new number, so their current bassist can't give me any steer at all. The intro is played on a (so I've been told) 12 string bass and unfortunately, I don't own one of these. I was thinking of trying to use my Octaver to replicate the sound, but wondered if anyone else plays it and what they use to get that unique sound.
10.
I've literally just sold that one to SB but I am getting some more at the back end of next week. If you don't mind waiting a few days I can reserve one for you. Just let me know but it's no sweat if you don't want one as I'd already committed to buy another couple before I was trounced off eBay! Would the plural be Nautili? Cheers john
Not sure what the plural would be...I only want one anyway!! Happy to hang on until you get them in again
11. Well, my SR5 is heading towards Italy and Muya's DJ5 is headed towards Surrey (provided the postmen aren't too p*ssed to handle it). A good result all round I think.
12. SR5 is now gone in a trade. Thanks for all the replies and offers
13.
So where is he/she in Surrey then?
Kingston Upon Thames
14.
Looking at his feedback he seems to deal quite a bit in Stingrays. I spotted one of our own number in the list of buyers.
Me!!
15. I've bought off Superstrats before and can thoroughly recommend his gear and service.
16. Yeah it was great!! Can't believe that Marcus Miller, Pino Palladino AND John Myung all turned up. Never expected that.
17. I've just got it home and plugged it in....WOW. Sounded good before but the East preamp adds just a bit more definition to the sound. It looks amazing in the flesh too. Well happy
18. Small Stone and Big Muff pii have now been sold. That just leaves the Dr Q Nano....anyone?
19.
MB1. "You are GOLD.......GOLD.......,always believe in your soul, youve got the power to know, your indestructable!...... Always believe it! Well and truly SPANDO........D!
I wondered when you'd show up....
20. Well, it's arrived at work today but I've not had a chance to inspect it yet!! I'll let you know how I get on tonight.
21. Just out of interest (and certainly not trying to teach you to suck eggs) I get the same sort of sound from my amp when the batteries on my bass (Stingray) are dead or dying. I only mentioned it because it took me hours to work that one out and I was convinced it was the amp.
22. Little Big Muff now sold, but I still have a Big Muff pii, Small Stone Phaser and a Nano Dr Q for sale. All boxed and is As New condition. I'll offer these at £25 each plus £4 P&P if anyone's interested.
